Like Ive mentioned before I've been rewatching MHA and OH MY FUCKIN GOD, the way other students/classes blame Class 1-A for constantly getting attack is fucking crazy☠️ like how are you blaming them for going to the usj or summer camps when 1) it's not like they knew the league would show up to a REMOTE location, HOURS away from the school and B) they're STUDENTS how are you blaming them and not idk the FACILITY who made the decision in the first place

They should teach psychology in the hero course. Well, maybe like criminal psychology or whatever that’s called. Learning how the human mind works would be extremely helpful when working with/rehabilitating villains. It would also be nice to have lessons on how to diffuse situations and stuff. Learning what drives someone to villainy just make sense for heroes-in-training to learn.

Hot Take: UA is fundamentally a terrible school. The reasons:

Their entrance exam for the Hero Course is tailored towards flashy, combative quirks. (While yes we do see non-combat focus quirks in the Hero Course like Hagakure's, she's 1 out of 36 as 4 spots reserved for the rich/well-connected students). Meaning quirks like Shinso's that can descalate a situation are pushed off to the side and the only way after the exam to get into the Hero Course is the Sports Festival, which again is primarily for flashy, combative quirks.

Who they hire as teachers is bad, actually who they hire in general is bad. All of the teachers and even the few support staff we see are Pro Heroes. Not people who's most important job is to teach. The UA staff's most important is to be Heroes. And their school nurse, who's quirk is very useful, basically threatened a student into figuring out a quirk that he only had for less then a year otherwise he'll be permanently maimed for life.

Who the teachers are are also bad. They hired All Might, the #1 hero at the time and someone who obviously doesn't have a teacher license as the Combat Teacher. They have Midnight, the R-rated/18+ Heroine, as a teacher, and we have seen her being overly forward and sexually with students(minors) present. Easerhead is simply a bad teacher overall. His favorite thing is logical ruses and not explaining exercises under the guise of Life won't explain anything. Not only that but despite threatening expelletion for not having hero potential(something that can be entirely subjective) on the first day, he didn't expelled Bakugo or even punished him for trying to attack Izuku. And after the first Combat Training, he didn't punished Bakugo for disobeying his teacher(and thus direct superior),trying to seriously injured Izku with an attack he was told not to use(and lets be honest, it was attempted murder with the line "He won't die IF he dodges", he knew that if Izuku didn't dodged or was 1 second too slow with redirecting that attack, he would have died or at least been injured badly) and using an attack inside a building( what if the situation had the "Villains" take hostages along with what seems to be a Nuke). The only time Easehead punished Bakugo was b/c he broke curfew to drag and fight his bullying victim(aka he was inconvenienced by Bakugo's actions) Easerhead also doesn't punished a certain rotten grape despite essentially being a criminal( who also committed said crimes on school grounds).

They obviously don't have any background checks or interviews with the applicants or people that know them, despite being the #1 Hero School.

Being a hero school in the first place. By calling themselves a Hero School, that tells people what their main focus is on. That like a modern day School advertising themselves as a Sports School, one that if someone goes there and gets into their Sports Course, they will become Pro. Also the fact that UA is a high-school and not an university/college, meaning that UA is essentially training child soldiers.

Allowing 14/15 years old on Villian Raids and into warzones.

Not offering any sort of help, post USJ and the training camp.

Sports Festival is a terrible idea in general. First broadcasting your Hero Courses' quirks for any Villian to see, yeah that totally won't end up with someone form UA dead. Second, using minors as the contestants, did any of the parents sign permission slips to allow their children to be broadcast on national TV. Third, like I said before, it's focus is on the Hero Courses and flashy quirks.

UA also let Ilda, who's brother was crippled by Stain, to intern in Hosu, which also happened to be where Stain is reported to be. For Nedzu, the supposedly smartest person on Earth and most likely the final authorityon the Internships, to allow that to slip past him is stupid.

There's probably more times where UA showcases the fact that they shouldn't be a school meant for minors or even at all then I have stated but I'm tired so yeah here's my hot take.

Honestly, I think its’s kinda strange hero schools in MHA. Everyone knows the U.A entrance exam is biased, and it doesn’t really make sense.

On the written portion of the exam, it’s not like you’re only going to take 1-2 subjects, so why should it be that way for the physical exam?

I think it would be better if there were multiple portions of the physical part of the exam for the heroics course. I suppose the combat/fighting portion could still be against robots so no one gets injured/killed.

There should be a portion that is dedicated to rescue kind of like for the licensing exam. (Sorry if I get any details wrong. It’s been a while) That way even if your Quirk doesn’t work on non-humans, like for instance, Shinsō’s brainwashing, they can still get in on rescue points. Midoriya got in just on rescue points, so if there was a rescue portion, plenty of people who could’ve made fine heroes won’t be rejected or have to do what Aizawa did and what Shinsō’s doing.

I’ve been reading Vigilantes, and it’s just interesting to see how a seemingly lackluster, pretty basic and weak Quirk can become a very useful weapon in one’s arsenal if they just find different applications, train, and gain a better understanding of how their Quirk works, but I might talk about that more in another post. Koichi probably would not have been able to destroy robots, but even in the beginning, it’s shown he can reassure people, help them, and rescue them even when he hadn’t developed a whole lot with his Quirk.

There could be a portion devoted to more stealthy/underground heroics as well. Heck, maybe even just some stuff to see how well you can strategize! There’s also the possibility of schools dedicated to certain kind of heroics. School for those who want to be rescue heroes, those for underground heroics, sidekicks/support heroes, and m, of course, limelight and more combat-oriented heroics. Because it really doesn’t make sense to have someone like Hagakure in the same class as Todoroki.

First year could be for foundational stuff and everyone learns the basics like fighting, combat, rescue, basically the minimum for a variety of aspects of heroics and whatever other class they have to take, and in the second and third years they can specialize in a certain branch of heroics.

All in all, hero schools in MHA are kinda weird to say the least.

It honestly would have been a better idea to make U.A a college institution instead of a high school.

Yeah, because it’s not child soldiers. Their brains are more developed, so they are more aware of what exactly they’re getting into. (Also obligatory mention that how Mineta hasn’t gotten expelled yet would be a lot more obvious, seeing as how a lot of colleges in real life tend to close their eyes to sexual assault and stuff like that.)

UA's teachers suck like thier heros first and teachers second and they remind me of that one teacher we've all had, who was super smart and knew thier stuff but could not teach it or dumb it down for the life of them. Or thier like erasurehead who just tells them to do it and gives no practical advice, just do better or else

True. My problem with the narrative is that it tells us that Aizawa is a good teacher without any actual evidence from his actual class to back it up, in terms of quirk development.
