i do actually think it's really nice and fun when characters never fully move on from their grief. it doesn't have to define them but it is always with them and it is always hanging over everything they do. the person they loved and lost is always there and they grow to sit with their presence instead of getting over it

on one hand i do not at all believe in the “the fandom would like/forgive this awful male character more if he was a woman” thing some ppl really like to throw around. but on the other hand i can’t be used as an example abt why that’s not true when over half the time i would in fact like that male character more if he was a woman

every damn time someone points out violent visceral hatred expressed toward a female character and why it's disturbing to see (especially if they are brown or black) you will have people in the replies going "oh well i don't hate her because of her gender/race i just find her annoying/uninteresting/useless/etc" like have you guys ever considered shutting up

it's very good and in fact also necessary to expand your view of queer media outside of romance stories

i have decided to become a less toxic and angry person so now every time i see an awful post, i don't leave a hate message in that person's inbox or comments. instead i just silently pray and pray and pray that that person ends up getting ambushed and eaten by an apex predator or even put into some kind of pulverizing mechanism before i scroll past and move on with my day
