Mounted 👌 quick turn around for a self mounting service from @spiremedals ebay shop. Emailed and asked for a QPJM single court mount, finally arrived and all I had to do was sew the medal to the board and its complete 👍 amazing quality and the hassle free factor of not posting medals or losing them in post was removed, all ready for remembrance parades coming soon. Even if I'm in uniform or not I'll wear mine proudly, like always if I'm in uniform I wear my Granddads mini under my jacket as self pride 🤫 don't tell the RSM, and if I'm in my 3 piece suit I wear my corps tie, beret, and his full size medals on the right as a mark of family respect and I always carry a corps coin in my pocket ❤ #rememberanceday #ubique #jublieemedal #poppyappeal #qpjm @royalbritishlegion @britisharmy @spiremedals @corps_of_royal_engineers @armyaircorps https://www.instagram.com/p/CkWuAcHj_ob/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
The 40 following the 40. My maths being correct thats 80. 80 miles to yomp in May. I am raising money for 2 charities not just one, the first 40 miles is set by the @rblicharity and I'm doing the second as a token of gratitude to the @thermcharity for their Falklands 40 challenge and the fact their also celebrating their 80th anniversary for the role of Commandos. See my story, both fundraisers are now live so please donate if you feel the need is so. (Please bare with me on some of the updates as I'm doing this as a personal rehab, charity thank you and also I'm on course trying to become an ARSI so it may be busy at times) Miles will be recorded from @strava and added to the Insta/Facebook stories. @corps_of_royal_engineers @royal_engineers_cet @3regimentarmyaircorps @armyaircorps @1st_aviation_bct @royalmarines @theparachuteregiment @ministryofdefence @britisharmy @7avnspbnreme @4regimentarmyaircorps Maps, war entries and dits from my tabbing around the Sailsbury/AACen/Andover area over the period. How paths can change, this isn't really the most exciting or military related thing but it just proves how a small change to a small space and short time frame can effect something, I have since living in my military home with my wife and kids explored a lot of countryside and local places near where we live. This one public footpath stood out to me today as I haven't walked down here for a while. But when I first moved here 3 years ago the footpath as directed is to the right in the overgrown shady part following the tree line (it use to be walkable and more like a footpath) as you can see its worn in like a path just unused. But over to the left slightly I assume because of peoples' want to not walk in mud or long grass, more have started to make a new path on the boundary of this farmers field. Which in turn could start to affect crops and rights of way. It doesn't sound much but patterns and paths are formed from routine and habit. So to know that people follow the crowd and not the proven route is a bit sore to see. I'm not one to preach about this sort of thing as I like many do cut paths and fields but to see how such a short time can affect something so visible is crazy to believe. This isn't a rant just a mear observation of the normality that is human existence to move things just because we can without consequence and no one really understands why. I suppose things may be better on the high ground or are they? I suppose as a solider I see the benefits to moving paths to make life easier and safer but then I see the age old argument of the proven route is the proven route don't deviate its time served and tested. (The paths may not be so obvious from the photo but walking this path you really see it end to end.) #osmaps @ordnancesurvey @42_engineer_regiment_geo @135geosqnre @britisharmygeologist @splashmaps @naturalengland #publicfootpath #rightofway #ubique #royalengineers https://www.instagram.com/p/CcfyqJ8tAl5/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
Today's helping insert, I want to talk about an exercise that not everyone appreciates in the gym but is essential in a military role; the farmers walk. "The muscles most significantly affected by the farmer's walk include the upper back, lats, traps, forearms, quads, hamstrings, and glutes. This exercise is especially effective at improving grip strength, as you must tightly grip the weights throughout the movement to avoid dropping them." Taken from @healthline We all get asked to lug supplies left, right and Chelsea in our job and one of the most brutal past times of this is the infamous Jerry can carry, 20ltrs of fuel or water, that SV always seems that little bit further away every time. The walk combine with the overhead press that is key to mounting that packed fuel or water on to the SV is always the hardest part of a soldiers deployment prep. Bergens (easy) kit checks (nailed), walk 200 Jerry cans across the hanger floor because the forklifts U/S 🤦♂️ (down the gym to sign some new arms please Staff). But get it drilled correctly and build that grip strength, it's one of the best exercises in my opinion for beat up training for tabbing 👍🥾 lightweights don't lift themselves folks 💪drive like a donkey, load up and keep moving forwards. @britisharmy @royalarmyphysicaltrainingcorps @corps_of_royal_engineers @armyaircorps #ubique #farmerswalk #jerrycancarry #royalengineers #beatuptraining #tab #yomp #ruck #loadedmarch #speedmarch https://www.instagram.com/p/Cb1yeGTgptQ/?utm_medium=tumblr
*Not marketing a certain brand or product.* Just a great new tip for anyone in my situation, I suffer with a bad back quite frequently it leaves me with bad pain in my skin, calf and knee pains specially on my right leg, your all thinking what this go to do with compression stockings? Well I don't know the exact science behind this kind of sports kit (disclaimer* I'm willing to listen to opinions and the science behind this kind of treatment/equipment) But I've been using them for a few days now and done the normal daily activities like walked the dog, been on shift and daily run of the mill jobs. And not boasting a miracle cure but my legs actually feel less tired and achy for the first time in a few years. (Not sure if its a placebo or actually doing something scientific) @aaronmartin.fit have you any experience with this as a temp pain relief solution? Would love a don't be dick with your socks but... 😅 For anyone else that want to know any facts about them sure I'll get a few answers soon, then judge for yourself if they may be something for you. #tab #yomp #royalengineers #ubique #britisharmyfitness #britisharmy #armyaircorps #apache #coffee #ruck #speedmarch #loadedmarch #dontbeadick #compressionsocks https://www.instagram.com/p/CbfAt5ygD1S/?utm_medium=tumblr
Daysack trekking? Essential itinerary for your reece yomp? Everyone has different views of what is essential for this kind of activity, but my basics always start the same. A solid robust and tidy looking pack to start, I use for my reece trails a @mountainwarehouse green daysack, great little number and fits kit in as a top load so not much different from a typical military bergen/daysack. Second to that everything is then drysack bagged for weather protection, and labelled for ease of usage, I normally run a wet bag and warm bag, the wet bag has a waterproof suit and socks inside, the warm bag a spare shirt, jumper or fleece and socks and underwear. If weather drops below freezing I may top this with a set of thermals to stay warm. The orange dry bag contains, spare hat and gloves and scarf/headover. Then essential kit for every reece a map and journal to record vital route info and timings and conditional information and a med kit for the event of any injuries, blisters or pains. All covered in the diary coming soon, its currently sat being read over by a friend to help with the proof reading 👍 then a first publish will finger's crossed be underway, platform type and method in process for best delivery to anyone wanting a copy.
