system-config-samba (GUI for SMB configuration, also installs samba)
gnome-nettool (GUI for several network tools such as ping etc.)
ntfsprogs (tools for unproblematic use of NTFS file systems)
vino (VNC server instead of tsclient as a VNC client)
update-manager (addition to Synaptic for Ubuntu updates)
gdebi (simple GUI tool for installing .deb files)
system-config-printer-gnome (graphical configuration for CUPS, for HP printer also install hplib)
brasero (GUI for burning DVDs/CDs)
gparted (graphical partition manager)
epiphany (as mentioned by TheShiv)
language-pack-gnome-XX and language-pack-gnome-XX-base (with XX representing your local language, e.g. de)
