<3 UCLA GRADUATION and the burning of Calluna Vulgaris
UCLA GRADUATION~~~~~~~~
Wow!!! This week has been really eventful..... Last Friday I graduated from Ucla!!! I now have a Bachelor of Arts in Political science with an emphasis in Comparative Politics!! I just can't believe it's over already, and although it's kind of a scary time not knowing exactly what my next move will be, I am enjoying my time in Westwood just taking a break and reflecting on my time at Ucla. I've also been getting back into surfing, which I absolutely love. Being a full time student at Ucla, (I took 18 units last quarter- of which included Arabic language courses), I barely managed to find free time to go surfing. This unfortunately reflected in my contest results.... as I didn't make it out of the quarterfinals at American Pro Surfing Series events that I entered. But today I surfed really fun Malibu for three hours straight!! Seriously, I felt it coming back to me, especially during the last hour I was out there.
~~~~~~~~& THE BURNING OF CALLUNA VULGARIS (aka Heather)
As this time of my life comes to a close, it's really interesting that just yesterday I looked up meanings for my name on the internet. As you may already know, Heather is a purple flowering plant. Heather also thrives in rocky terrain and in places where other plants find it difficult to survive. The Heather plant, also known as Calluna Vulgaris, regenerates after occasional burning. I found this amazing, and kind of saw it as a Pheonix type-thing but instead for Heather, the flower of my name! Although I am going through a "burning phase" now, I can already sense some of the regeneration and the newly revived energy it's bringing. Taking this time to reflect, I'm finding so many things I am passionate about and finding clarity about what's going to be my next move.
