So a while back, I announced that I was likely going to be skipping the summer exchange this year. After reflecting upon the most recent exchange (UDSS2018), I have decided to step back from the winter exchange as well. In other words, I will no longer be running Until Dawn Secret Santas.
This isn’t necessarily the end of UDGE and UDSS, but for the time being, I will not be running them. Thank you so much to everyone who has supported the event, we’ve had something like 50+ different participants over the course of three exchanges, which isn’t bad for a “dead” fandom. ;-)
Thank you, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for letting the Until Dawn Secret Santa/Gift Exchange be a reality for three full events!!
If you want more specific reasons behind why I’m stepping back, read below the cut.
I simply don’t have the time anymore. I didn’t have the time to keep UDSS2018 organized last year, and we ended up not having completed gifts for everyone. This had happened in the past, but this time had one major difference. I didn’t have the time to find everyone who didn’t complete a gift. As a result, I don’t feel like UDSS2018 was a success, and I feel like I broke my promise to everyone who participated, especially those who never received their gifts.
If I’m running the exchanges, I expect myself to run them to a certain standard. Not being able to reach that standard for the 2018 Until Dawn Secret Santa made me realize that I no longer have the time to provide you guys with a well-organized exchange. I only want you guys to have the very best, and since I can’t provide you with that, I’m taking this break.
Thank you guys for understanding! I’ll see you around!
As today comes to an end, I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who participated in the Until Dawn Secret Santa event this year. :-)
I’d like to first of all thank you all of your hard work that you put into your gifts. Without you guys, this event definitely wouldn’t have been possible. Today was an amazing day, and I was absolutely thrilled to see what everyone created as their gifts. The amount of effort that went into each and every single one was mind-blowing, and I hope that everyone is proud of what they created! I know that this time of year is typically incredibly busy, and the fact that in the span of about two and a half weeks you guys were able to create such lovely gifts is something that deserves to be applauded.
Next, I’d like to thank you all for your patience as this event was sorted out. There were twists and curves, and a lot of messages from myself to ensure that everyone was on the same page, so I’d like to thank you for putting up with me spamming your inbox over the past month. :’-) Additionally, thank you for going along with the many rules that popped up along the way.
Finally, I want to thank you guys for the amount of love that you showed this event. It was wonderful to see so many people getting excited for their gifts. I was a little worried at first since the Until Dawn fandom seemed pretty small, but we had a total of 30 people come together to create gifts for each other. For a “dead” fandom, that’s pretty darn impressive!
I had so much fun organizing this project, and I hope you guys had a lot of fun being involved! Please let me know if you’d be interested in doing this again next year! :-)
I hope that your winter break and the new year treat you kindly, and that you have a safe holiday season!
Everything has officially been posted and can be found on this blog! Don’t forget that one of the best gifts you can give is sharing someone’s work. Whether or not you were involved in this event, consider reblogging the work of your fellow UD fans to show your support! :-)
