he took his job very seriously. his duty was his priority most of the time — probably one of the reasons his friends complained so much. and for his job he had to travel in the name of the queen. with a squad or by himself, he went to see the each of the queen’s territory. it was a painful part of being a knight, since he was away so much of the time. at dawn he usually went, and by the afternoon he had gotten to his destination.
in a slow and patience pace, he approached the dollhouse. the town, for him, had always had a creepy feeling. maybe it was the child-like atmosphere that didn’t fit well with the adult-themed things he knew to be going on in all of wonderland. his heart ached to see a once so colorful place very slowly turn opaque in the light of war. not that war was what’s to come, but elyan knew there was something going on. he was headed to the dollmaker himself. he needed to ask the questions the queen had prepared.
the dollmaker didn't live in that town full of the inhabitants he had created himself, but in his own home away from it all. that's where elyan stopped his horse, waiting for someone to greet him and lead him inside; but no one came. he could see people knew he was there, but not one decided to show hospitality. the dollpeople were very strange, but he didn’t know they were strange to that extent.
