Under what eventually became a false promise by Alphys that he'd get his dream body after he helps her convince Asgore to allow her to become the Royal Scientist.

Alphys purposefully chooses to make Mettaton EX his least desirable body in favor of creating a body that is dangerous in both design and power. The Neo body would still be her greatest creation.

Alphys forced program his body to malfunction at any emotional implications of remorse, concern, and defiance.

Hence why he has an extra pair of arms built into his body that she can control. Juuuuuust in case he manages to override the program.

Just like his own experience with being given a false sense of friendship and promises, he does this to Frisk by reassuring them he's on their side. Then betraying them.

Even more dramatic, he swoons, and giggles.

The only way I can describe how he moves and carries himself would be just like Jessica Rabbit. Slow and Intentional, please see my vision.

Instead of saying "Oh yes" in his EX intro, he says " Daaarrrrliiiingggg~"

He can retract his extra arms, Alphys can also bring them out.

you said ufmtt doesn't have his dream body, but do we have any idea of what his dream body would possibly look like if he could have it?

His dream body would basically be this butterfly body I draw him in sometimes (updated from that poor excuse of a post-game design I did years ago)

To me in Underfell, since Mettaton is technically trapped in the body that Alphys originally has him in, he wouldn’t really go for a design similar to that one, specifically in SHAPE. Right ingredients, Wrong meal (does that make sense).

Which is why the most obvious change here is the rounded shoulder pads.

I also want to note that I know some people have complaints about how UF MTT comes off as just me torturing him for fun, it is… not that at all. It is far from that.

I just have a hard time trying to explain what he experiences, what his overarching concepts are and how it mirrors Undertale MTT.

Because I’m afraid that people will simply not understand my intention and I will be forced to reveal things about myself in order to validate it.

I’ll just start small and say some of these concepts revolve around Dysmorphia, Dysphoria, Autonomy, Self Reliance, and Rebirth. There’s more I’ll add later because

I believe Mettaton to be very important to Undertale (and dare I say Deltarune’s) entire plotline and story. His character has many many layers and I really want it to translate well in Underfell (and hopefully Defernull).

I’ll say NOW the concepts of Dysmorphia and Dysphoria that I will eventually get around to is really the horror that can come with these clashing state of minds.

Like staring at the ceiling, fully aware of every portion of your body you either hate or gives you discomfort, but you’re at the mercy of.

Especially the parts that are perceived the most.

Anyway I feel like I’m not making that much sense and getting in my head already about this brief explanation and how it might be misconstrued so here’s a picture I will paint through words.

To me UF MTT is like

Ghost- Caterpillar

MTT/MTT EX- Cocoon

MTT NEO or POST GAME- Butterfly

Is there an equivalent to the Delta Rune prophecy in Underfell?

Yes and No, because we the audience don’t know what the Deltarune ultimately entails or how it is fulfilled I can’t definitely say what the Defernull equivalent could be at this time.

For now in my head the prophecy for Defernull whilst tying in Underfell CURRENTLY revolves around the concept of:

when a mirror breaks, one missing (or shattered) piece can change the shape and reflection entirely.

When I say broken I mean you can still piece it together and the concept of the reflection is present. You are still able to see a reflected person or image. In all of their(it’s) original sense.

When a piece or pieces are completely shattered or missing the image starts to distort more and more in the mirror. Changing the image entirely, beyond from what it’s reflecting off of.

The details in how this is a realized prophecy I’ve yet to work out, but that’s like the general foundation concept right now.

I must remind everyone even though I draw some silly shit for the AU, the actual premise of the story itself is a bit more dreadful(?)LOL and I intend to explore more of that from here on out.

I’ve learned I shouldn’t beat around the bush anymore and just figure out the AU truly through answering more questions and engaging with ideas. Like I really should just allow myself to be free and yap.

Especially since the AU itself is generally perceived as a shallow edgy evil AU, which I get, but there’s depth to these characters waaaaay beyond that.

There’s reasons why they are suffering and/or become corrupted. It’s not JUST BECAUSE. You know?

But yeah kicks rock, just saying this. There will be more of me walking back and talking about the story while changing a few character designs/personalities.

This might be a bit of a stupid question, but... what is the concept of defernull...? Like, is it similar to underfell which is a darker/edgier version of undertale? So defernull is a darker/edgier version of deltarune, but everyone's base motivations are the same...?

So the way Undertale's story is a parallel to Deltarune's

is the way I'm tackling Defernull.

Defernull is Underfell's Deltarune if that makes ANY sense.

I know that Underfell is treated as a moralswap which in a way it is, but at the end of the day Underfell is really the question of " What would the characters do if the setting was hopeless?" or if everything was somehow worse before the "Story" actually starts. Think Bleak, Bleaker yet Bleaker.

Example for Underfell is that Asgore has an entirely different reaction about the War. He falls into tyrannical madness. Which created a domino effect for the rest of the monsters under his ruling.

I'm still figuring that out with Defernull, again it's a bit harder for me to get a grasp of an AU with how limited we know about the overarching story of Deltarune.

Some Motives/Personalities WILL CHANGE for Defernull, that's a given.

However I do like the idea that certain "entities" remain the same across universes/timelines. like Gaster and maybe Friend.

again limited information on these character's so I couldn't tell you atm what my thoughts are.

idea about sans meeting frisk and flowey.

im still trying to incorporate the influence of .flow (honestly yume nikki fangames in general) into UF

how maybe moments of stress/panic/sorrow would warp the setting frisk is in? sans having more power due to his own emotional instability , would be able to throttle frisk into some kind of temporary unsettling labyrinth. This kinda vibe

So, I still don't get Underfell's routes. It's clear that Betrayal replaces Genoc*de, but what does Closure/Trust replace? I always assumed that Closure replaces Neutral and Trust replaces Pacifist, but I'm not sure and I want to know if I am right. Also, if I'm not bothering you and you've got some additional time, can you explain how hard Closure and Trust routes are different from each other?

Trust would mean that Frisk achieved in making the monsters trust each other, realizing they only really have/had each other. Almost like a quick forgive and forget kinda deal without any of them talking more about it. The monsters learn to trust each other, but there’s still hurt. Some kind of weight. Specifically amongst themselves.

“You can trust me “

Closure means that Frisk got the monsters cornered enough THEY HAD to talk about it. The only way out was to talk about it. It becomes harder to forgive and forget because now the problems are real. Closure is acceptance and moving on. Forgive themselves to forgive each other.

“I’m sorry for hurting you”

Closure and Betrayal I want to say are verrrry close in terms of paths.

Do you think every UT/DT character have a fell counterpart in the au or do you think some of them remain the same? Like fell jerry is identical to ut jerry or something 😭

SO IN MY HEAD AND MY VERSION.. THERE ARE DEFINITELY CHARACTERS THAT REMAIN " THE SAME" imagine it's the same character but slightly to the left.

The way I'm basing this imaginary chart (soon to be real) is by how closely involved they are with the presence of Gaster.

or if there can be an argument that they are involved.

(Friend, The secret bosses, his followers, eram, etc etc )

I perceive Gaster as an entity that exists beyond the narrative of a singular story (Universe). A guy who is and isn't there.

His presence only exists to those who really believe in him. or maybe want something from him? He decides when to show up if one isn't a believer (idk still working on this)

If a character is relatively close with Gaster and is a presence alongside him overseeing the narrative, It is likely they won't change. ( Friend, Eram, and maybe the egg guy).

However, if a character is relatively "close" to either Gaster or One of those presences and is a character within the narrative, they will have a few changes depending on how they interact with the AU versions of the characters in the story. ( Spamton with Tenna) ( Sans with Asgore)

I HOPE THIS MAKES SENSE, I know you said this for underfell jerry and I gave you a longer answer.

I can make UF Jerry identical to UT Jerry because I also think it would be funny if he stayed the same or was maybe a different color. maybe has a fur coat too because grillby took pity on him.
