"Aren't we similar?" Sang tilted his head, "There is no place for us. Earth, Heaven, Hell. We do not belong anywhere. We are not welcome, but we exist anyway."
Atieno thinks for a moment, letting even more of his words run through them.
"I guess technically for me, I belong among the stars for sure since that's where most of my work takes place. But generally .. among the living? Perhaps there's really no reason for me to be among the living generally speaking. But I'm also.. never really going to be among the dead either.
And on that, I think we are very similar in that respect. Here we are, moving about places that can't and don't hold us particularly well. That were never going to hold us really.."
It's a reality that Atieno had been well aware of for a long, long time. They know that they didn't belong among the living, not really.
But it hadn't stopped their curiosity from moving, traveling, traveling just to have something to do with their long existence in between their duties. Perhaps finding others who simply did not fit was reason enough for them to take the risks.
"We exist anyway.... which isn't.. the worst thing if we can exist around each other, right?"
