Do you ever sit around and just Tim is so quick to forgive parental figures sometimes. Like. Once he decided to give his dad a chance, it's like he was always trying to just treat their relationship like it was always fine? I can only think of one occasion when Tim actually expressed anger towards his dad for having to be kidnapped and go into a coma before deciding to try being a parent. He demonstrated a lot of loyalty to his dad that, frankly, Jack never earned. I've mentioned before that Jack was really inconsistent even when he was trying to be a good dad, but Tim just went along with it pretty much every time? And he tried to give up Robin automatically without a fight when his dad wanted him to, and only went back when Gotham was pretty much on fire from the gang wars. And then there's Bruce, who has done some really questionable stuff with Tim but That Fucking Birthday, okay, it wasn't very IC for Bruce or Alfred but I remember it being pretty believable in how Tim reacted. And after he had some time to think about it, he basically decided that being Robin was more important than maintaining boundaries with someone who hurt him really fucking badly, and it's like he just decided to wipe it from the record without knowing that Bruce wouldn't pull something like that again. I just. Forgiveness is not supposed to be about giving people more chances to hurt you without having shown that they're going to do better. It's okay to hold a grudge against a parent if that's what you need to do to protect yourself.
