Musings of a second-time Mum
As previously mentioned, everyone loves a baby! They ALL give presents!!
The majority of gifts we have received for Darling Daughter II have been lovely/thoughtful/useful, some even inspired. A small number of gifts though, not so much…
We got a pink babygro with integrated tutu. Now, I know you don't know me, but I am not a tutu kinda person. And while you may make the very valid point that it wasn't for me, there are two counterpoints. 1. I dress the baby. While I go much more girly with her clothes than my own (her wardrobe is over 50% per cent pinks, and purples while my wardrobe is 100% black or grey), a tutu is nonetheless a step too far. 2. In the 4 months that I have known DDII, I sense that she is not a tutu person either….
Equally, and for all of the reason mentioned above, we are not a leopard-print family. Those particularly fetching leopard-print leggings/brown tunic top with the entirely inappropriate 'tres chic' plus anorexic looking lady standing under the Eiffel Tower combo…. not for us.
We also received a handmade…..thing. It might be some kind of lion. Or mouse. Or dog. We haven't worked it out yet. The hours of work that went into must have been numerous, it's sizable and clearly totally done by hand. The material is lovely, a soft fleecy white wool. But its eyes fell off within minutes of it getting through the door, and its front legs appear to grow out of its abdomen.
