Twenty-two undeveloped cellulose nitrate negatives from Ernest Shackleton's 1914-1917 Antarctic expedition were found in a darkroom at Captain Scott's expedition base in Cape Evans.
The shots show McMurdo Sound and members of the Ross Sea Party, who spent time living in Scott's hut after being stranded on Ross Island when their ship blew out to sea.
The Antarctic Heritage Trust has more info on the photos and the conditions in which they were found. It's pretty remarkable to get such a clear view into the past. It's almost eerie.
