So uh, hi
I'm Mia, and I'm pansexual.
I saw that we could share our coming out stories here, so I decided to give it a go.
I had only been questioning at the time, I wasn't entirely sure, and I didn't know too much about the LGBT community yet. I didn't even know what pansexual was. I thought I was bi at the time (I later found pan and was more comfortable with pan).
I'd told a few close friends by then, but only that I was questioning. The first person who I told a bit more surely was my mom. And she didn't react well.
It wasn't that she wasn't accepting. She studies sociology, and made sure I knew the LGBT community wasn't bad, so I already knew she was fine with it. No, she reacted negatively because, according to her, I was too young.
Now, I was newly eleven years old, so I get why she'd think that, but still, there's not really such a thing as too young in this context.
So I walked out of this conversation having been told that I was too young to be thinking about that stuff and that I was just young and confused and mistaking my platonic feelings for girls for attraction. I wasn't.
Later on she told my dad, and while I didn't know it at the time, he thought it was just a phase.
A few months later, I talked to my mom about it, telling her about what pansexual was and that I knew for sure that was what I was (now, one can never know for sure, 100%, in my opinion, but I knew it as surely as one could).
And she finally believed me.
Now, I don't know when my dad came around, but he eventually did stop thinking it was a phase. Or that's what my mom says. I haven't exactly talked to him about it, directly. Really only mentioning girls I had a crush on.
It wasn't the most eventful coming out story or anything, but it's mine. I guess I just wanted to contribute, so here.

“Alright let’s get to it then,” her words were to the point, not cutting, just curious, although she did not look at him. She had no expectations of seeing him, and at the moment she had more pressing matters of putting groceries away whilst shooing her dogs out from under food. “Why’d you come by? I though it was my job to just stop by unannounced, unless I missed an email.” That wouldn’t be new.
She shoved a few of her canvas bags into a larger one, before tossing it up onto the counter, and heaving herself up with a single fluid motion. Without even looking at him, she was already pulling out a cutting board, and a rather large chunk of meat that still needed to be processed for the freezer. “Should I change my dinner plans?”
