will and mike’s favorite thing to do is have their faces close to eachother. they love lazy kissing, and just enjoying eachother company, but sometimes they’re just SO tired and don’t have the energy for that. so instead, they lay in wills bed, all cuddled up, with their foreheads pressed together and their lips barely touching. it brings them so much comfort, and they love feeling each other’s smiles on their lips.
“Hey.”
Will turns over on his bed and finds himself face to face with his boyfriend. Thinking of Mike as his boyfriend still makes Will’s cheeks go pink after the past seven months; it’s just so surreal to have this piece of happiness for himself in Mike. Mike reaches up a hand to cup Will’s cheek and leans in to gently mouth against Will’s lips. It’s mostly a puff of air tickling at his skin but Will cherishes it anyway.
Will moves his mouth in a wordless whisper and slides his eyes shut with a smile. “How was your day?”
Mike huffs. “As good as it could be.” He rubs a thumb against Will’s cheek and Will opens his eyes once more to see Mike’s smile. “I missed you though.”
“Dork.” Will laughs, eyes dancing over the smattering of freckles donning Mike’s face. “You weren’t gone for long.”
“Yeah, still, being away from you for even a couple hours has me missing you let alone an entire weekend.” The lanky boy squirms a little closer and takes his other hand to tangle his fingers with Will’s. “I think the most annoying part of the day was waiting at the airport. I hate airports.”
Will, who had listened to Mike complain about his flights across the country for this entire month, nods slowly, preparing for another rant about noisy airports and rude passengers and maybe another story about someone trying to flirt with him. Mike doesn’t tell any stories though and simply settles himself in next to Will. His hot breathes are gentle heat against Will’s face and Will closes his eyes again with a hum. Mike leans in to press a kiss to the corner of Will’s lips. It’s barely there, Will isn’t even sure if he’s imagined it or not, but hearing Mike’s warm chuckle lets him know it happened.
“How did the interview go?” asks Will because he knows in a few minutes he won’t want to talk about much of anything.
“As good as any college interview can,” Mike sounds sleepy. Will loves when his voice gets scratchy and rough with exhaustion. He loves that he gets to hear Mike sound so vulnerable and tired enough with him to fall asleep and feel safe enough to do so. After everything they’ve been through since kids, Mike still trusts Will so deeply. “I think I passed but we’ll find out in a couple weeks I guess.”
“I know you passed. You’re an amazing speaker and any school that rejects you is making a grave mistake.”
Mike smiles and Will can feel it against his own lips. The dark haired boy parts his lips and gently takes Will’s bottom lip with both his own, adding a little pressure with a soft murmur. Will can admit he’s missed this with Mike out of state, missed feeling Mike’s warmth around him with the familiarity reminiscent of childhood blankets. The kiss is gentle, Mike is still stroking Will’s cheek but his lips are moving minuscule amounts, mostly just pressure and comfort found in this closeness they have with no one else but each other.
Will presses in a little more, flushed in the face when Mike takes an arm to Will’s waist and pulls him closer. Mike’s tongue presses against Will’s lips and he parts with a giggle, falling into the deeper kiss easily. Everything is so easy with Mike, it’s so easy to love his honest laughter and his sparkling brown eyes and his fluffy hair. Will can’t imagine loving someone the way he does Mike.
Time moves sporadically between each shared breath, the gentle push and pull of their lips pressed so close together that Will can barely tell where his mouth ends and Mike’s begins. He finds he doesn’t really care anyway when Mike’s tongue curls around his own and pulls an unexpected gasp from his lips. Mike’s hand that was previously cupping Will’s face curls up into his hair as he breaks the kiss with a wet gasp. They lay there side-by-side tasting each other’s breaths, slow and steady as they regain composure. Will cracks his eyes open to see Mike’s own closed as he stills his heart. There are bags under his eyes and Will tilts his head to kiss them away.
Mike scrunches his nose. “Babe,” he grumbles, pulling Will closer into his chest. “What’re you doing?”
“Kissing you,” murmurs Will as he drags his lips down Mike’s cheek. He purses his lips and makes a wet smack noise when he kisses Mike’s nose. “You should sleep.”
“Can’t sleep if you’re kissing me,” Mike slurs, opening one eye to peak at Will. He opens both and then goes a little crosseyed trying to keep eye contact before giving up and closing his eyes again. Will takes it as an invitation to keep peppering his boyfriend’s face with kisses. When Will huffs a small breath against Mike’s lips, Mike speaks up. “I love you.”
Will pauses, his mouth barely brushing against Mike’s, and feels his heart pick up. He will never be tired of hearing Mike say those three words. “I love you, too.”
Mike smiles, Will grins, and they press their foreheads together in mutual happiness at being reunited once more.
