Mega Man 7, the game I thought I would never see. When Mega Man X came out I thought the classic series was done, and I think most of us at the time did. I was glad that they not only went back and made Mega Man 7, but kept the X series as well. Why not have two great series of Mega Man games going right? One thing that I was never “big on” in the X series was the bosses being animal robots (Launch Octopus, Armored Armadillo, etc.) So seeing eight new classic robot masters made me very happy. Mega Man 7 has a very cool cast with some really fun level design and of course great music as to be expected from Capcom during this time. Spring Man’s stage will always stand out to me as a very fun level due to all the springs.Shade Man’s homage to Ghost and Goblins is great with its hidden stage music, but sometimes it’s not worth it to here G&G’s music because, in my opinion, Shade Man has the best theme out of all the robot masters. Freeze Man is of course my favorite of the cast and has the coolest (HA!) design out of all the ice based robot masters. It also goes without saying the addition of Bass and Treble was one of the coolest aspects of Mega Man 7. Bass was an interesting addition for sure, and of course the edgy me couldn’t get enough of his robot wolf companion. I mean a robot wolf named Treble? So much cooler than a dog named Rush right? Bass’ design though wasn’t really my cup of tea, mostly because of his helmet, I dig the rest of his style though. Mega Man 7 is tried and true, but because of that some may find this game dull after playing Mega Man X. Regardless it’s still a solid Mega Man game and worth picking up via the original cartridge or grabbing the Mega Man Legacy 2 Collection.
