The worldwide entertainment industry ground to halt in March as a result of the Coronavirus Pandemic. The lockdown has been across the board with no films, or scripted TV shows being made, and of course, no cinemas are currently open for business. According to Variety, U.K. exhibitors are presenting evidence to the government that would allow them to safely reopen doors by the end of June.
Trust Someone To Sour The Mood...
“STAR WARS - The Force Awakens” is apparently smashing box-office records everywhere, but in the UK, there’s a somewhat disturbing reason for that: the Odeon cinema chain apparently decided to impose a £2 surcharge on every ticket sold - part of a scheme, I believe, to try and “encourage” people to watch British films.
Y’know what? FUCK YOU ODEON CINEMAS. You’re NEVER getting a single penny from me again, no matter what.

UK cinemas ban Lord’s Prayer ad before ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’
Reuters, AP, November 24, 2015
London: The Church of England is threatening legal action over the rejection of a one-minute film featuring the Lord’s Prayer that it wanted to run before screenings of the new Star Wars film The Force Awakens.
Church officials say the decision not to air the prayer amounts to religious discrimination.
The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, said on Sunday it was “extraordinary” that cinemas would not show the ad in the week before Christmas.
It shows the Lord’s Prayer being recited by members of the public, including a police officer, a weight lifter and school children, each saying one line. It had been due to be shown in December before screenings of the new film.
The ad was cleared by British film classification and advertising agencies but turned down by Digital Cinema Media, which handles advertisements for major film chains in Britain.
The company said in a statement it had a policy of not accepting political or religious advertisements in case they caused offence.
“We are bewildered by the decision of the cinemas. The Lord’s Prayer is prayed by billions of people across the globe every day and in this country has been part of everyday life for centuries,” the Reverend Arun Arora, director of communications for the Church of England, said in a statement.
