“Are you sure this is his route?”
Jal leaned against the bus seat, looking around the neighbourhood with a confused glint in her eyes. Besides her sat Maxxie, who, unlike his companion, was shaking with excitement.
“Yeah it is, saw him taking this exact bus just last week.” He gushed, his smile practically blinding anyone who saw it. Maxxie played with his tiny notebook, a pen paired with it.
He had bought it a few months ago but had a major art block and left it rotting in the corner of his room, now he had a reason to bring it with him everywhere.
And that ‘reason’ was why the duo were currently hiding out in a bus.
‘Reason’ was an abnormally gorgeous male that Maxxie had encountered at school. One that was beautiful enough to quite literally make Maxxie trip over himself, something that was rare.
Maxxie could remember every single detail.
He had been running late to class because of Chris’ party the previous night, hungover out of his mind. As the bell rang, Maxxie ran faster than he was before, he could not afford to be late to another class.
His father already put him on a warning.
In his hurry he failed to notice the other person running in the same direction until it was too late.
“Ow!” Maxxie whined, smoothing over his burning bum. Not only was he late but now he was hurt. This was the worst morning ever.
A soft voice spoke, “hey, you okay?”
Maxxie looked up and his jaw dropped. In front of him stood a beautiful man, he wore a dark black ‘oasis’ tee with cargo pants which were paired with a loose belt. There was a real expensive-looking camera hanging from his neck. It weirdly made him more attractive.
“I-Uhm…y-yeah!! I’m okay” Maxxie stuttered out, cheeks blooming red. ‘Holy fuck.’ He thought to himself. This was incredibly embarrassing.
You chuckled, a bright smile plastered on your face. Maxxie felt his heart beat inhumanly fast, looking into your eyes, he could see the future.
And it was romantic.
Maxxie got back up, fixing his posture and leaned against the locker. He licked his lips seductively with a twinkle of flirtation swarming in his eyes. You blinked in surprise, your smile falling before rising once more.
The two stared at each other before you giggled out, “Uhm class?”
Maxxie paused.
Oh.
“Oh shit!” He cussed, getting off the locker. “Sorry, chat later, yeah?” Was all he could get out before he began his hurry back to class.
Looking back on it now, Maxxie regretted the way he had ended the conversation. That class wasn’t as important as meeting the love of his life, god he was an idiot.
“Hello?? Earth to Maxxie?”
Maxxie flinched at the interruption turning to face Jal, a teasing expression on her face.
“Sorry. Zoned out.”
“Yeah I know.” She replied, grinning ear to ear. “Ya know…this whole thing is quite ‘sketchy’ wouldn’t you think?”
The blond boy scowled, “urgh don’t even mention her and this is way different compared to what she was doing. I’m not stalking him.”
Jal hummed. Maxxie didn’t look amused.
“Jal. I’m serious…I’m just trying to chat him up” this time Jal’s smile was softer, less teasing. She shifted closer to Maxxie and gave him a pat on the shoulder.
The bus soon came to a stop. The duo perked up as Maxxie recognised the street sign and stared as he caught sight of you waiting by it.
His grin glowed and his cheeks bloomed.
“Look it. He’s there.”
Jal’s eyebrows rose as she caught a glimpse of the male her blond friend had been gushing about all week, she let out a tiny ‘huh’.
She turned to Maxxie, “you’ve got good eye. He’s proper fit”
“I know” the blond said moonliy, sighing to himself. The duo watched as you entered the bus and took a seat near the front, which was only a seat away from them.
Maxxie felt a nudge to his side, facing Jal he watched as she tried to signal to him. He tilted his head in confusion.
Jal sighed annoyed after waiting for a couple minutes, she leaned in closer and whispered “go talk to him!”
“What?”
“Maxxie. This is basically your only chance at making a real conversation with the man. Go on!”
She didn’t need to say anymore as Maxxie nodded and got up from their shared seat. The bus had already begun moving so it was a bit shaky but he managed to get a seat beside you.
You turned and flashed him a smile, recognition sparkling in your eyes.
“Hey, your the guy I bumped into”
The blond nodded, “yeah that’s me.”
“Never seen you on my bus before, new route?”
‘Ah fuck’ Maxxie thought to himself but his smile never wavered. He couldn’t just let you think that he was stalking you so came up with an excuse.
“Nah, my bus is out at the moment.” Yeah he had no idea what he had just said, but he could just feel the judging look from Jal.
“Huh. Well it’s nice to meet you officially. I’m Name L/n, you?”
“Maxxie. Maxxie Oliver. Nice to meet you Name.” The blond tried not to look desperate but he was absolutely buzzing as he repeated the name in his head. Even his name was hot.
You chuckled softly before your eyes glanced down to the notebook in Maxxie’s hands, “you draw or write?”
“Uh draw. One of my hobbies besides dancing.”
Your eyebrows rose up. “You dance?”
“Yeah, well tap dancing if I’m being specific.” Maxxie said as he adjusted his position, secretly moving closer to you. Your thighs grazing against each other.
He was one hundred percent sure you noticed. The way your eyes just briefly glanced at the closed gap indicated that to Maxxie.
Your silence gave him confidence.
“I saw you with a camera, a proper one. You take pictures?” The blond asked.
You nodded, “yeah I do part-time photography. Good profit off of it around here.”
“Really?” Maxxie paused to think, “wanna show me some?”
You nodded once again before reaching inside his backpack, you brought out the expensive camera. Maxxie watched as you fiddled with the buttons, you looked real cute from this angle. Then again Maxxie thought you were attractive all over.
As you handed over the camera, Maxxie began taking closer looks at the photos.
Each one had high resolution which made them look even more incredible. The images were a mix of beautiful sky lines, plants and a few people Maxxie could only guess were your friends.
He could practically feel the art behind each picture, each shot told a story. You were fucking good at your job that was all Maxxie knew.
As he scrolled, he paused as he caught sight of a familiar blonde. The photo was taken outside, near a park Maxxie supposed. The blonde was standing on top of a bench looking over a skyline, the sun was setting and a rosy pink sky illuminated the scene. Her hands were up in the air like she was reaching for the skies, her slightly wavy blonde hair flowing, the wind blowing it gently.
Maxxie’s eyebrows narrowed. “You…You know Cassie?”
“Mhm. We used to be neighbours before I moved, we kept in contact though. Pretty girl.” Your words stirred an uneasy feeling in Maxxie, his thoughts spiralling.
‘Pretty girl? I mean she totally is but did he mean that in a friendly manner or a ‘I really like this girl manner?’ the blond swallowed his saliva harshly, he quickly gave the camera back to you.
“You okay, mate?” But Maxxie stayed silent, he could only offer a smile before he went off at the next stop, Jal hurrying behind him.
You watched in utter confusion. ‘Is he not going to school?’
“Maxxie! Max wait up!” The girl called after him, worry lacing in her tone.
She caught up to him and grabbed his elbow, tugging him backwards. “What’s wrong? What happened?”
“I don’t think he’s into guys..”
Jal narrowed her eyebrows, “has that ever stopped you before?”
Maxxie only gave her a look.
“C’mon it must be more than that.”
“He knows Cassie.” Maxxie finally said, biting his lips as he stared at the concrete ground.
“So what?”
The blond groaned, “so it means if he likes her I should just…back off? I mean the way he was speaking about her just gave off the vibes they were real close.”
The duo walked in silence, though Jal took the initiative to hold his arm.
“It’s just…I don’t want to get between shit like that. The whole issue with Tony and Michelle was one thing, I don't want this to be another.”
Jal hummed, “I get that but perhaps we shouldn’t just jump to conclusions. Maybe they are just friends?”
“Maybe…Thanks Jal.”
“No problem.” The two grinned at one another. Maxxie just hoped she was right, after all you were just his type.
The blond boy took a quick seat beside Anwar and Chris, getting out a sandwich from his lunch bag. The group were sitting in the cafeteria, talking about the latest gossip around the college.
He failed to notice a certain blonde approaching him until she stood behind Maxxie, tapping on his shoulder. The boy turned around and sent the girl a quick grin.
“Hey.”
“Hi” Cassie copied his grin, she gave a quick nudge to Chris to give her some space on the seats. Chris quickly moved aside.
She took his spot, now sitting right besides Maxxie.
“You met my friend Name, yeah?”
“Yeah. Nice guy.”
Cassie rose her eyebrows and moved them in a suggestive manner. Maxxie froze, tilting his head to the side in a questioning manner.
He leaned in close, “did he, ya know, say something about me?”
“Mhm!”
His eyes grew wide and a pang of excitement hit him, “what did he say?”
The excitement disappeared when Cassie only shook her head and made a ‘shh’ motion with her finger.
“Secret.” Was all she said before she entered her day dreaming state once more. Maxxie pursed his lips, annoyed at the lack of answer.
“Cassie, please just tell me.” He begged, hands clasped together as if he were praying. “I need to know.”
She stared quiet for a few moments, contemplating whether she should say something or not. Cassie glanced at Maxxie’s pure desperation and sighed to herself.
She took out her phone and sent him an address, “someone’s throwing a party tonight. Name’s going. Ask him yourself.”
Maxxie stared at the address. If Name really did say something about him then perhaps he wasn’t as straight as he thought he was.
He looked up at Cassie. If Cassie is clearly trying to set the two of them together, then that meant that Cassie and Name definitely weren’t an item.
Fuck it. I’m going.
Jal and Maxxie stood in front of a huge house, lights exploding as music pounded loud enough to hear from the outside. They watched as various people entered, drinks in hands and their laughter echoing in the night.
“Impressive party.” Jal noted, her eyes inspecting the area with a glint of energy. She wasn’t one to go to these but Maxxie had begged her to join him.
Tony was apparently dealing with something that concerned Michelle, Cassie and Sid went to go ‘hang’, and Anwar was partying somewhere else with Chris. The entire group of party goers were out and about which left only Jal, who had been hard to convince.
Maxxie nodded, looking around to catch a certain someone around the area. When he didn’t, he turned to Jal, “let’s go inside.”
The two entered the home and it was jam packed inside. People roared with energy, high off whatever drugs that had been taken. Others were seen having on-clothing sex in corners.
The girl winced. “Jesus this might just be the horniest party I’ve been to.”
“Must’ve not been to a lot.” Maxxie snorted, amusement written on his face. He chuckled when Jal pinched him lightly on his waist.
“C’mon let’s just go find your Prince Charming”
“Let’s just hope we do more than just dancing then.”
“Oh my god max!” The girl pretended to gag, eliciting loud laughter from Maxxie. He dragged her through the booming crowd, searching for anyone that had familiar features.
Which was much harder than they thought it’d be.
The two sat on a somewhat clean couch, hopelessness clear on their faces. Jal was holding a plastic cup with one hand the other was resting on her jaw, she let out a couple of sighs.
Maxxie wasn’t doing any better. His posture was slouched in an uncomfortable position, slightly tipsy with glazed over eyes. His hair was messed up, sticking out all in the wrong places.
It had been hours and yet there was no sight of Name anywhere.
“You think he’s gone?” Maxxie asked tiredly.
Jal let out another tired sigh. “Don’t know. Possibly.”
“Fuck…this shit sucks.”
“You okay?” The two stopped their mopping immediately, quickly turning their attention onto you.
Maxxie sobered up, he sat straighter and fixed his hair. “Name! Your here!”
You sent them an awkward smile paired with a wave.
“Yeah I was looking for you actually.” You told him, “Cassie said you were coming.”
“For me?”
“Yup.”
Maxxie nudged Jal, she glanced in between the two boys before getting up.
“I’ll give you two some privacy.” She said softly before leaving.
The two of you were quiet, neither knowing exactly what to say. You took the chance to sit besides Maxxie, taking his drink away from him and taking a quick sip.
You grimaced. “what did they put in this?”
Maxxie chuckled, “whiskey with a touch of destruction.”
As you raised your eyebrows at him, he grew embarrassed at his little joke but that soon went away when you descended into laughter.
“Are you usually this hilarious?"
“Sometimes. Wanna hear another one?”
“Yes. Please.”
The rest of the night was spent with laughter. Maxxie couldn’t believe you actually found him this funny, he could see tears forming in the corners of your eyes. This wasn’t like most of his hook ups, never really had a conversation last this long before they’d go upstairs to fuck.
Maxxie enjoyed this new pace.
At some point, you had brought out a mini camera, one that you had stuffed in your hoodie pocket before leaving.
Positioning it in the right angles, it was easy to take photos of Maxxie. He was a perfect model, amazingly photogenic and had a beautiful smile. One that you could look at forever and never get tired of it.
“Take a picture!” Maxxie exclaimed, he had gotten up from his seat and was posing as you spammed your camera button.
“Try this Pose” you demonstrated a pose for him, watching as he replicated your stance with ease.
The two of you were lost in your own world, completely ignoring drunk/high teenagers that surrounded you.
Maxxie hadn’t had this much fun in a long while, especially with someone he viewed as a potential romantic partner. You knew exactly how to make him laugh and you just met! That was all it took to Maxxie to know you were the one for him.
You scrolled through your camera roll, now standing next to Maxxie watching as he leaned in closer to inspect the photos.
“That one’s nice, it has both in it.” Maxxie pointed towards the photo with the two of you holding each other, it was in selfie mode and Maxxie had grabbed you by the waist line and snuggled in close. The coloured lights reflected on your face, green and blue. It made the picture look incredible.
“Good eye.”
As he turned to you, the two of you finally realised how close you guys were. Only a few inches apart.
Maxxie felt his world stop just for a moment. Your hands were just barely brushing against each other, tension rising higher than before.
His eyes flickered to your lips.
“Hey listen…about what happened on the bus, I just…thought you had a thing with Cassie.” He confessed slowly, watching closely for a reaction.
“Cass? Hah no way.” You shook your head, “I’m not really into girls.”
“Oh?” Maxxie gaped, he was stunned for a brief moment before a flirty smirk immediately grew on his face.
“Yeah, thought Cassie would’ve mentioned it to you.” You blushed under his gaze, “told her that I found you real attractive…”
‘So that’s what he said..’ Maxxie beamed, ‘it’s official. I’m going in for it.’
He leaned in closer than before, you could feel the heat of his breath on your neck. He tugged your body closer using your belt. His smirk grew wider at your flustered expression.
“Should’ve made that more clear.” He whispered in your ear, his lips attached onto your neck for a short moment but it was long enough to elicit a breathy moan from you.
Your eyes sparked with desire, “thought it was obvious enough…”
“Nah but it’s cool.” Maxxie said reassuringly. He paused, “wanna make out?”
You didn’t need to share an answer as you smashed your lips against his. The two of you fight for dominance but Maxxie easily overtakes you as he shoves you back on the couch. He takes the seat besides you before he tugs your entire body and makes you straddle on top of him.
“Fuck..” Maxxie whimpers as you bite his lip, giving you access to shove your tongue inside. His hands guide your hips, your clothed parts rubbing against his, your stomach exploded with butterflies at the movements.
You could feel his hard on through his pants, the outline of his dick getting clearer as you continued to dry hump him.
He pulled away from the kiss, you whined as he did so but let out a moan once more when Maxxie moved to suck your neck. His tongue licking over the spot where he marked you.
“W-we should go…there’s a room free upstairs.” You whispered breathlessly, freeing your neck away from a needy Maxxie.
Maxxie nodded in agreement, he licked his lips and pecked your cheek. “This…this isn’t just a one night stand to me. Are you alright with that?”
“Yeah I’m alright with that.” You snickered when his eyes visibly lit up. You got off his lap and off the couch, your hands still intertwined with Maxxie’s allowed him to follow your lead.
Maxxie couldn’t believe how lucky he was and all it took was to be late for a class…he was going to brag about this for years to come.
But for now, he was in the arms of the guy he liked and he wasn’t about to let this night go to waste.
He should definitely take pictures of this. He smiled at his thoughts as he followed you up the stairs.
‘No regrets.’
Best night of his life.
