i’m also mostly disappointed in ulgrude cause the protector of the month i was born with can’t be the suckiest one what the hell
i honestly wish they’d focus more on how ulgrude is a legitemate cinnamon bun with negative social skills and a high sense of justice that sometimes accidentally hurts people because he’s a thunder elemental and spontaneity is his nature, he does not have the ability to control or even hide what he thinks
ulgrude seeing everything in black and white would be good and if for example someone treated him the way jiva does in the manga he’d probably never talk to them again cause its clear they hate him, but more subtle individuals can leave him very confused
it would also be nice for once to see a character attracted to another for a reason other than “wow she’s pretty”
ulgrude could have easily joined the ranks of the protectors specifically because he wanted to be like jiva, jiva is his role model, jiva is his hero, jiva is what he aspires to become, but too bad for him he forgot to read that the rules of the protectors specifically forbid alliances
ulgrude’s side of the story should prolly focus more on how someone like him actually looses his spark over his repeated failure and having no actual goals that are achieveable that it eventually builds up to him willingly giving his life away to save jiva in an attempt to make up to her (not “lol lets die together cause its romantic despite how you clearly hate me” ugh)
