Do you have any advice for someone who wants to get into painting digitally? Like what art programs to use, brush settings, etc?

I use Manga Studio 5 and generic brush settings, if I can be honest. I find it works the best for me, and the pen stabilizer works wonders for my jittery abuela hands. 😂😂😂

The best advice I can possibly give to anyone who’s just starting out is to mess around with different techniques, settings, and programs until you find something that works for you! Medibang and FireAlpaca (are they the same??idek man) are amazing programs to start off with, and they're 1000% free~

It also doesn’t hurt to take notes from artists that inspire you, as long as you’re not literally copying their work. Try watching an artist’s livestream. (I used to watch a ton of Slugbox’s streams when I was just starting out, and his demonstrations really helped me get the hang of my own art!) Closely follow what they’re doing to complete a piece, then practice what you learned with some pieces of your own. ^^

Jessica (your oc) I think that's her name, dies for a short time. Who is the first person she meets in hell/heaven/etc and what do they say to each other. 2 paragraphs only before she is resuscitated via her own healing

Okay, so my immediate thought was “well, one of her parents of course!” but…to her her aunt and uncle are her parents. She calls them mama and papi. They did all the parent things. They raised her. Part of her is vaguely guilty bc she doesn’t want Rosa (her aunt. i don’t wanna go back and forth between calling her Jessie’s aunt or mom so I’m just gonna Go With Her Name) to think she’s ignoring her birth mom or doesn’t care abt her but……..Jessica literally doesn’t remember her. She was 2 when they died. Plus Rosa has pictures and stories of Elena. Even though Jessica doesn’t remember, she knows.

Her dad, on the other hand, is a different story. He was always secretive abt his past and his family (for reasons! I don’t wanna spoil it bc I do plan on writing a short story abt it for Original Verse but it’s Really Important to me) so she just doesn’t know. She only knows the vague details that Rosa gleaned from the ~5 years she knew Horatio before he died. Jessie has dealt with her powers on her own for years. That shit is hard. She spent years feeling weird and disconnected from the people she cares abt the most. Her parents and siblings tried their best to make her feel Normal but there were things they just didn’t get that Jessie would’ve given anything to talk to someone abt.

SO I think she’d see her dad? Bc she has so many questions she wants answers to. Is she doing the right thing? Is he happy she’s following in his footsteps or did he want her to do something else? Is he………is he proud of her, at least?

(The answer is yes. Yes, yes, always yes, mija.)

Ayyy gurllll When are you going to stream again?

Soon, hopefully! I actually (re)set-up all my equipment and whatnot earlier today, so I am subconsciously ready! I’m thinking of kicking off my streams with SOMA (I’ve heard it’s pretty scurry) or Until Dawn (assuming I get it for Christmas).

I’ve got a plan, just have to put it back into motion!

Y’ryssa: Getting to Eorzea, actually. Keeping her piece of shit airship in the air all the way from Sharlayan (the home island, not the colony) was like fighting a constant war because all she could afford was an old beater that required constant looking after. She didn’t get to sleep for several days, and it was a real test of her determination and repair skills. And ability to focus.

Mirax: One of her first cons using her sweet little conjurer-healer cover identity. She had already developed a seething hatred of Lalafells by that point and she managed to sweet-talk a Syndicate businessman into giving her a crate of canned food as a ‘donation’. Kept her and West fed for weeks.

Asami: Getting out of her home in Doma alive, actually. Her father had gone full Imperial by that point and finding out that one of his daughters was feeding information to the Resistance ended poorly.

Y’ryssa: The smell of old books, getting a new artifact, starting a new digsite, Kalren Ardesh

Mirax: Opening a new tube of paint, plentiful food of whatever quality, getting to spend time with her sister, sitting out on the ledge outside her apartment windows looking down on everyone

Snowdrop: Describe a time they felt hope.

Y’ryssa: Rys doesn’t really get the concept of ‘hope’ because it’s a wishy-washy sort of thing. Things either happen or they don’t, there’s no point obsessing over desired outcomes.

Mirax: When she found out West was starting a legitimate business, actually. She’s sort of hoping it’s an opportunity to finally stop needing to do crime to make ends meet, and the better it does the more she lets herself think maybe she’s finally done and they’re going to be alright.
