Ulder hasn't pursued a relationship since his partner, Francesca, passed away. Halsin has spent much of his life stuck in a leadership role he never wanted. Together, they learn to support each other -- and find comfort in each other's arms. (And then sneak off for a blow job at Wyll and Astarion's wedding, as one does.)

can i ask u to explain the halsin/ulder vision i need to get it…

LMAO okay the real answer is that I was discussing who to pair ulder with in a server and we had a long discussion and I latched onto the halsin idea for a few reasons but mostly because I think halsin's wise and more laid-back nature AND his experience dealing with guilt would be very therapeutic for Ulder. other reasons include:

Both have experience being leaders of their people but in very different ways, and they could share a lot of philosophical discussions over it

Halsin could use his shadow-curse experience (and the scrapped idea that he killed isobel, which I still view as canon in my mind lol) and his centuries of experience to help Ulder forgive himself and move forward

I think they could have fun wity-but-pragmatic banter

I think the dilfs should fuck

It didn’t quite reach his eyes. “And it takes a dishonorable man to cast his son away in his time of need.” Halsin turned to look at Ulder. “You strike me as a man who carries an immense amount of guilt.” Ulder snorted. “And you strike me as a man with little grasp on the rituals of polite society.” Halsin laughed. “Be it so." --- Standing alone in the back of Wyll's wedding, Ulder contemplates the nature of fatherhood, who his son has become, and the thick hunk of an elf Wyll calls his friend.
