KWF SummerSlam: Sunday 21st August 2011 – STAPLES Center. Los Angeles, CA.
Sunday 21st August 2011 – STAPLES Center. Los Angeles, CA.
We’re shown an opening video for tonight’s KWF pay-per-view, SummerSlam! ♫It’s alright! It’s alright, it’s alright, it’s alright! Bright lights and the Big City!♫ We see numerous clips of action from SummerSlam’s from yesteryear, from the Mega Powers defeating DiBiase and Andre in 1988, right up to last year’s three-way dance between The Rock, Sting and Goldberg, in which Goldberg emerged victorious only to be Sweet Chinned by the returning HBK. What memorable moments will KWF SummerSlam 2011 throw up? We know that one of TNA RAW’s matches on the card will be the spectacle of an Ultimate-X match for the X-Division Title. Ultimate-X is becoming a yearly theme at KWF’s SummerSlam and this time round its Justin Gabriel who goes in as Champion. He’s had much help from his World Elite comrades in defending the Belt so far, but Ultimate-X is a whole new game – and Impact SmackDown’s Alex Shelley will be a part of it! Also from TNA RAW we know that matches include a Knockouts Title match under tag rules as Panther’s choice Kaitlyn partners Maryse against Angelina Love and Velvet Sky! Panther himself defends his United States Title against former friend Shelton Benjamin, and the legendary Dudley’s defend their WWE Tag Titles against Legacy. On the Blue side of the pay-per-view Impact SmackDown will give us Rob Van Dam and Dolph Ziggler’s respective rematches for their previous Titles. Van Dam will face The All-American American Jack Swagger in a First Blood match for Hardcore Gold and Ziggler will take on ‘The Pope’ D’Angelo Dinero, vying to get back his Intercontinental Title. We know that the TNA World Tag Team Titles will be on the line also as Champions Harlem Heat defend against Rick and Scott Steiner and the WCW Title will be defended tonight as Kevin Nash will look to again fend off the challenge from Jeff Jarrett. Randy Orton will defend the TNA World Heavyweight Championship against the number one contender Chris Jericho! And don’t forget, back on the Red side, Triple H was thrown a curve ball from TNA RAW GM as his rematch for the WWE Championship is going to be under Triple Threat rules against Champion The UnderTaker and the Phenomenal AJ Styles! Thank you for joining us, we are Live in Los Angeles! ♫Bright lights! Bright lights! Bright lights and the Big City!♫
Mike Tenay and Tazz bring us in as the fans go wild for the explosive pyro’s on stage. Tazz says that he’s been looking forward to this for quite some time and Tenay reminds us that SummerSlam weekend begun with a Title change this past Friday night on Impact SmackDown. Tazz: “Yeah that’s right Mike err, it was a great match that we had, Diva’s Title on the line in the main event and after a provocative Three-Way Dance between Tamina, Madison Rayne and Mickie James, it was Mickie who came out on top and the floatin’ butterflies of Miss Hardcore Country carry the Diva’s Championship into KWF SummerSlam.” Tenay: “Tazz it was an excellent main event that showed the women can wrestle and put on a show just as well as the guys, but that was Friday. Tonight we bring the fans some more amazing action and we start off with the United States Title! Michael Cole, King, over to you!”
“Thanks guys, yes we are here at the biggest party of the summer, and King, I’m immensely excited about what we set to see tonight.” “You’re not alone Michael. SummerSlam is always a spectacle, one of my favorite pay-per-views and I can’t wait!” Cole and King run through the matches we can expect from TNA RAW, including the massive main event where Triple H, AJ Styles and The UnderTaker will contest a Triple Threat match for the WWE Title. “But let’s kick things off with another highly sought after Championship, as The Gold Standard, Shelton Benjamin tries to win the United States Title from his former buddy Panther!” Godsmack’s ♫The Enemy♫ hits and the Champ makes his way out to the ring. He is Maryse-less, and Cole explains that she is preparing for her Knockouts Title defense a little later on.
Panther vs. Shelton Benjamin – U.S. Title
Benjamin gets a great reception from the fans, which seems to anger his opponent. The match begins and the two of them stare each other down, before trading blows. Panther starts to get the better of things, hitting Shelton with punches, and the fans boo. Shelton blocks one and all of a sudden fights back, firing Panther with rights. He forces him against the ropes, before clotheslining him over the top. The fans cheer as Shelton raises his arms to them, before going to the outside himself. As the action continues at ringside, Cole and King remind us how this match came about. From the inception of the KWF in July 2009 up until late 2010, Panther and Shelton were both part of the successful ‘Thundercat’ faction along with Edge, AJ Styles, Bobby Lashley and Trish Stratus. Panther was the X-Division representative and Shelton won numerous Tag Titles with Styles. They rode together from show to show, but just after Survivor Series last year, Panther quit the group to seek individual honors. Soon after, the rest of the T-cats decided to split. Lashley was abducted by The Dark Side and turned into his ‘Absolute’ self that we have in the KWF today. Trish Stratus enjoyed Knockouts Title success, but lost a career-on-the-line match against Angelina Love at KWF WrestleMania. Edge retired due to his health and Shelton and AJ were the only real Thundercats left, but they too both sought individual success after having prevailed in becoming TNA and WWE Tag Team Champions. Styles went on to win Money In The Bank at this year’s WrestleMania, and he still carries that briefcase today. Panther decided to turn his back on his fans and friends and join the World Elite, where he immediately won the United States Title from the Big Show. He has held onto the Belt through various underhanded methods, and has taken great pleasure in keeping the Title out of American hands. However, after beating The Miz in a number one contender’s match, Shelton became next in line to challenge, and he is really taking it to his former ally.
Shelton has Panther against the barrier, and goes for an audacious Stinger Splash, but Panther moves, just like he did when these two faced off in mixed-tag action on Monday. Like Monday, Shelton anticipates the move and lands on the top of the barrier, before springing back and hitting a cross body on the World Elite member. The fans are loving how Shelton is taking the fight to Panther, and the action moves back into the ring. Benjamin hits a modified T-Bone suplex and makes the pin, but Panther gets his foot on the rope. “Shelton’s close here King, the US Title could be coming back to America.” However, Panther manages to get back into things after a rake to the eyes. He sends Shelton against the ropes, before an under/over followed by a standing dropkick. He raises his arm to the crowd, who boo back. Panther controls things for a while from this point, getting Shelton in a couple of submission moves to try and wear him down. He has a modified ankle lock on, but Shelton fights back and kicks him. Panther doesn’t let go, but Shelton is able to get on his other foot, before swinging his leg around and hitting a Dragonwhip Kick on Panther. He goes for PayDirt, but Panther blocks, before hitting a spinebuster. Panther signals for the end, and heads for the top rope and the crowd boo. As he is about to go for the Sword of Omens, he looks out to the crowd and says, “This is for the World Elite!”, before Shelton kips up and joins him on the top rope, wrapping his arm around and pulling him down to the canvas for an unbelievable PayDirt from way up high! “Oh my God! What a move!” King shouts as Benjamin hooks the leg. 1… 2… 3!
Winner and New United States Champion: Shelton Benjamin.
The crowd go absolutely berserk as Shelton is announced as the new United States Champion. “Finally the United States Title is back in American hands! Shelton Benjamin has ripped the Belt from his ex-associate, and the World Elite are not going to like this one bit.” “Ohh I can’t believe this Michael, how dare Benjamin leap like a cat against the only real feline in the KWF?! Shelton should be saying sorry for what he just did.” “King it matters not, The Gold Standard is just as athletic as Panther and ladies and gentlemen, we’ve begun KWF SummerSlam with a Title changing hands!” Benjamin celebrates with his newly acquired Belt, as Panther eventually rolls out of the ring.
Throughout 2011 Rob Van Dam has carried the Hardcore Championship with pride. He’s fended off challenges from Tommy Dreamer at ReBirth, Kazama Kam at Turbulence and he even defeated The Monster Abyss at KWF WrestleMania in a Monster’s Ball match. Van Dam has done it all in Pro Wrestling, but in the Keystone Wrestling Federation he’s found his hunger for Hardcore again. At Sovereignty 3 RVD’s challenger was Jack Swagger and the All-American American laid insult to the Hardcore Division by removing weapons from under and around the ring prior to the show’s opening and thus Swagger was able to manipulate the match so that he’d come out with the Gold. RVD couldn’t believe it and Swagger was named the first ever All-American American Hardcore Champion. KWF’s Hardcore Ambassador Mick Foley then agreed with RVD that what Swagger done was out of line and not in keeping with the tradition and mayhem of ‘Hardcore’. Therefore Foley made Rob Van Dam’s rematch for the Belt as First Blood. Will Jack Swagger be able to overcome the true Hardcore challenge of RVD? We find out next at KWF SummerSlam!
Jack Swagger’s music hits and as he enters the fans boo like hell because Swagger’s dressed in a diver’s body-suit. Tenay: “Oh can you believe this Tazz? A wet-suit? God, Jack Swagger will do anything to keep the Hardcore Belt, but I thought he’d at least have the guts to face RVD fairly tonight.” Tazz: “Aah, come on man, there’s no ‘fair’ in the love and war of Hardcore. Swagger’s smart and he’s doing all he can to win. He knows that the ref won’t be able to detect blood easily in that apparel, hell it’s covering his whole body. I know you don’t like it, and the fans hate it, but give Swagger his due, this is very smart.” Rob Van Dam’s music hits and he enters as usual doing his thumb-taunt toward the fans. He sees how Swagger’s dressed and once he gets in the ring we watch the current Hardcore Champ even put goggles on over his eyes. Before the bell rings Tenay yelps “Every part of Jack Swagger is covered and protected, how on earth is Van Dam going to win this?!”
Jack Swagger vs. Rob Van Dam – First Blood match for the Hardcore Title
Van Dam talks to the referee and the ref says that there’s nothing he can do. We can imagine Jack Swagger smiling through all his ring attire and the fans boo as he then mocks Rob Van Dam by taunting his thumb-taunt toward the booing audience. Van Dam goes at Swagger from behind for a body-scissor pinning predicament, but Swagger rolls through and rolls out to point at Van Dam. We hear him through camera mic as he says “You can’t beat me! No pin-falls RVD, haha!” The fans boo as Van Dam then runs at Swagger who comically leaps out the ring. Swagg runs toward the ramp, but Van Dam manages to get close enough to yank on the goggles over Swagger’s eyes. The fans laugh as the goggle’s are turned the other way and Swagger momentarily can’t see. RVD takes them off Swagger’s head and just as he regains his vision, Van Dam spin-kicks him right between the eyes and Swagger hits the floor. The fans cheer RVD as he goes to strip Swagger, but finds it difficult to find any opening so the only part that he can expose of Swagg is his head as he rips off the head protection. Swagger tries to move away from RVD as much he can, but just as Van Dam thinks he has Swagger set for a move, the All-American American dashes under Van Dam and trips him so that RVD’s head smashes into the steel steps. Now Swagger is on top and he goes toward the audience to push a young fan out the way before grabbing a steel chair. He stands over RVD and whacks him in the back before kicking at his gut. Swagger trash-talks, telling Van Dam that he is a worthy Champion.
The fans boo as Swagger then goes into the ring to do a victory lap with steel chair in hand. This is a mistake though as it allows RVD to recuperate and we watch as Van Dam then lifts the ring apron to take out and throw contents of a trash can into the ring. Tazz jokes that the title can be a book; “Memoirs of a Geisha followed by Contents of a Trash Can, nice, haha.” Swagger bats down every thrown weapon with the steel chair and finally RVD looks to get in the ring, but Swagg smashes the chair in Van Dam’s direction and so the challenger can’t get in. RVD then decides to go for the Hardcore Title, but just as he gets to the timekeepers corner we watch as Swagger runs out the ring after him and slams Van Dam over his back with a steel chair. The fans boo as Swagger gains control now, bashing RVD’s head off the announcers table before rolling him back in the ring. The fans boo as Swagger uses a kendo stick to thwart RVD. He smashes him with a steel chair multiple times over his body and then does another victory lap before bashing Van Dam with a trash can, befalling him to the foot of the ramp. The fans boo as the comms declare that Swagger may have finally found himself getting used to Hardcore rules, but then as he goes to ringside the tides turn and RVD dominates Swagger up the ramp. Tazz states that he likes Swagger, but “to be Hardcore you gotta be able to take a beating as well as give it. I think Swagger’s finding out now that hand sanitizer’s and mittens on a cold day won’t get you anywhere if you’re the Hardcore Champion.” RVD and Jack Swagger battle back and forth up the ramp and onto the stage where Van Dam decks Swagg onto the steel grate where he then climbs some stage scaffolding to thumb-taunt and then leap onto Swagger for a an amazing version of the Rolling Thunder. The audience scream in approval, breathless at that move. Van Dam is now at a point where he’s thinking up a finish, but is yet to do any damage that can make Swagg bleed. The match goes on and the two are by the edge of the stage where Van Dam is looking to suplex Swagger to the equipment below the stage. The audience gasp as Swagger fights back and almost pushes RVD off, but no, Van Dam manages to lift Swagger for the suplex and we watch as the move is delayed, almost in slow motion, and Swagger is biting the forehead of RVD mid-move. *SMASH* Van Dam and Swagger go off the edge of the stage and crash hard into the equipment below. The fans chant ‘Ho-ly Sh*t!’ ‘Ho-ly Sh*t!’ ‘Ho-ly Sh*t!’ but the referee raises Swagger’s hand and calls for the bell!
Winner and Still Hardcore Champion: Jack Swagger.
The fans are left wondering what the hell happened and we then zoom into Van Dam’s face and his forehead is bleeding. Tenay and Tazz review the replays of the final move of the match where Swagger bit Rob Van Dam’s forehead and it seems that the bite did the trick. Van Dam’s bleeding and so Jack Swagger retains. We watch as Van Dam rolls himself off the equipment and he’s telling off the referee. The ref says that it was First Blood rules and RVD’s bleeding, so Swagger wins. Van Dam hates this, he can’t believe that Swagger’s gotten away with the Hardcore Title again. Van Dam looks over to Swagger, who’s still laid out and hurting from the suplex. He then climbs the ramp to get himself back on stage. The fans cheer him on as he looks down at the All-American American’s body and he thumb-taunts toward the fans. “Tazz, what’s he thinking here?!” “Oh Mike, RVD’s livid my man, he’s about to go old school on Swagger man!” Van Dam positions himself at an angle and the fans then scream as he leaps off to Five St*r Frog Splash right off the stage and through the Hardcore Champion! “Aaaahh!” yelps Mike Tenay as the fans chant RVD’s name! Van Dam crashes through Swagg’s body and EMT’s and referee’s are at the scene in double quick-time. Tenay: “What an end to the First Blood match! Perhaps we were cheated out of a classic by Jack Swagger, but Rob Van Dam gives us all he’s got and he’s shown us what Hardcore’s all about!” Tazz finishes: “Yeah Mike, I mean I still think Swagger’s smart in what he did, but I’m all for Hardcore man and Van Dam just showed us what it means to put your life on the line for this business and more importantly, our fans.”
We see a video of the world famous Dudley Boyz. It chronicles a number of their 27-Career Tag Team Titles, from ECW, WCW, WWE and TNA, including the four they’ve won in KWF. However, a few weeks ago they were called out by young upstarts, Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes. Legacy went on a tirade accusing The Dudley’s Titles of being false, claiming most of them were won in shopping malls in front of three men and a goat. They suggested that Bubba-Ray and Devon were the ghosts of wrestling past, but that Legacy are wrestling’s present and future. Understandably, The Dudley’s took exception to this and a rivalry ensued. Weeks of talking and random attacks have led to this battle, old versus new, The Dudley’s versus Legacy, Live next at KWF SummerSlam!
The Dudley Boyz vs. Legacy – WWE Tag Team Championships
The fans give great applause for Bubba and Devon, and roundly boo Legacy. There’s some standard jaw-jacking, before the match finally begins. Devon and Cody start things off, with Devon starting aggressively, clearly trying to teach the young Rhodes a lesson in respect. He throws him into the corner, before squashing him, and then hitting a body slam. A dropped elbow leads to the first pin attempt, but Rhodes kicks free at Two. Devon tags in Bubba-Ray, who carries on the harsh treatment. He hits an atomic elbow to the head, and then a leg drop, before also getting a near fall. Cody looks all over the place. He tries to make the tag to Ted, but the experienced Bubba doesn’t let him, and drags him by the foot to the corner, where he tags in Devon. He spreads Cody’s legs and waits for Devon to go up top. King says that this is one of the only things he likes about the Dudley’s; “Whaaas Uuuupp?!” Devon leaps off and headbutts Rhodes’ unmentionables. The Tag Champs do the “Get the tables!” taunt with the fans, but the referee rules that out. The Dudley’s look disappointed, shrug, and yell “Three-D!” They grab Cody and set up for the 3-D, but Ted soon comes in and breaks it up. The Dudley’s see him off to the outside, but the distraction allows Cody to roll to the outside for some recovery time. Bubba and Devon follow them as the action continues.
Both Cody and Ted are able to turn the tables, as they play possum on the outside. Ted works over Devon, while Cody gets some revenge on Bubba. Devon is slammed into the steps and Bubba is pushed into the barrier. The official gets out and tries to restore order. The Dudley’s WWE Tag Titles are on the line, and Legacy are clearly desperate to fulfill their promise and take them. The action continues in the ring, as Ted works over Devon. He hits his falling fist, before stomping away at the former Reverend. He gets Devon up and hits him with punches, before coming off the rope and hitting a clothesline and Ted gets a near fall. DiBiase taunts Bubba, who tries to get in and attack him. The ref stops him, which allows Cody to come in and Legacy to perform a double backbreaker on Devon. As the ref turns, Cody exits and Ted goes for a pin, but Devon kicks out. Ted picks him up and yells in his face, before going for Dream Street, but Devon blocks it, before hitting a piledriver from nowhere! “Aah!” King shrieks. Devon scrambles over and makes the hot tag to Bubba, who comes in all guns blazing, knocking down Ted, throwing Cody into the ring over the rope, and then hitting a big boot on DiBiase. The fans are on their feet, anticipating a 3-D and the end coming soon. Ted, holding his head, makes the tag to Cody while Bubba checks with Devon as to whether he’s okay to perform their finisher. Cody comes in and knees Bubba in the back. He has to stop himself from falling into the referee. Cody quickly grabs Bubba and nails him with Cross-Rhodes! The fans are in shock as Cody Rhodes makes the pin and Legacy win the match.
Winners and New WWE Tag Team Champions: Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase, Legacy.
Legacy immediately exit the ring and grab their new Belts. The fans boo roundly as Devon looks on in shock. “Legacy just stole one right there King, using a near collision with the official to get the win.” “What are you talking about Michael, that was simple opportunism, a quality that creates Champions, which is exactly what Legacy are - just like they said they would be.” Cody and Ted look ecstatic as they exit up the ramp. The Dudley’s are fuming back in the ring.
“Wow, can you believe it Tazz, new WWE Tag Team Champions?!” “Mike I gotta be honest I never saw it coming. I thought the Dudley’s were at the top of their game, but Cody and Ted pulled through man. That is a huge notch on Legacy’s Belt and they walk away with the Tag Title’s, absolutely massive for their careers man.” Tenay and Tazz go on to change track and talk about Dolph Ziggler’s reign as Intercontinental Champion. They remind us that Ziggler has held the Belt for the majority of time ever since KWF’s Survivor Series of 2010. He defeated Mr Anderson initially back then and then had a groundbreaking long term rivalry with John Morrison. Tazz: “Yeah Mike err, Ziggler and Morrison took it all the way at Turbulence man, but that match ended in a Double Count-out Draw because neither man could get up after Dolph had Zig-Zagged Morrison at the top of the ramp.” Tenay: “Of course Tazz you’re talking about when Morrison initially got laid off due to injury, but after that remember we saw Dolph handed the Intercontinental Title and it took a Tournament to determine a new number one contender.” Tazz: “Yup, that man turned out to be The Pope and Pope had his shot at the Bash, where Ziggler retained – but used underhanded methods to do it. Pope then talked himself into another shot where he slightly bent the rules to beat Dolph.” Tenay: “Now ladies and gentlemen we’re set for the proverbial rubber match, who’s going to walk away with Intercontinental Gold?”
‘The Pope’ D’Angelo Dinero vs. Dolph Ziggler – Intercontinental Title match
Ziggler mouths off at Pope as the two come face to face in the ring. Dinero’s not as happily spirited as usual because of Ziggler’s parking lot attack on him this past Friday before Impact SmackDown and here we go. Ziggler with the first punch, but Dinero fires one back and the two go heavy handed back and forth in what starts out as a fist fight. Dinero sends Ziggler against the ropes, but Dolph ducks under and slides out of the ring. The fans boo as Ziggler mouths off to the audience and then just as he turns his attentions back toward the ring he has The Pope fly out at him! Unconventional suicide dive by Dinero, we don’t see that kind of move from him that often, but he’s connected well with Ziggler here and now Pope has control. He dominates Dolph around ringside before rolling him back into the ring to break the ref’s Ten-count. Pope goes in after him, but Ziggler grabs at his neck and whiplashes him over the middle rope. This leads to a low dropkick from Dolph right on Pope’s thighs and Dinero then bashes his head off the ring apron before splatting down at ringside. Ziggler gets up to unwind the wrist-tape from his arms and he exits the ring to go to Dinero and choke him with the tape. The comms remind us of how Ziggler made it a point to finish his attack on Pope on Friday with his Sleeper hold and now with attacks to the neck and a choke to Pope, Ziggler may already be thinking that he can defeat Dinero with a Sleeper here tonight. The referee soon tells Ziggler off, demanding that he let the tape loose or else face Disqualification. Ziggler stomps at Pope at ringside before getting him back in the ring and covering for a Two. Dolph now grounds Pope, targeting the head and neck with various neck-locks and chin-locks to wear Pope down. The fans are on the edge of their seats as they hold their breaths every time Ziggler attempts a cover. One, Two – no, Pope kicks out. Ziggler wears him down again by targeting the head. He then picks Pope up for a swinging neckbreaker and covers for One – this could be it – Two and wow, almost Three. Pope kicks out but the counts are getting closer and closer. Tenay and Tazz discuss how dizzy Pope must be. “It’s just been two days since that unprovoked attack in the parking lot Tazz, how is Pope supposed to fend off Ziggler’s challenge here, I don’t think he’s even at a hundred percent.” “He’s probably not Mike, but err he certainly has the where-with-all to get back in this match, he just needs one big move to go his way and the tides could turn.” Right on cue, Pope reverses an attempted suplex by Dolph and he front-slams Ziggler to the canvas! Dolph is winded and tries to get up. Pope uses the ropes to haul himself to his feet and both men run at one another and *WHAM* car crash middle of the ring and Ziggler and Dinero are both down and out! Huge double clothesline and the fans are on their feet chanting ‘Pope!’ ‘Pope!’ ‘Pope!’ ‘Pope!’
We watch as Ziggler is first to get up. He picks himself up by the turnbuckles and then he’s stormed at by an oncoming Pope! Dinero tries for a surprise DDE, but no, Ziggler dives out the way and hooks Pope over for a pinning predicament. One! Two! – no, Ziggler’s got his feet on the ropes and the ref sees it. Dolph gets up to moan at the referee who says that Dolph has to play fair. So Pope stands up and Ziggler rakes him in the eyes. The ref tells Ziggler off again, telling him that this is his final warning. Ziggler sets to taunt Pope, telling him to get up, but this is a bad move as Dinero slams Ziggler to the canvas with an STO! Huge move and now Pope may be able to finally get some momentum. Pope covers on instinct, gets One, gets Two – Ziggler kicks out. Ziggler gets up and goes at Pope with a clothesline, but Pope ducks and then rains back-chops and front-chops over Ziggler’s chest before performing an atomic drop! Pope then drops to his knees before quickly leaping and smacking Ziggler “right on the mush!” as Tazz says and Tenay declares “He calls that 4-Up! As in four knuckles up side your head and Ziggler’s now on dream street!” The fans are on their feet as Pope thrives on their energy. Ziggler gets up and grabs the ref by his shirt. The ref fends him off and this leads to Pope slapping and jabbing Ziggler in his body and across his face. Dolph is dazed by the corner and Pope goes across the ring to pull down his knee pads properly this time. He taunts toward the fans, but Tazz says he’s taking too much time. Dinero runs across the ring for a DDE, but Ziggler dives out the way and simultaneously he rips the middle turnbuckle pad off its buckle and so Dinero goes knees first into the steel! The fans boo as Pope writhes in pain on the canvas. He went full speed into the corner and all he got was metal buckle. The fans boo as Ziggler kicks away at Pope’s knees now and he’s well in control for the moment. He goes to pick Pope up, but Dinero drop-toe-holds him into the middle rope. The fans cheer as Pope then gets up to hobble across the ring. He goes against the ropes and comes back to go over the back of Ziggler’s head, performing his Coronation! The crowd can’t believe it as Pope quickly gets back in the ring to hook both legs! One! Two! – no! “What?!” yelps Mike Tenay. “Wow man, that was huge! What a kick-out by Dolph Ziggler Mike, he wants the Belt man, he wants the Intercontinental Belt bad!” Dinero can’t believe it he gets up, as does Dolph and the two trade punches back and forth, finishing this match on the same terms that they started and both superstars are exhausted here. Ziggler tries taking control and “Mike, Mike, Sleeper! Sleeper!” yelps Tazz as Dolph Ziggler hooks on his Sleeper hold! The fans boo as Dinero seems to fade. Ziggler’s yelling at him “Sleeeeep!” “Sllleeeppp!” but Dinero quickly fights back, running on adrenaline he elbows Ziggler initially and then back rushes him toward the turnbuckles. The fans cheer as Pope then turns to bash Dolph’s head off the top turnbuckle pad five times, but Ziggler elbows him away. The arena then erupts as Pope runs full speed at Ziggler from behind and *BAM* DDE connects! Pope guides Ziggler’s limp body to the canvas and he hooks the leg for One! Two! Three!
Winner and Still Intercontinental Champion: ‘The Pope’ D’Angelo Dinero.
“Finally!” says Tazz as Mike Tenay and the fans excitedly scream in favor of The Pope. “What a match!” says Tenay as he and Tazz review replays. The fans cheer and chant Dinero’s name as he’s handed his Intercontinental Title. But wait, music hits… ♫*Byoooww* Now listen, this ain’t no make believe!♫ “Aaaah!” screams Tenay as a figure comes out to the stage and Tazz is in shock as he says “That’s, tha’ that’s John Morrison!” “He’s back!” The crowd go nuts as JoMo stands on the stage eyeing the ring. D’Angelo Dinero gets to his feet to see Morrison up the ramp and Morrison removes his custom sunglasses to look Dinero in the eye. Tenay finishes “What a match we’ve just seen, an almighty Intercontinental Title defense, but it seems The Pope’s next challenger has already made himself known. What a night, Pope wins and Morrison returns, what a SummerSlam!”
We are shown a video package telling the story of The Beautiful People’s dominance on TNA RAW after Angelina Love became Knockouts Champion a few months ago, retiring Trish Stratus in the process. She successfully defended against numerous opponents, until fellow loudmouth Maryse became the spanner in the works. The French Miss was the only other female member of the roster who was more underhanded, and with Panther in her corner, was able to overcome the added presence of Velvet Sky and win the Belt from Love. Angelina was determined to get her Title back and announced she was invoking her rematch clause. However, Hulk Hogan decided that rather than another one-on-one where both Knockouts would cheat anyway, Love’s rematch would be in Tag form, with the Knockout who gets the winning pinfall or submission winning the Title. Angelina will of course be with Velvet Sky and Maryse’s partner was to be chosen by Panther. The now former US Champion decided on Kaitlyn. Although Kaitlyn’s a rookie and easy to manipulate, she’s also undefeated in the KWF. Will she help Maryse retain her Belt, or will The Beautiful People be too much for the French Miss and the new girl?
Maryse & Kaitlyn vs. Angelina Love & Velvet Sky – Knockouts Championship on the line, woman who gets the pinfall or submission leaves KWF SummerSlam as Knockouts Champion
Maryse and Kaitlyn both enter separately, with Maryse looking in a foul mood. Cole and King speculate as to whether this is because of Panther losing his Title earlier on in the night, or because she has to team up with Kaitlyn. As the match begins, Maryse bosses Kaitlyn, demanding she start the match. Kaitlyn doesn’t seem to mind and she and Velvet tie-up, with the powerful Texan getting the better of Sky. She hits a suplex into a pin, getting a standard Two, and then throws her into the corner, before hitting an elbow and bulldog. Kaitlyn is enjoying a good amount of offense on Sky, and the crowd are right behind her. However, whenever Kaitlyn gets on top, Maryse demands a tag and thus comes in to attempt an unsuccessful pinfall. This lack of cohesiveness is costly, as Velvet soon turns the tables on Kaitlyn, nailing a DDT, before going across and tagging in Angelina. Love dominates Kaitlyn, who is getting no help from Maryse. The only times the Knockouts Champion even gets in the ring is to break submissions and pins.
Love disrespectfully grabs Kaitlyn by the hair and throws her across the ring. She is toying with her, hitting her with stomps, before lifting her up and performing a neckbreaker. She throws Kaitlyn into the corner, then runs at her, but Kaitlyn finds energy from somewhere and runs back, hitting her with a clothesline out of the corner. The fans cheer her on as she tries to make the tag to Maryse, however, the French Miss ignores her and refuses the tag, performing her trademark hand-flick taunt. Angelina grabs Kaitlyn by the foot and drags her back, but Kaitlyn fights back again and kicks her in the face. She gets to her feet and races across to Maryse, slapping her in the face. The fans ‘Oooh’ as Maryse looks dumbstruck, but it counts as a tag and the official tells Maryse to get in the ring. Velvet has also made the tag and she gets in to grab Maryse, attempting to work her down. The exchanges between Maryse and Velvet are fairly even, with the Champion possibly getting the better of things. However, attempting a suplex, Velvet lands on her feet, before hitting the Beauty Mark double knee backbreaker! She goes for the cover, but Kaitlyn comes in and breaks the pin. She pulls Maryse away from danger, and picks her up. As she’s checking on her partner’s condition, Maryse grabs her and nails her own partner with the French Kiss DDT! “Does that count as a tag?” yelps King, but Cole corrects him that Kaityln wasn’t even on the ring apron, but the referee has lost all control of this one as we hear both Angelina Love and Velvet Sky yell obscenities in the background. Maryse yells in French at Kaitlyn, Angelina races over and hits her with a Botox Injection. Maryse falls to the outside and Angelina follows. Velvet sees her chance and pins Kaitlyn, getting the One, Two, Three!
Winner and New Knockouts Champion: Velvet Sky.
Velvet can’t believe it. She’s won the Knockouts Title! As she is handed the Belt and The Beautiful People’s music plays, Angelina also looks to her with apparent surprise. She gets in the ring and the two just look at one another, before Angelina smiles and raises her partner’s hand. “Well it seems Angelina Love is fine with Velvet Sky winning the Title in her rematch, but it just goes to show that if you put a Tag Team together of two people who can’t get along, it simply won’t work.” “You got that right Michael, and no wonder Angelina is happy for Velvet. They said only last week that as long as one of them had the Belt, it didn’t matter which one. Hurray for The Beautiful People! Ahh, my eyeballs are so happy.”
Backstage we’re with Impact SmackDown interviewer ‘Mean’ Gene Okerlund and he’s standing by with WCW Champion Kevin Nash. Nash doesn’t seem to be in the greatest of moods and he snaps down the mic toward the camera saying that what Jeff Jarrett did to Melina and the means in which the Jarrett’s intend to get the WCW Title are well out of line. Nash gives an update on Melina’s condition and says that she’s going to be out for a while, but that she will be back in the KWF. He states that he’s about to retain the WCW Title again for the nWo Wolfpac and “Jeff Jarrett may be about to leave LA in a body bag.” Nash exits the scene to go make his entrance. The WCW Championship match is up next!
Kevin Nash vs. Jeff Jarrett w/ Karen Jarrett – WCW Title match
The comms review that back in WCW Nash and Jarrett crossed paths many times, but tonight the difference may well be Karen Jarrett. Karen was the one who accepted Nash and Melina’s challenge to that Mixed-tag match where Karen pinned Melina to earn her husband another shot at the WCW Gold tonight. The fans fully back the Grand Daddy Wolf of the Red and Black, and we watch as Nash and Jarrett lock it up. Nash quickly lifts a knee into Jarrett’s gut before sending him against the ropes. Jarrett clutches the rope and Nash then runs at him. Jarrett tries a back body drop to the outside, but Nash lands on his feet on the apron and the fans cheer as he open palm slaps the chest of Jeff Jarrett right over Jarrett’s shoulder. Jeff yells out in pain as he stumbles back toward the centre of the ring. Nash looks to step over the top rope and back into the ring, but just as one leg goes over, Karen grabs at the other foot and prevents Nash from getting in. Nash looks to peel Karen off him, but Jeff Jarrett then runs over to take the opportunity and dropkick Nash right on his knees. The fans boo as Jeff then stomps at Nash’s leg before entangling his knee into and over the middle rope. Karen Jarrett trash talks as Jeff works away at Nash’s knee. The referee finally manages to get some order and Jeff gets Nash away from the ropes to cover for a Two. The fans boo as Jeff Jarrett continues in control for quite some time. He eventually goes for his Figure Four, but Nash his able to use his stronger leg to boot Double J all the way through the ropes to ringside. The fans cheer and chant Nash on and he rolls out of the ring, flexing his knees trying to will it to wake up. He stalks ringside to go toward Jeff Jarrett, but Karen’s in his way. Jeff uses her as a momentary shield before running at Nash by surprise, but Nash instinctively puts up a boot to clobber Jeff down. Nash though goes down too, perhaps putting too much weight on the stronger leg. Karen checks on her husband before talking smack to Kevin Nash. Nash is first up out of the two superstars and he sets to get Jeff up, but Jarrett again targets the bad knee and Nash finds it difficult to cope. Jeff gets up to punch down at Nash and he trash talks as well, yelling at Nash that he’s not going to leave SummerSlam with the WCW Belt.
Nash finally has enough and yanks Jarrett by the trunks so that Jeff goes shoulder-first into the steel steps. The fans cheer as Nash gets himself back in the ring and the referee administers a Ten-count. Karen demands that the ref stop the count because Jeff Jarrett is hurt. Nash isn’t in great shape either, finding it difficult to even stand in the ring. The ref and Karen talk and so he checks on Jeff who tells him that his shoulder is hurt. The crowd boo as Karen then further talks to and distracts the referee. This allows Jeff Jarrett to reach under the apron and pull out his infamous guitar! The crowd try to warn Kevin Nash, but he doesn’t see it coming and *WHAM* massive guitar shot right over Nash’s head! Jeff clears the ring of the debris as Karen then points the ref toward the ring! He gets in as Jarrett makes the cover for One, Two, Three!
Winner and New WCW Champion: Jeff Jarrett.
The fans boo like hell as Mike Tenay can’t believe it. “The play by Karen, the fake injury by Jeff, like all that wasn’t enough, the Jarrett’s had to have a guitar too to beat Kevin Nash?! This is an outrage!” Tazz: “Yeah Mike, I think diabolical is the word you’re lookin’ for, but not for nothing but er, Jeff and Karen did what they came to do here. They learned from Jeff’s past matches with Nash and okay, yeah, they used every trick in the book, but that doesn’t change the result.” Tenay says that The Jarrett’s have won this one, but they certainly don’t deserve it. And Kevin Nash has gone down to a guitar shot, just like Melina did. Goodness, we have new WCW Champion! Jeff and Karen exit celebrating. Kevin Nash is left barely moving in the middle of the ring.
We see a video package from last year’s KWF SummerSlam, showing the exciting and brutal Ultimate-X match in which Low-ki won the X-Division Title. The package then pans to Justin Gabriel’s Title reign, which has spanned several months. Like his fellow World Elite member Panther, Gabriel has held onto his Belt through many matches using various underhanded methods, including numerous interruptions by Sheamus and Vladimir Kozlov. Hulk Hogan said he was sick and tired of it, so he decided to give the fans another Ultimate-X match at this year’s SummerSlam, where Gabriel will have to beat seven other superstars to keep hold of his Title. Various qualifiers have taken place in the past few weeks, including one on Impact SmackDown after Hogan and Ric Flair negotiated for one place in this match for the Blue show. Alex Shelley won a Triple Threat against Low-ki and Styler to book his place and he has a chance to take the X-Division Belt to Friday nights. “The X-Division Belt literally hangs in the balance right here tonight, it’s Ultimate-X!”
Justin Gabriel vs. Amazing Red vs. Christopher Daniels vs. Sin Cara vs. Suicide vs. Yoshi Tatsu vs. Daniel Bryan vs. Alex Shelley – Ultimate-X Match for the X-Division Title
The match begins and all hell breaks loose, with Daniel Bryan going after Gabriel, Red and Daniels typing up, Sin Cara and Suicide exchanging blows in a masked battle, and Tatsu and Shelley going toe-to-toe. Bryan throws Gabriel against the ropes, and hits a high knee to the jaw. Daniels throws Red into the corner and hits a running elbow. Sin Cara tries a hurracanrana on Suicide, which gets turned into a powerbomb, and Alex Shelley hits a devastating spin kick on Tatsu, sending him to the outside. Daniels sends Red to the ropes, but instead of bouncing off them, Red dives through them and lands on Tatsu. Alex Shelley leaps over the top rope and onto the apron, before putting his feet on the middle ropes and keeping his legs wide, allowing Suicide to run up and dive through them onto Red and Tatsu. Shelley then springs off the top rope and moonsaults onto all three below. The fans are going crazy as the carnage continues, with Daniel Bryan running and diving through the ropes onto the dog pile. Christopher Daniels seizes his chance with the ring mostly empty and attempts to climb the turnbuckle towards the wires above the ring, but Sin Cara sees this and climbs up too, before hitting a hurracanrana, sending Daniels flying on top of the pile and Cara crashing next to them. This leaves Justin Gabriel on his own in the ring. He starts to climb and makes it to the wires. He goes hand over hand across them and gets close to the Belt. As he gets towards it and just brushes it with his fingers, Amazing Red has climbed up and springs off the top rope to connect with a missile dropkick, sending Gabriel crashing. The fans are loving this match as the mayhem continues. ‘KWF!’ ‘KWF!’ ‘KWF!’
Alex Shelley and Suicide seem to be working well together, with Shelley almost allowing the masked man to be his replacement for the injured Chris Sabin. “If I didn’t know Sabin was injured for another six months I’d swear that was him under that mask Michael.” They double team Christopher Daniels, who is coming off an epic main event with Triple H last Monday. Suicide holds Daniels in place, as Shelley comes off the top rope and hits a stomp to his back. Meanwhile, Amazing Red and reigning Champion Justin Gabriel are going back and forth, with Gabriel showing fight to get the better of his foe. Their brawl takes them to the top rope. They are joined by Sin Cara, who tries to hit Gabriel with a German suplex from the top. Red uses his heel to climb the structure behind him, before jumping over the other two and grabbing Sin Cara for a sunset flip into a powerbomb. As he does, Sin Cara flies off and is able to turn around to nail Daniels with a cross body, while Gabriel crashes down! ‘Holy sh*t!’ ‘Holy sh*t!’ ‘Holy sh*t!’ Meanwhile, Yoshi Tatsu is hitting Daniel Bryan with kicks, but D-Bryan fights back and hits Tatsu with hard chest-kick of his own. Tatsu throws Bryan against the ropes and nails a spinning DDT, before he gets leveled by Suicide. Shelley then grabs Suicide and throws him to the outside, ending any partnership they had. Shelley goes for the Belt, and climbs across the wire. “Uh oh, we’re about to lose the X-Division to Impact SmackDown!” King screams. Shelley is almost there, but realizes he’s been joined by Suicide. The two try to kick each other off, but it’s Suicide who takes the big risk, and grabs Shelley’s head to bring him down with a neckbreaker from the wires! “Good God!” Cole yells. The match goes on, with the fans chanting ‘This is awesome!’ *clap* *clap* *clap-clap-clap*. ‘This is awesome!’ *clap* *clap* *clap-clap-clap*. Daniel Bryan gets a LeBell Lock on Christopher Daniels, Red hits the Red Star Press on Tatsu, Shelley hits Sliced Bread 2 on Suicide, and Sin Cara drive La Mistica on Gabriel. However, come the climax of the match, it’s Bryan, Shelley, Daniels and Gabriel all climbing the structure. They each climb across the metal bars above the ring, and meet in the middle, hitting punches on one another. They each teeter on the beams, looking like falling twenty feet to the mat, but just hanging on. Gabriel and Daniels have the idea to drop through the metal onto the wires, and they fight with each other by the Belt. Bryan and Shelley try to kick them off, and Daniels falls. Gabriel is about the retain the Gold, but from nowhere, Sin Cara leaps off the top rope and grabs the legs of Gabriel, pulling him down into an elaborate electric chair! This leaves just Shelley and Bryan, who are still duking it out on the metal. Bryan gets hit so hard he falls, but somehow manages to grab the wire on the way down and hold on. Shelley lowers himself onto the wires himself, with his feet balancing on top of the wires, and Bryan hanging off them. From underneath it all we watch as Amazing Red dominates Yoshi Tatsu to ringside and he quickly goes to climb the turnbuckle and make his way along the wires. Alex Shelley goes to unhook the Belt, but Bryan pulls his body up and hits an almighty kick to the temple of Shelley, who falls all the way to the mat. Bryan composes himself and slowly makes his way toward grabbing the Belt, but Amazing Red is there and just as Bryan goes down to pick it up, Red yoiks it from under him and drops to the canvas and the crowd goes berserk!
Winner and New X-Division Champion: The Amazing Red.
“Woohoo! The X-Division stays on TNA RAW!” King shouts. Amazing Red is exhausted, it took him all his speed to get up and across those wires so fast at the end that he out-sped both Alex Shelley and Daniel Bryan. “Finally Justin Gabriel loses the X-Division Title, and it really has been a bad night for the World Elite King. And isn’t it ironic that the last person that the World Elite screwed is the first man that takes the Title off Gabriel in this match? That’s karma for ya.” Cole and King run through the highlights as the fans cheer Red all the way up the ramp.
We’re shown a video package that underlines the timely history and rivalry between Rick and Scott Steiner against Booker T. and Stevie Ray of the Harlem Heat. We see clips of how The Steiner Brothers dominated the Tag Team Division in the early nineties, only to be met by the challenge of two brothers from Harlem half-way through that decade. The Heat and The Steiner’s went back and forth over many years, both making a case for them being the best Tag Team in the world. Over time a single’s rivalry grew between two men who went on to become main eventers; Scott Steiner and Booker T. The tension between the two has always been there and in the KWF we’ve seen Scott Steiner defeat Booker T. on Impact SmackDown earlier this year. Now Harlem Heat are back together and over the past few months they have dominated the Tag Team Division and they proudly hold the TNA World Tag Team Titles. But Rick and Scott, they’re back and they want to prove once and for all that they are not only better that Harlem Heat, but the Steiner’s want to be known as the greatest tag team of all time. What a match it should be, Harlem Heat vs. The Steiner Brothers, Live next at KWF SummerSlam!
Harlem Heat vs. Steiner Brothers – TNA World Tag Team Titles
The comms declare what a big fight feel this match has and the fans are on their feet, mainly chanting for The Heat, but a pocket of them chant for the Steiner’s and here we go. The bell rings and we have Booker T. circling his long-term rival Scott Steiner. The two lock up and Scott goes for a headlock. Booker forces him against the ropes and when Scott comes back Booker nails him with a standing calf kick! Huge move and the crowd cheer as Booker raises the roof with his taunt. Scott Steiner almost immediately gets up and shuns Booker’s early advantage by performing a standing Steiner clothesline and Booker then hits his back to the mat. ‘Ooooh’ gasp the fans on impact as Scott tags in Rick and the two of them pick Booker up. They double-suplex him to the canvas and the fans boo as Rick Steiner gets One, gets Two, but only Two on the count. The comms tell of how Harlem Heat’s natural showmanship may be their own downfall in a match of this magnitude where the Steiner’s are here purely to get the job done. Tazz; “Hell, the whole world is watching here tonight Mike, but to Rick and Scott they wouldn’t care if it was just me and you sitting on the edge of our seats.” Tenay: “Oh I hear ya Tazz, but in my eyes as this match goes on we’re going to see what the fans mean to Pro Wrestling. I mean we see it often enough, like in the Dinero match earlier, the fans play a massive part as the proverbial sixth man in a situation where a superstar may be fading or about to lose the match. Harlem Heat certainly have the backing of the audience here in Los Angeles and I can’t wait to see how this contest pans out.” We watch as Rick and Scott tag back and forth for the early going and Scott’s now legal, but Booker T. manages to break free and get over to tag in Stevie Ray. Stevie and Scott Steiner tie it up and Stevie gets the upperhand with a headlock takedown to the canvas. This leads to a cover and a Two-count as Steiner kicks out and moves Ray over and under so that he can scissor his opponent’s body. Scott Steiner squeezes high legs together as Tazz says that “Stevie Ray is a big man, but Scotty Steiner is equally as big and those body scissors had exhasperate the wind right outta ya.”
The match goes on as Stevie Ray fights back and eventually elbows Scott Steiner away. He tags in his brother Booker T. and Booker comes in to up the pace of the match. He back-elbows Scott Steiner to the canvas before picking him up for a suplex. Steiner though counters and he takes Booker over for a t-bone suplex of his own. Rick Steiner tags in and immediately covers Booker, but only gets Two on the count. Rick stand slightly bent over by Booker’s head and he barks “Hoof! Hoof!” as he does and the fans love it as Tenay says that the Steiner’s are showing that they too have some showmanship. Rick barks at Booker, but Booker T. then clutches him into a small package for One, Two – wow, only Two. Rick tags in Scott who comes in slowly and allows Booker to get across and tag Stevie. Stevie Ray slowly comes in and he looks across the ring at Scott Steiner and for the first time since getting back together, Harlem Heat have come across equals here in the KWF. Scott Steiner talks at Stevie Ray, yelling at him “Come on! Come on, show us you’re the best, come on!” Stevie goes at Scott, but he’s tripped and Scott Steiner mounts his back to clobber Ray down over his shoulder’s before attempting a Steiner Recliner. Stevie Ray scouts it though and he maneuvers Scott under for a pinning predicament. Gets One, Two, just Two. Both men get at the same time and *BAM* SteinerLine! “Huge clothesline from Scott Steiner and they call it a SteinerLine because Scott Steiner’s the only one that can make a running clothesline hurt that much.” “Indeed Tazz that was a huge move and a possible momentum shifter.” Scott Steiner next drops a standing elbow on Stevie Ray before going for a cover; he gets One! Two! – but then peels himself off to do a few push-ups. Classic Scott Steiner and we watch as he goes to pick Stevie up, but Ray quickly maneuvers to turn and hip-toss Scott Steiner to the canvas. Steiner rolls up to his knees and we hear him yell “You wanna hip-toss me?! Huh?! I’ve got the largest arms in the world and you hip-toss me?!” Stevie Ray shouts back “Get yo ass up and fight sucka, this ain’t no body building contest Steiner, you’re against the Tag Team Champions of the World!” The fans love it, they’re going nuts as Stevie tags Booker and Scott tags in Rick who comes in to bark once more at Booker T. Booker goes for a clothesline, but Rick leg-trips him to flip him over for a One-count. Rick then sets for a side headlock, but Booker stands up out of it to backdrop Rick to the canvas. Big move as Rick Steiner holds his head after the impact. Booker T. crawls over for One, Two – but Scott Steiner comes in to break the count. Scott yells at the referee while getting forced back into his own corner as Booker T. gives his old foe the eyes. Booker tags in his brother Stevie Ray. The Dog-faced Gremlin takes some punishment now as Harlem Heat send him against the ropes and double-flapjack him down to the canvas. Stevie Ray covers for yet another Two and the match goes on.
“Such an intriguing edge-of-your-seat contest is so rare in the world of Tag Team wrestling nowadays Tazz, you gotta believe that there has to be a new generation coming through on WWE and TNA House Shows?” “Well Mike, you’d think so considering the talent that’s out there, but we’ve seen what the Pro Wrestling industry has done with tag teams in recent years.” (Both) “Nothing.” Tazz: “Nothing, exactly and I know TNA had their Best of Seven Guns vs. Beer Money stretch, but other than those teams who else have they got? I mean they split up Bubba and Devon, Mexican America are nowhere near as great as LAX were and the British Invasion never really get a big push to do anything at tag level.” Tenay: “Well Tazz at least you mention some teams in TNA. Who have WWE got? I completely agree with you that the worldwide tag team scene needs an overhaul, but once upon a time there were diamond tag teams like the Legion Of Doom, The Rockers, The Blackjacks, The Wild Samoans, Tony Atlas and Rocky Johnson, The Hart Foundation, The Midnight Express, The Hardy’s for crying out loud, Edge and Christian – the list goes on and on.” Tazz: “But Mike, WWE have had so many opportunities lately to make that division big. They had The Hart Dynasty, Legacy, and they could have built more but they stopped before they even got started. I feel sorry for The Uso’s man, they’re the only one’s in there as a legit tag team right now and they don’t even hold the Belts.” Tenay finishes: “I’m not sure they want to Tazz, what do the Tag Team Title’s mean if there isn’t any competition?!” The match at hand has gone on with the Steiner’s and the Heat showing us what it means to be two of the best tag teams of all time. Tenay and Tazz use this moment to thank the KWF for having such matches and they state that so far the KWF has further established tag teams such as The Hart Dynasty, Legacy, LAX and The Uso’s – but we’ve brought up more in Sheamus and Kozlov, The Bucks, AJ Styles and Shelton Benjamin and of course Gambit and Joker Hardy. “We believe that every Division in Pro Wrestling matters and we always look to elevate everybody’s performance and always put on a great show of past, present and future superstars here on KWF Blogs.” “Ya damn skippy Mike, whether it’s Women, Tag Teams, Hardcore or X-Division, KWF brings you the best matches and the best stories but err, let’s get back to the action here huh Mike?”
The contest has gone back and forth numerous times with the Steiner Brother’s now on top. Rick Steiner performs an impressive scoop powerslam on Stevie Ray. He covers for One, Two – no, this time Booker T. comes in to break the count. Scott Steiner comes in from the opposite corner and he axes Booker down. Scott and Rick then try the double team on Stevie Ray. They send him against the ropes, but Stevie comes back to running clothesline the two of them down. Booker T. goes top rope and we watch as Stevie Ray befalls Scott Steiner to ringside. Booker comes flying off the top “Missile Dropkick!” yells Mike Tenay right in the face of Rick Steiner! Stevie Ray’s the legal man, he covers Rick for One! Two! – no, Scott Steiner pulls Stevie out of the ring! The fans are going wild as chaos ensues. Scott Steiner and Stevie Ray go back and forth at ringside, but the ref demands that Stevie get back in the ring because he’s the legal man. Booker T. takes over on Scott at ringside, but Steiner rushes him back first into the ring apron. Rick and Stevie are on their last wind in the ring, punching one another back and forth, but Scott Steiner then yells for a tag and Rick makes it. Scott comes in to double-underhook Stevie Ray and take him up and over with a nice modified suplex. Scott then covers for One, Two – no, Stevie Ray kicks out and now Scott Steiner’s getting frustrated. Booker T.’s back in his corner and he’s pounding the turnbuckle as the fans are on their feet and the proverbial sixth man comes into play. The audience cheer and chant as Booker raises the roof, but Stevie Ray is about to be put in a Steiner Recliner! Rick Steiner comes in to halt an oncoming Booker T, but Booker backs off and so the ref forces Rick away. The ref’s back’s turned so Booker picks his spot and runs in and *WHAM* huge side kick to the mush of Scotty Steiner! Booker heads back to his corner and Stevie Ray finally is able to get over and a tag is made! Booker T. comes in to go at Scott, but Rick Steiner comes in and he and Booker go at it. Fist for fist, punch for punch and finally Booker is able to spinning side kick Rick right out of the ring. As Booker turns around he sees that Stevie has Scott Steiner in position, right in the electric chair atop his shoulders and the fans go crazy as Booker T. runs to leap toward Scott and performs the Harlem Side Kick that sends him crashing off Stevie’s shoulders and to the mat – “The Big Apple!” (what that double team move is called) yells Mike Tenay and Booker T. then covers Scott Steiner as Stevie prevents Rick getting back in and Harlem Heat get the ‘One!’ ‘Two!’ ‘Three!’
Winners and Still TNA World Tag Team Champions: Harlem Heat.
The fans are going wild here in Staples Center as Booker T. and Stevie Ray have retained the TNA World Tag Team Championships! Rick and Scott can’t believe it as we watch Harlem Heat celebrate and Booker performs a Spin-a-roony to light up the arena once more. What a match yet again here at KWF SummerSlam!
We are backstage in the locker room of the World Elite. Wade Barrett is not happy, in fact he’s throwing things all over the locker room, and even smashes the big screen TV. “What the Hell was that?!” Panther, Maryse and Gabriel are stood in a row, all without their Title Belts. “I could almost understand if you got beaten by better athletes, but Shelton Benjamin? Velvet Sky? And that firefly Amazing bloody Red?! This is completely unacceptable, and not what the World Elite is supposed to be about!” Sheamus, Kozlov, Rob Terry and Khali are in the background, as Barrett continues to blast the rest of the group for all losing tonight. “Useless bastards.” He says as he storms out of the room. Panther looks at the rest of the group and says “Is it just me or is something bothering him?” Maryse flicks up her hand in disgust. Sheamus and Kozlov too try and make a joke of it all, but Rob Terry continues the barking. He tells them all that they need to look themselves in the mirror and make sure that they know what it means to be World Elite.
At ringside we’re back with Mike Tenay and Tazz who explain that we’ve got Impact SmackDown’s SummerSlam main event coming up. They regain their breaths after such an amazing Tag Title match and tell the Tale Of The Tape between TNA World Champion Randy Orton and number one contender Chris Jericho. We’re reminded that at Sovereignty 3 Orton won the Elimination Chamber match, but many wonder whether it was by simple default because of the fact that The Joker was the Chamber’s referee and The Viper was pretty much the last man standing. Tazz says that in his opinion, Orton was right place right time, but Tenay says that since Sovereignty Randy Orton has been open to any challenger and he defeated Why So Serious’ Gambit just last week on Impact SmackDown. “Well the ‘any challenger’ thing is debatable Mike, I mean Kane was due a rematch was he not?” The argument continues debating legitimacy as Champion and the comms then remind us of how 2011 was supposed to be the Year Of Jericho. Y2J had spent much of the early months of this year as WCW Champion, but Kevin Nash took the Championship off him and Jericho was unable to get it back. He then took a break doing a Fozzy Tour, but now he’s back looking to win the World Title. Mike Tenay states that Jericho’s return is timely as he may not have been as easily challenging toward Kane, Shawn Michaels or Sting had any of them currently been Champion. The comms argue that Tazz is questioning Randy Orton’s legitimacy as Champion and Tenay is questioning Jericho’s guts as the challenger. No matter what, one of them will leave KWF SummerSlam with the TNA World Heavyweight Title, but who will it be?
Randy Orton vs. Chris Jericho – TNA World Heavyweight Title
Jericho starts on top, immediately looking to corner The Viper and he does so but for just a moment as Orton fights back with hard right hands and he tackles Jericho to the canvas before raining down punches on him. The fans cheer as Randy Orton is the clear favorite here and the ref pulls Orton off Jericho to give Y2J a moment to get up. Orton tries to go at Jericho again, but Jericho trips him and looks to hook on an early attempt at The Walls, but Orton spins his legs and this sends Jericho hurtling through the ropes to land at ringside. The fans are on their feet as this match has begun like a house on fire. Orton exits the ring to stalk Jericho around ringside. Jericho backs up to perch himself on the apron and he grabs the bottom rope as he yells toward the ref “Back him up, I’m in the ropes! I’m in the ropes!” But Orton doesn’t back up and he goes to rain right hands on Jericho again. The audience egg him on as Orton then backs up to run and boot toward Jericho’s head, but Y2J dives off the ring apron and Orton follows through! This is bad news for Orton who looks in pain as his leg is jolted under the bottom turnbuckle. Jericho rolls in and out of the ring to restart any count and he then opportunistically goes to perform as submission move on the Champion around the ring-post. Jericho looks in great shape and in perfect mood to put on a clinic here tonight and hereafter he does well to further take it to Orton’s legs in the ring. Jericho again tries for a Walls and this time Orton cannot spin out of it. Jericho turns him over, but Orton slithers quickly toward the ropes before Jericho can sit the move down. The fans boo as Y2J doesn’t let go of the move, fully using the ref’s count before finally releasing the hold. Orton squirms toward the ropes and pulls himself up on the ring apron. Chris Jericho joins him there, punching him at first and then springboarding off the angled ropes and then dropkicking The Viper down to ringside.
The audience boo further as it seems that Jericho’s sustained hold on this match may well lead to a new World Champion crowned here tonight. Jericho exits the ring to taunt toward the audience before picking Orton up. Just as The Viper gets to his feet though there’s a change in his mood as he suddenly wakes up! Orton rains hard shots to Jericho before ramming his head off the announcers table and then Irish-whipping him shoulder-first into the ring-post. The audience chant ‘R-K-O!’ ‘R-K-O!’ as the KWF’s Apex Predator begins to hear those voices in his head. He sets Jericho by the ring apron and then gets in the ring to pull Jericho through the ropes and *BAM* huge Orton DDT with Jericho’s legs hanging from off the middle rope and here we go, Randy Orton’s excellerating in his zone. He gets Jericho up and sends him against the ropes to grab him when he comes back for a quick scoop powerslam. Orton waits for Jericho to get up, pounding the canvas for a possible RKO and the crowd love it. Jericho gets up and Orton leaps for his finisher – but no! (Tazz) “Wha-wha-wha-wha-whoop” Jericho catches him for a CodeBreaker instead! “Aaaaah!” yelps Mike Tenay as both Jericho and Orton are down now. The Viper looks stunned, we see his eyes roll over and he certainly didn’t expect that CodeBreaker to come. The referee administers his Ten-count and we watch as Jericho’s the first one up, but the ref keeps counting. He’s on Eight and Jericho tells him to stop the count, saying he can’t win the Belt that way and so Jericho dives for a cover. He hooks the leg, the ref checks that Orton’s shoulder’s are flat and down before he counts One! Two! – ohhh and Orton kicks out! Randy Orton kicks out! Mike Tenay rolls through replays of the CodeBreaker to the kick-out and Tazz says that it was an eternity between the finisher and the pin attempt and that didn’t favor Y2J. Jericho fumes as he gets to his feet and he then kick-rolls Orton more central in the middle of the ring. He runs against the ropes, springboarding backward off the middle rope “But Mike, look look!” Orton’s moving and he jumps right under where Jericho flips and *WHAM* RKO! “Aaaahhhh!” the fans go crazy along with the comms as Orton turns Jericho over for One! Two! Three!
Winner and Still TNA Heavyweight Champion of the World: Randy Orton.
“Oh my God!” yelps Tazz as Mike Tenay and the fans scream out. Tenay exclaims what a move that was, “the timing was impeccable, the execution was expertise! And Tazz, the rightful reigning TNA Heavyweight Champion of the World is Randy Orton!” “Ahh Mike, I can’t argue now man, that was an absolutely amazing move. We’ve seen Orton do that kinda RKO before, but on the World Championship stage where he’s defending the Gold against a seasoned veteran like Jericho, man, big props, I’ve eaten my words man, big props to our Champ.” The fans light up the arena once more as Randy Orton raises his Championship Belt and he receives a well earned round of applause.
“So Randy Orton retains, and what a match it was. But now let us move on to the final match of the evening, it is for the WWE Championship, and lets remind ourselves how this one came about.” We are shown a video package of The Dark Side and Triple H’s rivalry, starting with The Absolute Lashley challenging for the Title at The Great American Bash. An epic encounter ended in a time-limit draw, despite Hunter putting him through a table and hitting a Pedigree. At Sovereignty, Triple H took on his old adversary, The UnderTaker, and this time it was too much for The Game, with Taker nailing him with a Tombstone to claim the WWE Title. Hunter was due a rematch, and so informed Hogan of his intention to have it at SummerSlam. The TNA RAW Interim GM though had other ideas. While Hunter would get his rematch, he would not be alone with The Deadman. A few weeks ago, Triple H had tagged against The Dark Side with Mr. Money in the Bank, The Phenomenal AJ Styles, but had claimed AJ was not main event worthy. In an attempt to prove himself, Styles got too ambitious and was Tombstoned by The Phenom. The following week, AJ faced Triple H in the main event, and surprisingly, beat him. Other wins over Kurt Angle and Christian saw Hogan add Styles to the WWE Title match for SummerSlam, much to Triple H’s disgust. Styles proved himself once more with a win over Stone Cold Steve Austin, who later admitted AJ was one of the best he’d ever faced, and is worthy of his place at the top table. But will Styles simply be in the way of the Hunter/Taker rivalry, as was suggested by The Game? “We’re about to find out.” The arena goes dark and fills with smoke before… *BONG!*
The UnderTaker vs. Triple H vs. AJ Styles – WWE Championship
As Styles entrance finishes and we have all three men in the ring, Lilian is left to announce the trio. Michael Cole reminds us that The Absolute Lashley has been banned from ringside by Hogan, and if he does interfere at any point, Taker will be immediately stripped of his WWE Title. The bell rings and straight away, AJ runs at Taker, but gets caught around the throat and Chokeslammed! Styles rolls to the outside, as Triple H lets out a slight laugh, before looking stern again and going nose-to-nose with The Deadman. They trade blows as the fans volume goes up. Hunter gets the better of things and backs Taker into the corner, but Taker grabs him and throws him into the corner, firing shots to the head and torso. However, The Game then grabs Taker and throws him back into the corner, hitting punches and kicks, followed by stomps. The Phenom is down and Hunter roars to the crowd, before hitting the crotch chop towards Taker and hitting a running knee to the head. He pulls Taker into the middle of the ring and goes for the pin, getting two. He picks him up and hits another punch, before firing him against the ropes. Taker ducks the clothesline attempt, comes off the ropes again and hits a flying clothesline of his own. He gets to his feet, and gets nailed by a flying forearm, courtesy of AJ Styles who flew off the top rope. “AJ wants to make sure these two know he’s in this match.” Cole says. Styles goes for a pin but barely gets two. Cole remarks that this is Styles’ first ever WWE Title match, although he has won numerous Tag Titles in the KWF, as well as holding the TNA World Title more than once in TNA back in the day. Styles also won MITB at this years WrestleMania, but he has gained this Title shot on merit, so is still due another Title shot somewhere down the line before next years showpiece. Styles now tries to work over Hunter, hitting punches and chops, before throwing him against the ropes and hitting a standing dropkick. AJ is all fired up, as are the crowd, and he goes to the outside to attempt a 450-Springboard Splash. But before he can jump up, Taker comes across and boots him in the head, sending him crashing to the outside once more. Hunter takes advantage and rolls Taker up, getting Two.
The match continues with all three men getting their fair share of attack in. Hunter has been sent to the outside by a big clothesline over the top rope by Taker, and now The Phenom and The Phenomenal One are battling it out. AJ is giving as good as he gets, but Taker’s power striking seems to be too much. He forces AJ down and runs through his moveset, hitting Old School in the process. He then lifts AJ up for a Last Ride, but Styles struggles and is able to get free. Taker turns around and *BAM!* Pele from Styles! AJ goes for the pin, but Taker kicks out the last split second. AJ now signals for the end, and goes for the Styles Clash. Remarkably, he is able to get Taker up, but The Deadman eventually becomes too heavy and drops, and is able to reverse the move up his way, hitting an Alabama Slam on Styles. He makes the pin, but AJ breaks free. Both men are up and trading blows. Taker decides to come off the ropes for one big punch, but Triple H lowers the top rope and Taker falls to the outside. They start to brawl once more, but are soon interrupted by a corkscrew dive from AJ over the top rope. The fans go wild as Styles rolls back in. “Unbelievable match Michael, possibly match of the year from a TNA RAW perspective!” King says. The match continues, and AJ has been flattened by a DDT from Triple H, but as he gets up, Taker grabs him and puts on Hell’s Gate! Hunter is in trouble, and is about to tap. He tries to hold on and screams in pain as The Deadman synches it on harder. The referee is awaiting the submission, but Hunter refuses to give in. He raises his hand, in position to tap out, but before he does, Styles flies across and boots Taker in the head with a dropkick. The hold is released, and Triple H is saved, but not for long as AJ goes for a leg lock on him. The Game kicks at him and stops him from putting the hold on. They both get up and AJ runs at Hunter, before getting taken down by a Double-A Spinebuster! Triple H roars to the crowd, but as he turns round he goes straight into Taker, who lifts him into position, and down for a devastating Tombstone Piledriver! One… Two… Three.
Winner and Still WWE Champion: The UnderTaker.
*BONG!* “UnderTaker retains” Cole surmises. The Phenom has successfully defended his Gold, but looks as beatdown as he ever has been. He can’t even get to his feet as this match has clearly taken a lot out of him. He is handed the Title, as Hunter is flat on his back and AJ on the outside holding his head. Taker poses with his tongue out, as lightening strikes the arena, but all of a sudden the lights go normal again and The Deadman’s music halts. Lillian Garcia (the ring announcer) starts talking. “Ladies and gentlemen, if I may have your attention please. AJ Styles has just cashed in his Money In The Bank briefcase, and will therefore have an immediate shot at the WWE Championship!” “What?!” yelps Cole, “What?!” gasp all of King and even Mike Tenay and Tazz. The crowd go nuts, as The UnderTaker looks on shocked. AJ nips back into the ring and the official gets back in too. Triple H has rolled out of the ring by this point, still in a daze, and the bell rings.
The UnderTaker vs. AJ Styles – WWE Championship
Styles still seems to have some energy left, and goes straight for Taker. This time he doesn’t get caught by the throat and fires punches and kicks at The Deadman. He gets blocked though and Taker hits a couple of rights back, before scooping AJ up in Tombstone position. Styles knees him in the head and drops though, and we watch as The Absolute Lashley is slowly walking down the ramp. The comms tell that Lashley was banished from ringside during the Triple Threat, not the Money In The Bank! AJ hits Taker with a chop and he knows Lashley’s coming. He tries to throw Taker into the corner, but it is reversed and The Phenom throws AJ into the corner instead, but Styles leaps up and springs off the top rope to moonsault backwards and hit an absolutely astonishing Super Pele on The UnderTaker! “My God, what a move and what a kick to the head. Taker’s out!” Cole says, as Styles looks to the fans. He sees The Absolute Lashley who is stood half-way down the ramp. Triple H is up and he’s got one eye on Lashley and the other eye on the match. AJ exits to the apron, leaps up onto the middle of the top rope and flies off *BAM!* he nails the Spiral Tap and hooks the leg… One… Two… THREE!!!!!!
Winner and the New WWE Champion: The Phenomenal AJ Styles!
“He did it! He did it! AJ Styles did it! Not only has he won the WWE Title, he beat The UnderTaker to do it!” Cole screams. “Forgive the pun Michael, but what a phenomenal ending to this night. Taker retained his Belt after a grueling Triple Threat, and then AJ Styles goes and cashes in Money In The Bank and beats The Deadman. I can barely catch my breath!” Styles looks elated and overcome with joy *BONG* the lights go out and as they come back on The Absolute Lashley is in the ring carrying The UnderTaker’s downed body. Lashley, former friend of AJ just stares a hole through the newly crowned Champion before *BONG* the lights go off and when they’re back on The Dark Side is gone. Nowehere to be seen are either The UnderTaker or The Absolute Lashley. AJ Styles finally gets the round of applause that he deserves as he holds his WWE Title aloft. Triple H is just close to the stage now, not believing what he’s been through and who’s come out on top. The fans are going bananas, and then the volume raises further as just past Triple H we see Shelton Benjamin walk out. Benjamin walks down to the ring to join AJ Styles! The new United States Champion and the new WWE Champion are standing opposite one another, before hugging in front of an ecstatic Staples Center. “Two men who enjoyed so much success as Tag Team partners here in the KWF, went their separate ways to seek individual honors, and now that decision looks vindicated. AJ Styles and Shelton Benjamin are both Champions, and you can see what it means to them.” The scenes akin to the end of WrestleMania XX, have some of the more emotional fans in tears, as Shelton raises AJ’s arm to the sky. “That’s all we’ve got from KWF SummerSlam folks. We hope you’ve enjoyed it, I know we have. Be sure to tune in to KWF Blogs for all the aftermath and fallout on TNA RAW tomorrow night. AJ Styles is the new WWE Champion! Goodnight everybody!” The pay-per-view fades out on the image of Styles and Benjamin once more embracing one another with their Belts in their hands.
