why are you still awake at this late hour. (I am still awake at this late hour bc I just finished reading Fangirl.) Anyway,

Adrien as Cath, Felix as Wren, Marinette as Levi, Luka as Reagan.

I sincerely doubt you've read Fangirl so I will, of course, elaborate.

Adrien and Felix (identical twins in this AU) are starting their first year of college together in some Midwestern state, probably Missouri because I'm rather fond of Missouri (I'd do my current state in the Northeast but the original state is set in Nebraska and it really needs that Midwestern vibe tbh.)

Adrien writes fanfiction. Lots and lots and lots of fanfiction. He lives in fanfiction. He loves it. After his father left, it kept him safe - fanfiction means something.

(About what? TBD. I'm considering doing something witty and making it about superheroes, someone suggested Naruto, I could always keep it Simon Snow - I did read Carry On a few years ago - but the main point is, he likes fanfiction. Probably gay fanfiction.)

After so many years together, Felix is now insisting they part ways for college, and Adrien - to his horror - has to deal with a randomly assigned roommate.

This ends up being Luka Couffaine. Who is... different. A little bit older. Cooler, more confident. He decidedly does not write fanfiction - and he's almost certainly not someone Adrien could talk with about fanfiction. And now Felix is pushing away, too, leaving Adrien alone.

Luka's girlfriend (girlfriend?) Marinette is also constantly hanging around the dorm, and despite everything, she's... different. Kind. Sweet. She seems interested in Adrien for who he is.

(AKA one of the most self indulgent AUs I've ever made. Kart, do you remember when I messaged you about the fake marriage AU and gave almost no context? I know you know almost nothing about that AU but more self indulgent then even that AU, which is very fucking self indulgent. Also, they'd both have the same "Alternate Universe - America" tag.)

Nice short story, brings up interesting posible outside perspectives on the Shanghai situation. Minimal plot. A nice read.

Adrien Agreste might be a world renown supermodel working for his father's company, but deep down he is as awkward as a turtle. Or rather, a cat who fell off a ledge by accident.

Therefore introducing himself to the cute girl who works at the patisserie is turning out to be a lot harder than he originally anticipated.

I think “Adrien never went to public school” might be one of my favorite AU types, while that’s there in this fic it’s definitely not the focus instead being a catalyst for Adrien to be the blushy mess trying to ask Marinette out on a date. Lots of cute Adrinette with Ladynoir friendship on the side.

Hi! Oddly specific question, but what kind of food do you think Andre Bourgeois would like? There's a line in my fic where he says something like "Your cooking reminds me of my my favorite [something]!" but idk what to fill in that blank because I know nothing about French food. For the sake of comedy I like to think he'd mention something obnoxiously expensive :p

Thanks for your question, we always love talking about food and this was a great occasion 👀

Here's a shortlist of dishes that could fit the bill and are typically French:

Scallops or lobster: they have a really fancy reputation here, definitely not something you'd eat everyday and would be quite expensive in a restaurant; they're not exclusively French, but they're part of the animals you can find when fishing in Brittany for instance.

Snails: suuuuper cliché, not many people actually eat them here but André struck us as someone who would 😂 Most (if not all) of the taste comes from whatever sauce is served with it, and that could be more or less fancy!

Frogs' legs: again, cliché, only one of us has ever tasted them, it's quite a niche dish to have.

Coq au vin/boeuf bourguignon/blanquette de veau: these are plats en sauce, i.e. basically stews, and are typically French. They're originally not particularly expensive or fancy, but they do take a while to make (because simmering is involved), so it's less and less common to have them often. A lot of restaurants serve them though, and would make them sound very fancy.

Any dish featuring deer, pheasant, boar...: anything that's hunted, because it's pretty rare nowadays so costs a lot!

These are the main examples that came to mind, otherwise we agreed that André would definitely be the type of person who regularly eats at the Fouquet's and La Tour d'Argent restaurants in Paris, which are both very fancy and expensive, so their menus can be a source of inspiration!
