A brand new edition of my award-winning* hockey column The Alfond Report. This week I'm previewing Hockey East, so go and see where your team stands.

The Metal Bar of Doom
We had a very odd, separated press box at UMass-Lowell's Tsongas Center when we went to call the BU game. It was right above the rounded corner of the rink, and instead of the cool bubble-like walls the main press box had, we had a curtain.
That was okay, except there was a metal stand holding up the thin curtain. Someone from outside walked into the metal rod and it fell on my head.
I was okay, it was just weird. Especially because the woman who walked into it was smiling and asked if I was okay, so I, overtaken by the surprise of a metal rod falling on my head, laughed and said I was fine.
I'm still impressed by the strange stuff that happens whenever I try to call a game.
