Umbra hounds - another quick write-up
So I'm taking a short hiatus from my work in general, so I figured I'd write this out since I've been procrastinating a bit lol.
In my research, I've encountered a few new entities, although this post will be focusing purely on the hounds i've been working with. Take this all with a grain of salt, as I've only been able to work with one or two hounds, otherwise the information I have about them is all from their own mouths. *Please don't take this as a description of the entire species.*
Appearance -
Umbra hounds can have fairly varying appearances, but will usually have the general appearance of a fully black pelt with red eyes. The ones that I've encountered also have a similar body structure to a german shepherd, generally well suited for hunting. Other than this, there isn't really a catch-all for what a hound will look like.
Personality -
While all hounds have very distinct personalities, I've been told by the hounds I've met that they tend to keep to themselves, although some will form packs depending on where they live, their social structure, etc. They are fairly "to the point", but they aren't inherently aggressive. For the most part they will keep their word, although that isn't to say that you should trust them without critical thinking.
Feeding -
From my experience and conversations, all umbra hounds can take down entities fairly quickly. They are quite efficient, especially when working in a pack, and they can eat almost anything. They strip away the energy until it is no longer harmful to them, which proves incredibly beneficial. All umbra hounds have a degree of this skill, although it is up to them to fine-tune it (for example, my companion can easily eat my eldritch without hassle, although this may prove difficult for other hounds if they haven't practiced this specific skill).
Plane -
While the umbra hounds are originally from the umbra plane (and many will stay in the plane they are born in), they may choose to spread out throughout other planes, jumping inbetween them with ease. They generally will stay in other planes full of umbra, although the ones I've spoken to have personally been to many planes, such as this one, hellborn planes, eldritch planes, etc.
Disclaimer -
While you can find umbra hounds if you know where to look, it's probably best to keep your distance from them, since they are quite powerful. Even the hounds that haven't done much hunting or fighting can still hold their ground. Please don't try to bind one or force one into a companionship without their permission; it's harmful to both them and you. Basically, just don't be an asshole, don't treat them like uwu puppies (or like dogs on this plane at all, honestly), and don't try to bind them into anything without their consent and you'll be fine.
