Umbrella still prays to Firebrand even all these years after he went missing.

They tell him about life, about his grandkids, about what’s going on in their soap operas, anything really. They just want to talk to him again. They can sit for hours at the altar praying to him, having little one-sided conversations, imagining him responding. Sometimes they laugh, sometimes they cry, sometimes they don’t have much to say and just leave flowers.

They’re mad at him, about the fire. But they remember the oath they took, to serve and advise him for the rest of their days, and they remember the memories they shared with him, and they pray anyways. Because even after all these years, they love him still.

Something I think about a lot with Firebrella is the fact that, at the time of the game, Umbrella is in their 50s.

We know inphernals have lifespans similar to humans, but die earlier on average due to violence. The oldest inphernals we currently know of (excluding deities) are Umbrella and Zuka who are both in their 50s.

Firebrand. Has missed TEN years of their life.

Can you imagine the regret, the gut-wrenching guilt you’d feel as an immortal god, if you missed so many years of your mortal lover’s life?????? WHAT IF HE ISN’T THERE WHEN THEY DIE. WHAT FUCKING THEN

IMAGINNEEEEEE being Umbrella and you have. LIVED with this guy. You have seen him through the worst. You have helped him raise his child. You have helped him raise his GRANDCHILDREN. And then this motherfucker commits a genocide and gets sent to the pause realm??????? HE AIN’T EVEN PAYIN CHILD SUPPORT?!???!??!!,!(!(

I asked Soda about this during the QnA but she didn’t answer me, but it is. Very LIKELY that Umbrella doesn’t even know what happened to him. They haven’t even seen him. He never even said goodbye.

But they are still loyal to him????? Not only do they continue to watch over Flipside, they still refer to him as their Lord in the SFOTH spawnday QnA, they are like. Still devoted to him. Just. Waiting for him to come back.

This is another one of those reasons why I really wanna believe FB is imprisoned somewhere and his disappearance was against his own will. FIREBRAND THEY ARE WAITING 4 YOU (>’_’<)

Something very. Sickeningly sweet abt this relationship. Firebrand would ABSOLUTELY fall in love with a mortal, out of all of the SFOTH he’s the one I’d deem Most Likely to Fall in Love With His Mortal Advisor

Not only do I wonder if Umbrella knows what happened to him, I wonder if FLIPSIDE knows. Dom says that Firebrand is just “retired.” Is he purposefully trying to lighten the situation in the eyes of the public, or has Umbrella genuinely been telling him and Valk that Firebrand will be back? “He’s just taking a break, he needed to go on vacation, he’ll be back eventually,” because they have faith in him to return despite how long he’s been gone…..

They’ve said in the aforementioned SFOTH QnA “Lord Firebrand is out at the moment. It is uncertain when he will return.” Not IF, but WHEN. Because they trust him. Because they love him.
