The Schefflera abyssinica (umbrella tree, gatame) is an important bee forage tree species in Ethiopia. It is an indigenous tree that initially can grow as an epiphyte mainly on trees such as Acacia abyssinica and finally overwhelms them to become an independent tree. It produces creamy-white flowers from March to May which results in a light-coloured honey that has a slightly buttery texture with a spicy finish to the flavour. This specimen of Schefflera abyssinica was in the garden of the Mirutse Family Honey Farm, Bonga.

A few of my favs at home, my tall snake plant is almost at capacity. My next place will have to have 15ceilings and a hopefully even more natural light …currently I have a ton. My pilea  is looking a bit limp, I’m still trying to figure that one out.

Plant on the right is Scindapsus pictus (Philodendron silver) - from a cutting I gave her - well done! - 📷 3) #whatmyplantsees a skylight provides a large unobstructed view of the sky. Think about this - the plant doesn't need to have direct line of sight with the sun to be receiving light. Most tropical foliage plants just need direct line of sight with as much of the sky as possible.
