Effortless beauty comes from a knowing within that you ARE beautiful, not that you LOOK beautiful 💭 . I remember my big sister mentioning this to me when her daughter, my niece, was about 3. She was frustrated with people constantly telling her wee one how beautiful she looked, placing so much focus on the external. It was really one of the first times I’d considered how powerful that distinction was, not only to the early development of a child, but also to us who have grown up being told about our beauty, and never reflecting on the source of it. . It’s great to look beautiful, and it is a compliment to be told that, but I personally find more distinction and truth in the simple statement, “you A R E beautiful.” . That to me is a true recognition of what’s really going on under the surface and genuinely speaks more succinctly in actually being able to put into words how you feel about that person or about yourself (try saying that to yourself in the mirror and see how it feels.) . Knowing you look beautiful is a delight, but knowing you are beautiful (inside, in your mind, in your actions) - that takes effort to install and yet it’s also something inherent to all of us for simply being us. . So if I might remind you once more on this Easter Monday, dayum girl You ARE b e a u t i f u l 😘 .
