It might be early for some. But for someone who didn't celebrate the exact day for.. obvious reasons.. now was as good a time as ever. So quietly approach from behind as other sat at their desk, busy as ever. Foot steps are thankfully light, thus they'd only notice arrival once article was draped over shoulders. No packaging, no wrappers. Value in gift was with warmth, so better to use it sooner than later. A leather jacket that would match style but offer a bit more of heat in case of chilly times. Though she wouldn't stay, as a mad dash only capable for servants echoes away as she leaves.
...If one listened carefully, they might hear a trip. Before scrambling to get up and continue, of course.

Maybe Riley could tell that Nero was sneaking up behind her, and maybe Nero could tell that Riley tensed up a little bit from sensing her presence. But hey, maybe that was what made a relationship work -- knowing when to shut up, and to let go. The cool touch of leather was what surprised her, but in retrospect it was reasonable enough. The emperor was a fan of uncommon goods; perhaps she'd seen the lack of it in her wardrobe as an opportunity, not a choice. (Luckily, a thrifty one, not an ethical one.) In time, Riley shut the laptop, wandered out to the living room where both emperor and stinky little dog were at rest.
"Thanks, NC. You wanna watch a movie?"
