Hi! I love your work. In High Valyrian, you differentiate between cross cousins and parallel cousins. I noticed in your transcriptions of the dialogue in House of the Dragon, Vaemond addresses Laena as "talus" in his funeral speech, which is daughter. Is this because she is the daughter of his brother, so he would address Laena and Laenor as daughter and son like they would call him father? What would the other words for niece and nephew be? As in a woman's brother's children or a man's sister's children. And would the words depend on the birth order of the siblings as well like they do for aunt/uncle and brother/sister? Thanks!
Yes, a parallel niece or nephew you simply call your daughter/son (so if I had a brother, his daughter would be my tala "niece", and his son would be my trēsy "nephew"). For a cross niece or nephew, you use -anna plus your relationship to your sibling. The resultant word can mean either "niece" or "nephew":
valonqranna "the child of your younger brother"
lēkianna "the child of your older brother"
hāedranna "the child of your younger sister"
mandianna "the child of your older sister"
Again, only when referring to your cross niece or nephew.
