Officially Back On
Hello everybody, long time no see. It’s Mack here. I’ll start with the good news: The Patriots Hotline Miami fan game is officially back on, coded from scratch and all! It had one foot in the grave for a couple of years, but now I’m officially bringing it back. However, the less fortunate news is that DB/WXM has chosen to officially step away from the project as co-director. Nothing dramatic happened, everybody’s still cool with one another, it’s just that real life got in the way, as it is wont to do (and the pandemic certainly didn’t help). DB has given me their blessing to use anything previously made for the project in this revitalization, with the exception of the code. Their reasons for this decision are personal and I intend to fully respect them. As a result of this, I have taken up the reins as sole director of the project—sprites, coding, story, the works. Fortunately I’ve found working in GameMaker Studio to be a very engrossing hobby! That, and I should have much more time to work on the game now that I’m out of graduate school. Since I started coding in earnest in the beginning of May, I have several features of the groundwork implemented, such as collisions, furniture, player animation, and firearm mechanics. Overall I have big plans for this game—but in keeping with the goal of avoiding overpromising without delivering, I won’t go into specifics right now. Thanks to everyone who’s stuck around all of this time, despite the lack of recent updates. I’ve been away from this account for a while, so I’ll have to play catch-up with my inbox. And to my friend and former modding partner, DB: thank you for everything you’ve done in our time together. Without you, I honestly would not be where I am today.
