please. please, for the love of us, please.
Stop expecting billionaires to not Touch the Thing that Makes Them Money.
Of course, they're going to abuse short form content and make it addictive and hire user accounts to pump in biased news and advertisements.
Of course, they're going to make you sick with barely passing products (and bribe associations and orgs like the FDA) so they can save money. They're going to use that money make drugs and other products that 'solve the problem' of the first product (but it actually doesn't do jackshit and they're overpriced).
Of course, they're going to capitalize on conventional attractiveness and classism. It's easy for them to prey on the vulnerable they created.
Of course, they're going to create products for the sole reason of making it a demand and then becoming the sole supplier (ie, computers, smart phones, internet, gas, oil, etc).
Once we start collectively taking our faith out of major corporations and seeing the games they play and strings they pull, we'll be able to move on and realize local is always better, in any case. We'll also realize that human lives and livelihoods will never be worth the cost of convenience.
what else did we think would happen when we tried to make a space where everyone on earth could be
I know we're fucked by capitalism when I asked my friend:
if you could have a magical item that could give you one thing/one ability, what would it be?
and she said a wand that gave her unlimited money
is it hard or is it unprecedented?
I think at some point we'll realize the internet is the problem and not the stuff on the internet
why is it so hard to make things easier
you're walking down a trail you know we'll. you have supplies needed for a nice hike like water, snacks, a camera, a map. you see someone who is on the ground, leaning against a tree.
"what's wrong?" you ask.
"I'm thirsty," they say.
so you hand them a couple of dollars and go on your way, feeling good that you helped someone today.
money is worthless, in every case. it does not help us. it can not be eaten. it can not be drank. it can not keep us company. it can not be used as shelter. it can only be used to burn in our fires, but even still, it won't be enough to keep us warm for long. the only point is to keep us hungry, thirsty, unsheltered, alone, and cold. it is only a tool to keep us believing that there are people in power due to their wealth. they have no power.
money is worthless.
the solution is us. help your community, feed your community, water your community, house your community. keep your community alive. live outside of money, and people will no longer believe it has power.
