tomorrow. let's do something.

as a local pella kid, i know many people in this town. not everyone, like many believe about small-ish town Iowa, but many. after leaving this area for college, i chose to take an opportunity to return home, marry my high school sweet heart and now together, Chelsea and i have started raising our kids here. we love it. we love it so much that tomorrow is going to hurt.

there are a couple other "pella kids" who lost a son in a tragic car accident 1 year ago. tomorrow marks exactly 1 year. it doesn't take long to realize that Blake was pretty extraordinary. the stories his family and friends have shared make that abundantly clear. tomorrow is going to hurt because we will all be reminded of the loss and the emotions we felt 1 year ago.

so, we could sit in that, but that wouldn't be Blake's response. In fact, for the last 11 months, the people in, around and from this community haven't been sitting in that at all. there's been a lot remembering and honoring by doing. another "pella kid," through his foundation and clothing line (Seer Outfitters), raised money by selling t-shirts with all proceeds going to fund a community sports complex and a high school mission trip that Blake was planning to go on. 

I think we have an opportunity to honor Blake's memory by doing something tomorrow. 3 easy things:

Wear a Seer shirt tomorrow. If you don't have one, ask around to borrow one. I've got some. Message me if you need one.

Make a donation to your local church or organization that are doing great things. Blake seemed to have a heart for missions, so maybe it's your local church and their student ministry / missions.

Do something uncommon or extraordinary for someone else tomorrow. Maybe it's for a neighbor, maybe a co-worker or classmate or random stranger. Small and random acts of kindness can make a big ripple.
