first day!

When Kai’s alarm clock went off earlier than usual, they immediately slammed down on the off button and leaped out of bed. They actually got up so fast that they got woozy and had to sit back down for a second to get their bearings. Head in their hands, they grinned. When was the last time they’d been so excited to start the day?

They quickly showered, changed into their favorite bright red jeans, and even hazarded to wear shoes that weren’t rainboots, since it miraculously didn’t seem to be raining outside (yet). Before leaving, they considered grabbing their backpack for school after work, but they figured they could just come home to do their online assignments when their shift was over. They would probably be tired, anyway, and maybe need a nap.

So Kai bounded out the door and into the street...which was...dry. Amazing. What a day. With such rare nice weather, it took them no time at all to reach the Kahi. They almost wanted to stay outside longer to appreciate the warm breeze, but their excitement to begin work pulled them through the front doors. A bell jingled as they entered and approached the counter. Flora was going to teach them how to brew coffee! How exciting!

But also nervewracking. Yikes.

Kai was excited to meet up with Flora outside of work for the first time, but they were even more excited to show her their surprise. They’d finally bought a dog leash yesterday, and they were bouncing up and down in excitement as they clipped it onto the stray’s new collar and managed to get the two of them out of the door.

The pair were both visibly excited when Kai spotted Flora waiting in the park. The stray, spotting Flora’s dog, pulled on the leash, hard. Kai was yanked forward, jogging to avoid strain on their arm as they approached Flora.

“Hey!” they called, waving their free arm in a wide arc. “Look what I got!”

Kai likes their phone organized so when they were asking for Flora’s full name to put in her contact they turned on the camera and surprised her with “Smile!” Flora turned around confused with flour on her cheek. So cute they kept it.

Pretty sure Kai is too straight-edge to find a fun ringtone for anybody...eventually Flora thinks this is boring and sends Kai one of her songs to put in her contact so now Flora is Kai’s only personalized ringtone and they always know when they’re late for work.
