Counter Tops!
K's counter tops were installed today. We were originally looking at Quartz, but after finding the only styles she liked were the most expensive, K opened her search up to granite.
She found a nice piece at half the price of the quartz we both liked!
The whole kitchen redo started with K's want for new counter tops and an under-mount sink. Even though the project has grown a little in scope, we didn't lose sight of the original goal. She saved us a lot choosing granite over quartz, so we popped for a fancy new faucet to match, and I bought the most expensive and bad-ass Kohler sink strainer that the 'Depot had, cuz it was solid machined steel and really heavy, and we all know that heavy machined stuff is quality.
The interior wall with the stove is really coming together. This wall went from 2.6 sqft of countertop to 14.2 sqft. That's 5.5 times more work surface and cabinet volume for K! (The gas range/oven has been great, too.) Open shelving is the last big improvement for this wall, and back splash for both walls is next, once K settles on a splash tile she likes.
Here's a close up of the slab. Gray-ish, with enough light and dark to compliment the white cabinets and stainless/black appliances. There are also warm sweeps of a subtle maroon that tie in the wood floor and the wall color.
