Wanna know what a baby monster looks like?
Characterized by their fluffiness, a baby Underbed monster could fit in a sock. Their designs are based on hawk chicks and speculations about juvenile dinosaurs.
In their fluffy stage, they are considered helpless with parents creating a small pocket to carry them in. The pocket material is often the first piece of fabric the young monster repairs its future wounds with.
When monsters outgrow the pocket, they typically cling to the parent's outer tail and may participate in finding food. When all of the fluff has fallen out, they are abandoned by their parent and deemed able to look out for themselves.
Remnant fluff between segments of the inner tail is a common signifier of a younger adult monster. Some monsters may retain some fur in certain areas of their body into adulthood.
"Just follow the light, you'll be back in slumberland real soon..."
God I really feel that linework and light source wise this is some of my best work. Thanks to Leer who is an OC I like a lot...
SPOILERS OH MY GOD DO NOT OPEN
Good news: I made some art of a bad guy in Underbed book 1 that I am very proud of
Good news: I made a little pixel art of Sly who is to-scale with this picture!
Good news: I discover that the pixel art of Sly is to-scale with Andy's sprite art
Good news: that means the picture of the monster is too
Bad news: that means the picture is to-scale with other foreground Heart of Darkness sprite art
Why is that bad news?
Sly: "Apologize. Apologize to our patron saint Anthony Bourdain"
*gestures at framed print out of Mads Mikkelsen on the set of Hannibal (2013)*
Leer: "You mean Martha Stewart?"
The Hatman:
YOOOOOOOOOO I think I'm finally getting somewhere
I continue to refine the look I want for Leer.
I figured life is too short not to give him a pocket in the belly.
fiction is the perfect place to fulfill your wildest dreams.
Like for instance, cleaning up the old farmhouse while listening to Mr. Blue Sky.
