A preview of NYC’s underground park is now open to the public

The #LowLine transforms the abandoned #historic #trolleyterminal on the #LowerEastSide of #NewYorkCity to a #supercool #undergroundpark where we see not enough #green living our lives . Its an amazing project, read and a great watch, http://www.thelowline.org/ #remoteskylight #sunlight #photosynthesis #les #manhattan #innovative #solartechnology #lowlinenyc #lettherebelight #cosmopolitan #urbanparks (at Lower East Side - Manhattan)
See our vision on how to create a stunning underground park in one of the world's most dense, exciting urban environments - New York City's Lower East Side.
The world's first underground park may soon be coming to New York City. Two designers, Dan Barasch and James Ramsey, have proposed this subterranean park called The Lowline. If this project were to come to fruition, the old Essex Street Trolley Terminal located on Manhattan's Lower East Side would be converted into the underground park. The idea spawned from people's desire for more green space and fresh air in a crowded city that is filled with high-rise buildings. Barasch and Ramsey have already developed the technology that would help bring sunlight underground, and help in the growth of plants in this subterranean park. Last year a video released by the MTA, who owns the land for this proposal, asked for ideas that would generate recreation facilities or restaurants, etc. However, the MTA is not currently taking any proposals at this time - not even the proposal for Lowline. Barasch and Ramsey are still pushing for and developing their idea, and the community seems very excited about such a possibility.
What are your thoughts on a possible subterranean park; is this the future of green and public space?
I would love to see this happen. http://thelowline.org/
