"I'm just the man in the middle of a complicated plan."
Both defeat and humiliation have been my constant companion. I have always been a straggler, wallowing in darkness.

You know how there’s always that debate about whether we should separate the artist from the art?
Most people only bring that up when the artist is a genuinely terrible human being, but the talent is so insane that we look past it because the art hits so hard.
And then there are the artists where you need to separate the art from the artist simply because the music is too damn good — a once in a generation talent — even if the individual behind it is… not the most liked person. Wale is absolutely in that second category.
His music is personal, layered, poetic, intellectual — all the things that make him one of the most talented rappers and writers of our time. Yes, I’m that fan. I love Wale the musician.
But the personality? Lord. It has done him no favors. It has cost him opportunities, cost him perception, cost him the respect he deserves in the industry. And the craziest part is he KNOWS it. He’s sensitive about his art, he reacts, then people react to that, and it becomes this weird ecosystem of perception that overshadows the music.
But THIS album?
This is the Wale I’ve been waiting for him to show the masses FOREVER.
The Wale who blends poetry, hip-hop, and R&B into something that feels like a conversation you shouldn’t be overhearing. I’m so damn happy for him. I’ve seen him live 3 times, and with this release, I’ll be there a 4th.
I relate to so much of what he’s saying. I’ve been the girl he’s talking about in so many situations.
Ugh, Wale, I feel you. His soul is intellectually sexy.
This is hands down his best album. This shit is 🔥
Nobody can ever make me hate him.
