The man we knew, my brother Prince Cassius—erased our history and took those stories, twisting them into mere fairy tales of which you learned throughout your childhood.” Asgore’s eyes shimmered as he grabbed hold of the pulpit, forcing his composure as his shoulders began to shake.
“Queen Dahlia, my beloved sister, died to our brother’s sword those two hundred years ago, and today we celebrate her life, bringing peace to her legacy. She was not just a queen . . . she was a sister, a mother, and a wife. And from this moment forth—” Asgore forced himself to let go and take hold of the rope keeping the curtains aloft, “her face will be a reminder of HOPE.”
The curtain fell and hundreds of gasps lifted up within the large hall as cameras rose to capture the painting beneath it. “A reminder that we will no longer hide in the shadows and deny who we are. We are Monsters, we are creatures of heart, of spirit, and love. No longer shall my brother’s lies plague the minds of this people. Instead you will know the truth of what has happened here. The years of toil, of bloodshed, the tears, and the laughter.”
“I vow to you, I will lift the broken hearts, take up the mantles left to decay, and I will bring peace to this world again.” A cheer rose up louder than anything Lotus had heard before. Even the stage did not have this kind of power. Sans squeezed her shoulder, kneeling to take her hand as she reveled in the sound. “And it is because of one person.” Lotus stiffened drawing her eyes away from the crowd to look to the king who was already smiling her way. “So thank her for this new future, because we would be lost without her.”
