I was cleared by Bruce, as long as i promised to take it easy for a couple of days! Bucky walked with me back to the residential floor, Evie safely tucked into his right arm as i leant on his left for a bit of support.
"Hey Buck, lets just stop in the common room for a bit. I need to eat and not be stuck in a bed for a while"
"You sure? Bruce said to rest...."
"I'll be resting just fine on the sofa, while you make me a sandwich"
"Okay, deal" he chuckled shaking his head as we walked into the common room. I walked over to the sofa and gently lowered myself down, Bucky standing close by waiting for me to get comfortable.
"I'm not sure how much rest you'll get when the team realise you and Evie are in here" he said leaning forward to place Evie in my arms once he saw i was settled "what do you want on your sandwich doll?"
"I really dont mind, id eat anything im that hungry" i scoffed as i snuggled into the sofa with Evie laying on my chest.
"Well i'll be damned!!" Came the booming voice of Sam Wilson.
"Shhhhh she's sleeping bird brain!" Bucky snapped as he playfully shoved Sams shoulder.
"Sorry! I didnt know!" He mumbled as he walked over and sat across from me "i heard what happened but i thought they were all just messing with me!!"
"Nope its true, surprise huh?"
"Id say!! She's beautiful Y/N" Sam flashed a huge grin as he looked down at Evie.
"Thank you Sam" i smiled proudly and looked over to see Bucky keeping a close eye on us while he made my sandwich.
"What are you? The baby bodyguard?" Sam laughed teasing Bucky, Sam had obviously noticed that Bucky was keeping a close eye on us.
"Try the baby daddy!" Bucky replied with a dead straight face and murder in his eyes.
"What??!!" Sam practically squealed at Bucky's reply.
"Oh my god Buck.... did you really just say that?" I laughed at him, his eyes met mine and his facade broke as he burst out laughing "im sorry! I heard Tony say it yesterday" Bucky shrugged as he walked over with the plate holding my sandwich.
"Please don't ever say that again"
"Wait.... are you serious? Or are you fucking with me?? i honestly cant tell!"
Sam said shaking his head and looking super confused.
"Language! Don't swear around my daughter!" Bucky slapped Sam on the back of the head as he passed.
"Switch please" i smiled up at Bucky before taking the plate, once his hands were free he carefully picked up Evie and had her held against his chest in no time.
"Wow..... you’re like... good at the dad thing Buck" Sam said sounding surprised.
"I had younger sisters growing up, it was a long time ago but I'm pretty sure its still the same" he chuckled.
"Wait, how long have you two...."
"You can take this one Buck I'm eating" i said with a shit eating grin.
"Thanks Y/N" he rolled his eyes, looked at Sam and shrugged "it was one time, we're not together.... but we're in this together. Right doll?" He looked at me and smiled.
"Yep, what he said" i replied trying to keep my tone steady, it hurt a little hearing how casual he made it sound. It took me back to when he had acted like nothing had happened between us after we finally slept together all those months ago.
"I cant believe y'all have a baby!"
"Neither can we!" I said around a mouthful of my sandwich "imagine my surprise when Bruce told me i didn't have stomach flu and that i was in fact in labour!"
"Thats crazy sweetheart"
"Sure was, scariest thing I've ever been through Sammy....And the pain.... nothing compares to that!"
"But it was worth it, look what you got out of it" Sam was hovering around Evie clearly wanting to hold her but Bucky wasn't parting with her just yet.
"She was worth every bit of the pain".
Later that afternoon I was walking back to the common room after taking a shower and getting into clean clothes, i stopped by the door when i heard Sam and Bucky talking in hushed voices.
"Oh come on man! These girls are hot! You cant pass that up!" Sam was saying to Bucky.
"I don't know Sam, i don't really think me going out on a date is a good idea right now"
"Why the hell not?? Just because you got a kid now? Im sure Evie wont mind"
"Y/N's been through a lot man, i just feel like i need to be here for her and Evie"
"Buck come onnnn! they will both probably be asleep by 7pm! the date is at 8, you dont need to stay that long..."
I couldn't believe what i was hearing! I pushed the door open making sure it was loud enough that they heard me. Both men turned to face me, Sam with a huge fake smile and Bucky just looked plain guilty.
"Sorry did i interrupt something?" I asked casually as i flipped on the kettle to make some tea.
"No doll of course not"
"I was just telling Bucky about a date i arranged for him.... a double date actually. I needed a wingman"
"Oh...."
"And I was just telling Sam that i didn't think it was a good idea. I thought it'd be best if i stayed here incase you and Evie needed me"
"If you wanna go Buck don't let us stop you" i snapped turning to face them "i'll be fine with Evie on my own"
"See! I told you she'd be cool!"
I was suddenly feeling so angry and on the verge of tears all at once! I just needed to get away from them, I walked over to Bucky and reached down taking Evie.
"She needs feeding" i said simply "go on your date Bucky" i mumbled as i turned around and headed for my room.
I was sat on my bed nursing Evie with tears running down my face when i heard the knock on my door. I chose to ignore it hoping that whoever it was would take the hint and leave me alone.
"Y/N.... doll i know you’re in there i can hear you" Steve called from outside making me sigh and wipe my tears away.
"Im just feeding Evie, i'll be out in a minute"
"Can i come in?.... i can tell you’re upset sweetheart"
"Im fine Steve..." i called back but burst into tears again. The next thing i know the door clicked open and Steve came in, he pushed the door closed behind him and locked it before rushing to my side. He sat next to me on my bed pulling me into him carefully while trying not to disrupt Evie's feeding.
"You wanna tell me whats wrong?" He asked quietly as he stroked my arm trying to calm me down.
"Im just a huge hormonal mess right now Steve" i mumbled not wanting to admit what had set me off "its been a lot to adjust to i guess and i think its all just catching up to me"
"You sure thats all? You know you can talk to me Y/N.... about anything"
"I know" i nodded "I'm not even sure why i got so upset.... not really"
"So something did upset you"
"It was stupid..... don't worry about it" i told him as i sat up seeing that Evie was done feeding, i held her blanket over my chest so i didn't expose myself to Steve.
"Could you take her for a second while i sort this out?"
"Sure" he nodded happily taking Evie.
I straightened out my shirt and settled back against the bed watching Steve burp Evie. His huge hand was rested against her chest supporting her chin and jaw, his free hand gently rubbing her back.
"How do you even know how to wind a baby Steve?" I asked curiously, he looked like a pro!
"I may have done some research" he blushed a little "i wanted to know what kinda stuff needed to be done so i could help out if you needed me to"
I was suddenly crying again!!
"Oh god.... what?? Why are you crying?"
He asked starting to panic.
"That was really thoughtful of you Steve! I cant believe you went to that effort for us... for Evie"
"Of course i did, gotta be there for my favourite girls" he said smiling just as Evie let out a little burp making us both laugh, it was the cutest little sound!
"So why are you in here crying? Talk to me" Steve said a few minutes later.
"Steve...."
"Wouldn't have anything to do with whatever the hell Sam and Bucky were bickering over would it?"
"Probably" I nodded as i picked at a thread on the blanket avoiding looking at Steve "Sam arranged a date for Bucky. I heard them talking.... Bucky said he didn't think he should go considering I've just given birth to his daughter. He feels like he needs to be here incase we need him" i shrugged "i want him to want to be here for her, i don't want him to feel like he has to.... like she's a burden to his dating life" i admitted to Steve then started to laugh at how stupid i sounded "i sound fucking crazy i know!"
"No you don't"
"I told him to go, told him that he should go on his date.... not to let us stop him, that i would be fine on my own"
"But you don't want him to go on that date do you" It wasn't a question, it was Steve stating a fact.
"No..."
"Y/N, why don't you just tell him that?"
"Because i'll sound like a crazy woman!! he doesn't owe me anything Steve, he’s not my boyfriend.... we didn't plan this" i rambled on not even sure if i was making any sense at all "yes, we have a daughter together now but that doesn't mean he has to put his life on hold. If he wants to date who am i to stop him?"
"And what about your feelings for Bucky?"
"W..what?" I asked wide eyed, caught off guard by Steve's comment.
"Im not blind doll, i see the way you are with him... the way you look at him. You love him" Steve stated smiling "and that was before you had Evie!"
"I.... i dont... shit. So what if i do huh?? Steve, it doesnt change the fact that he doesnt feel the same way!"
"How do you know that? Have you asked him??"
"Of course i haven't asked him!! But he made it clear enough back in Alaska" i shrugged.

"Good, id be lost without you Steve" i kissed his cheek and pulled back to look at him "i'll talk to Bucky, you two need to get back to how you were before"

"Oh shut up, that didn't hurt" i laughed "now i need you to listen to what im about to say and put a stop to this shit with Steve" i told him sternly, he started to shake his head and get up but i pushed him back down and swung my leg over him so i was straddling his waist "I'm not done!" I warned as i cupped his face in my hands and looked into those beautiful blue eyes of his.
"I know you don't want to hear that your best friend likes your girl but i need you to know that you have nothing to worry about. Im not going to leave you, I'm not going to choose Steve.... you’re the only one i want Buck. I love you with everything that i am, id never do anything to loose you. Me, you and Evie thats all i need, our little family"
"So you don't feel the same way about Steve?"
"No baby, i love Steve as a friend but I'm IN love with you. Always"

"I know" i smiled leaning forward to kiss him "i need you to trust me, id never do anything to hurt you. Now you need to make up with Steve and stop trying to keep me away from him. I just want things to go back to how they were before you two had your little chat!"

"Sleeping in the bedroom"

“So um i was wondering if maybe you would let us spend the weekend at your lake house?” I asked quickly “I’m still not back on missions yet and Bucky hasn’t got any right now..... we just need some time together”
“You’re not having trouble are you?”
“No, of course not i just think we need to be alone, we love living here but its never just us”
“I get what you mean, sure. Its not a problem i’ll get the keys for you”
“Thank you Tony” i smiled happily.
“You want to leave Evie with me? I don’t mind babysitting”
“No its fine, id like to have her with us. Our first family vacation and all”
“Sure, well if you change your mind...”

"You going to be okay? You don't look so good" Natasha asked holding the back of her hand to my forehead "you’re burning up"
"I'll be fine Nat, think its just a stomach bug. I'll get some sleep while you guys are gone and hopefully feel a bit better" i said hoping that i was right, i had been feeling awful since last night.... i had been sick and had the worst stomach cramps of my life that had resulted in me curled up in a fetal position in bed.
"promise me if you feel any worse you'll call Bruce. He’s going to be staying here in his lab"
"I promise" i chuckled as i pulled a blanket over myself "now go kick some ass"
"Okay, i'll come check on you when i get back" she said before leaving me alone in my room.
It had been a couple hours since Nat left and the pain was getting worse but because I'm stubborn i refused to bother Bruce. They would think i was over reacting to a bad case of stomach flu! I managed to get up and walk out to the kitchen to get some water. Suddenly the pain was unlike anything i had felt in my life and i fell to floor with a scream.
"F.R.I.D.A.Y call Bruce please.... i need his help" i cried out to the A.I.
"Yes Ms Y/L/N, right away"
The doors opened seconds later and i heard Steve and Tonys voices chatting casually as they walked into the kitchen.
"Hey guys??.... i think somethings wrong" i managed to say to get their attention, they both stopped and looked over to me on the floor their eyes going wide before running over.
"Y/N!" Steve said reaching me first and kneeling down beside me "what happened?"
"I don't know..... I've not been feeling too great, i thought it was stomach flu...." i stopped to let out another yell and curled up holding my stomach.
"Get her to Banner now!" Tony told Steve, Steve was already scooping me up into his big arms and running to the elevator, Tony following behind him.
As the doors opened Bruce was inside making his way down "whats going on?? F.R.I.D.A.Y told me Y/N needed medical attention" he said looking between us all.
"Somethings wrong with her Bruce" Steve told him as i cried into his shirt.
"it hurts so bad...." i told him squeezing my eyes tight.
"Okay sweetie, we're nearly at the lab i'll take care of you. Give you something for the pain" Bruce said softly from beside me.
Steve was soon carrying me into the medical bay, Bruce walking ahead of us slightly.
"Put her on the bed, I'm gonna run a full body scan see if it picks up on anything unusual" Bruce said to Steve pulling over a machine that he had used on all of us at some point over the years. While it scanned he went over to grab some morphine and a syringe ready to give me some release from the pain.
"Just relax, Bruce will help with the pain any second.... he’s gonna help you" Steve said softly brushing my hair out of my face.
"I cant believe you didn't tell us how bad you were feeling! We would've had someone stay with you" Tony said rolling his eyes at you. Tony treated you more like the little sister he never had and he was pissed that you had kept it to yourself.
"Im sorry T, i was just going to sleep it off and hopefully feel better. But its so much worse..... is it bad? Am i dying?" I asked feeling myself panicking, it had to be bad to feel like this.
"Im sure you’re not dying kid" he said with a scoff shaking his head at the thought. Tony looked over at Bruce who was looking at the screens showing my scans, he dropped the syringe and morphine on the floor as a look of horror spread on his face as he looked up at us all.
"What.... what is it?" I asked quickly feeling my heart start to race.
"Erm.... i...."
Tony huffed and walked over to look himself being as Bruce couldn't get his words out. Seconds later his eyes went wide, his jaw literally dropped in shock.
"Guys! What the fuck is it???.... Steve?" I asked turning to look at him for answers. He walked over to Bruce and Tony and looked at the screen "is that....?" He asked looking at the 2 older men, they both started nodding and Steves head turned to me so quickly i thought he might get whiplash!
"You’re.... pregnant!" Steve stated, I swear i felt my heart stop! That was crazy!! It was impossible!!
"Stop fucking with me guys and tell me the truth! This isn't funny!!" I cried.
"Im not lying, Y/N you’re pregnant" Steve said slowly walking over to me.
"Fuck off!! Do i look pregnant to you?!!" I screamed as another cramp rolled through my stomach. I hadn't changed in size at all i couldn't be pregnant!!
"Your machine is broken Bruce!" I yelled at him "I'm not pregnant! Its impossible!"
"Y/N i don't know what to say, the machine isn't broken.... look" he turned it round to show me and thats when i saw it. I swear my heart stopped as i saw the image on the screen "and it would seem you’re in labour!" Bruce said with wide eyes, the room started spinning and went black......this wasn't happening!!

"Y/N??..... Bruce, somethings happened!" Steve said rushing to her side.
"Shes just passed out, she'll be okay"
"How can she be pregnant?? Is she even seeing anyone??" Tony asked looking on in shock.
"I don't think so, Steve do you know if shes seeing anyone?" Bruce asked scratching his head still looking dumbfounded by this development.
"How would i know?" Steve replied with wide eyes.
"Well you two have always been...close...." Tony started to say.
"Its crazy, i mean look at her she doesn't look pregnant... she was right about that much. And its full term.... the baby is healthy... just small. The placenta is at the front which would explain why she hasn't felt any movement..." Bruce was muttering while looking over at the screen again.
"I cant imagine what she must be feeling right now.... kid must be terrified" Tony said shaking his head "I'm gonna call Romanov, see if she can get back here. Y/N would want her here" Tony said walking out of the medical room.
I slowly opened my eyes and remembered where i was, and why i was here! As another contraction rolled through my stomach i let out a loud cry, Steve grabbed ahold of my hand and tried to calm me down as it eventually passed.
"Hey....you’re okay, I'm here. We'll get through this together" he said with a reassuring smile while squeezing my hand.
"I feel like i need to push....." I suddenly said looking terrified of what i was about to face.
"Y/N, i need to take a look, see how far dilated you are.... is that okay?" Bruce asked looking very uncomfortable about it. He was very much out of his comfort zone on this one! I nodded quickly just wanting it over with now. Bruce put a blanket over my legs to make sure i wasn't exposed to everyone and removed my shorts before placing my legs up.
"Oh shit...." he said standing up looking as white as a ghost.
"What?" I cried looking even more panicked if that was possible!
"Its just a lot further along than i had anticipated! I...I can see the head!"
"Banner move!" Tony said suddenly pushing Bruce aside and taking control of the situation "Okay sweetie I'm gonna need you to push" Tony told me.
"Maybe i should wait outside....." Steve said feeling like he shouldn't be in here for this.
"No!! Steve, i need you" I cried holding his hand tighter "please stay!"
"Okay. okay I'm here" he moved me forward enough so that he could sit behind me and took hold of both my hands "Okay Y/N you can do this.... push!" He said comfortingly in my ear.
Hours passed, It felt like time had stopped, just constant pain that wasn't going anywhere.
"Good girl, you’re almost there!" Tony soothed me as best he could "Bruce get a blanket".
"I cant do this anymore" I cried resting my head back against Steve's chest feeling utterly defeated.
"You are so close sweetheart, one more big push and it will all be over i promise" Tony said from the bottom of the bed.
"Come on doll, you can do this! On three, one big push" Steve said squeezing my hands, I nodded and braced myself to bare down one more time. I squeezed Steves hands so hard that i probably would have broken the bones of a normal man and let out a blood curdling scream. The room was suddenly filled with a cry that wasn't mine.
"oh my god! Y/N, its a girl!" Tony said happily, seconds later he was placing the baby on my chest for me to see giving us skin to skin contact.
"Im just gonna clean her up and i'll bring her right back okay?" Tony promised before taking the tiny baby and walking over to where Bruce was stood.
"Oh my god..... Steve, did you see her??" I cried looking up at him.
"I did! She's perfect" he beamed down at me with tears running down his face "you did so good" Steve pressed a kiss to the top of my head as Tony and Bruce came back over with the baby bundled in a yellow blanket and placed her back in my arms.
"Congratulations momma" Tony smiled.
"I cant believe this is happening..... she's so beautiful" I cried brushing a finger over my daughters tiny cheek.
"Well this wasn't how i was expecting to spend my evening" Tony said letting out a deep breath and slumping into the chair beside me.
"Well that makes two of us T!" I said shaking my head, still in shock that i had just given birth to a healthy baby girl!
"I don't even have anything for her....."
"I'll sort that out don't you worry about a thing" Tony smiled.
"So i hate to be the one to ruin the moment, but who's the father?" Bruce asked the question they all wanted to know the answer to and gave a suspicious look to Steve.

After taking a shower i dressed in sweatpants and an old tshirt that Nat had packed for me.... she'd even packed my slippers! Once i was done we had a slow walk back to my room, my arm hooked in Nat's for extra support.
"My god it hurts to walk Nat!" I moaned with each little step i took.

"Your’re right about that! I thought i was being torn apart. After everything we've been through.... giving birth is by far the scariest and most painful thing i have ever felt in my life!" I told her truthfully "i'd take a bullet over doing that again"
"You’re up! How you doing?" Steve asked appearing from around the corner.
"Im up.... struggling to make it back to my room" i replied rolling my eyes.
Steve walked over and gently picked me up "problem solved" he smiled down at me and walked the rest of the way.
"I could've made it you know?" I had to point out, even if it would have taken me a while!
"I know but this was quicker" he said opening the door to my room and placing me in the bed.
"Are you okay!?" Bucky asked looking panicked when Steve came in carrying me.
"Im fine. Was just taking me a while to walk back so Steve decided to carry me"
"Why.... are you in pain still?"
"Just a bit delicate after pushing a baby out of me you know" i shrugged before getting back in the bed.
"I should probably feed her"
"Right thats our cue" Nat got up "you call if you need anything okay?"
"I will, hey could you ask Bruce when i can go back to my room? I hate it in here"
"Sure sweetie"
"I'll check in later" Steve said before kissing the top of my head and following Nat out. Bucky stood up and carefully handed the baby to me "i'll give you some privacy...."
"You can stay Buck its okay" i shrugged as i got the baby into position and waited for her to latch on to my breast. I used the blanket she was wrapped in to cover myself so i wasn't exposed to anyone who might walk in.
"So, i was thinking we could name her after my mom?" I said looking down at my tiny baby girl.
"Okay..... what was your moms name?"
"Evelyn, i know thats a bit out dated so i was thinking Evie? They used to call my mom Evie" i explained with a shrug "she would have loved to meet her"
"I think thats perfect Doll, Evie it is"
"Our little Evie Barnes"
"You’re giving her my name?" Bucky asked sounding surprised.
"Of course.... she's your daughter Bucky. Did you not want that?...."
"No i do! I just...." he stopped and shook his head "it means a lot to me Y/N" Bucky looked up at me with teary eyes but the biggest smile plastered on his face.
"Oh shit, can you stop them coming in here while i make myself decent!" I said quickly seeing Tony and Bruce heading our way. Bucky got up and opened the door "just give her a minute shes feeding Evie"
"Oh for the love of god, we've seen your most intimate lady parts already get over it! Its a boob" Tony rolled his eyes and carried on into the room.
"Don't remind me! Im embarrassed enough!" I muttered covering myself up and gently rubbing Evie's back.
"What are you still doing down here anyway? Didn't think baby's would be your kinda thing tin man" Tony said looking at Bucky with a raised eyebrow.
"Tony....." i said in a warning tone.
"Oh wait a dang minute.... don't tell me you the baby daddy?"
"Can i hit him?" Bucky asked me sitting on the bottom of my bed.
"No! you boys need to behave"
"Well look at you, you already sound like a mom" Tony teased "so i got a few things for our girl here, some clothes, diapers, stuff i have no clue what it is but i was assured we need it with a newborn" Tony held up the bags that he was carrying.
"Thank you so much Tony, at last we can put some clothes on you baby girl" i smiled down at her. The guys started going through the bags finding what we needed as i laid Evie on the bed in front of me unwrapping the yellow blanket.
Tony handed me a tiny diaper looking a little confused at how it went on.
While i was fixing the tabs on the diaper the guys were finding an outfit for her to be dressed in.
"Buck pass me one of those bodysuits would you?" I pointed to them sitting beside his leg. He passed it over and i carefully dressed Evie in that " oh my god i feel like I'm gonna break her, shes so tiny!"
"You’re doing fine doll" Bucky said smiling proudly "here this is cute" he added handing over a pink and white sleep suit and pink hat.
I carefully finished dressing Evie and settled her in my arms, she was soon sleeping soundly making the cutest little noises.
"She looks so cozy now" i said gently stroking her cheek "I still cant believe shes real.... we have a baby Buck!" I said quietly to him, he came and sat next to me on the bed draping his arm around my shoulders pulling me close and placing a kiss to my temple "thank you so much for giving me the perfect daughter" he said so only i would hear.
"Lets get a family photo while you’re together" Tony said pulling his phone out his pocket.
"Tony i look like crap cant this wait?" I moaned rolling my eyes.
"It has to be now it captures the moment!"
"Doll you look perfect" Bucky gave me his heart breaker smile and pulled me closer so Tony could take the photo.
"Thats perfect guys! Well i'll leave this stuff here for you and let you get some rest"
"Tony thank you for everything you did today. You'd make an awesome midwife if you ever fancy a career change"
"Thanks kid!" He chuckled coming over and placing a kiss on my forehead "i love you. Now get some sleep" he said then pressed a kiss to Evie's tiny head "sweet dreams baby girl. God i love that baby smell!" He said as he walked out.
"Get some rest you guys, Y/N you'll be able to go back to your room tomorrow. I just want to monitor you a bit longer" Bruce said before following Tony out of the room.
"I should go too...." Bucky started to say and got up from the bed but i found myself reaching for his hand.
"Will you stay with us? I don't wanna be alone right now Buck"
"Sure" he nodded and climbed back in beside me with his arm around me, Evie was fast asleep against my chest.
"You know, we still need to tell the rest of the team?" I said quietly.
"Don't remind me, Sam is going to be a nightmare when he finds out i got you pregnant"
"You know you’re the one thats telling them right? I told the others its your turn now" i said chuckling when a groan left his mouth.
When i woke up the following morning i was cuddled up against Bucky's chest, his metal arm holding me close. I looked up at him and Evie was laying against his chest with his flesh hand gently on her back holding her in place, his eyes were closed and he looked so peaceful.
"Morning doll" he mumbled making me jump and let out a nervous giggle.
"Morning Buck. I thought you were sleeping"
"Nah, Just resting my eyes"
"Did she sleep okay?" I asked running my finger over her cheek.
"Yeah, takes after her mom apparently" he smirked. I did love my sleep.
"Thats good, lets hope it stays that way because I'm not gonna cope without my sleep Buck" i laughed at the thought, everyone knew how grumpy i could be when my sleep was interrupted.
"Its a good job i don't sleep much then isn't it" he teased.
"Im sure we'll cope together".
"Im sure we will doll, we've got this" he said placing a kiss on the top of my head.
"Can we go back to my room yet, i hate it in here"
"I'll go find Bruce and make sure its okay, here you take Evie..... i'll be right back".
Bucky stood up after placing Evie in my arms and stretched letting out a moan as his bones cracked in various places "that felt good" he laughed before walking out.
"Your daddy is gonna be the death of me baby girl i swear to god" i said quietly shaking my head, i had it bad for that man and he was clueless!
"Id love to but im not really feeling up to it just yet"
"Okay, how about online shopping? I know you still need to get some things"
"I can do that" i nodded smiling at her.
"Lets go to my room, daddy and uncle Steve can watch miss Evie here"
"Um... ok" i turned to look at Bucky and Steve who both nodded and smiled.
"We'll be fine sweetheart" Bucky said "we know where to find you if we need you"
"Okay, if she gets hungry give her the bottle?"
"Sure, I've got this don't worry".
"Bottle? I thought you were breast feeding?" Nat looked at me "you decide to switch to formula?"
"Don't ask.... lets just go" i blushed and quickly walked out the room before i died of embarrassment.
"It was so humiliating Nat!! He was milking me like a damn cow! But i was in so much pain....." i was saying to her after she made me tell her everything, my face buried in my hands as i thought about what had happened, Nat was laughing so hard i reached over and shoved her.
"Hey!"
"Its not funny!! I really dont stand a chance with him now do i!?"
"What do you mean?"
"I mean if he wasn't interested before this....then i stand no chance now he’s had to do that!" I threw myself back on her bed dramatically "i thought the birth was the hardest part of having Evie.... but my god was i wrong! Sure it was the most painful part" i laughed "but all this stuff that comes after..... the hormones... the leaky boobs.... and having to deal with all this with Bucky.... knowing he wont ever feel the way i feel...."
"Okay listen to me, you might not see it but that man out there is crazy about you!"
"Are you mad?" I laughed shaking my head at my best friend.
"Maybe, its not impossible" she shrugged making me chuckle "but I'm telling you, Bucky loves you. I see the way he looks at you when he thinks no one is looking, even before you guys had a kid together"
"If he loved me like you say he does, why did he act like nothing happened in Alaska??"
"Now that i don't know" she shrugged while opening up the online shopping pages on the big screen "you'd have to ask him".
(Buckys POV)
"You okay Buck?" Steve asked making me turn to look at him "you've been unusually quiet"
"Yeah... yeah im fine. Just thinking"
"You wanna talk about it?"
"Its just... never mind" i shook my head feeling like a dumb ass.
"Talk to me, whats on your mind?"
"I thought i could do this, you know? I thought i could be a dad to Evie and just carry on being friends with Y/N.... but its so hard not to feel more"
"Are you saying you have feelings for Y/N?"
"Ive always had feelings for her Steve, how do you think we got here! I have loved that girl from the second i met her" i finally admitted with a huge smile, it felt good to finally get it off my chest.
"This is big Buck! But i dont get it....why did you act like nothing happened after you guys slept together? You ignored her.... dated other women...."
"Wait how do you know.... has she spoken to you about what happened?" My smile dropped as i sat forward looking at Steve.
"No! No of course not!" Steve said quickly clearly lying! He was the worst liar ever!

Steve exhaled slowly shaking his head as he looked down at my sleeping daughter in his arms.
"Look all im going to say is if you love her, you need to tell her. Because she doesn't believe that you could possibly love her.... that she's not good enough"
"What??" I sat shaking my head "why would she ever think that??"

Then it suddenly made sense, i understood what Steve meant.
"Shit" i muttered pushing my hair back from my face "its because of how i acted after....."

"Because i thought she deserved better, someone better than me. She's so good.... in every way and im..... well we all know how fucked up i am"
"Bucky you are not fucked up! We know that.... she knows that"
"How could she ever love me Steve?"
"I dont know pal but she does"
"What??"
"You never heard this from me you hear me??!" Steve said looking around to make sure no one else was around and i nodded quickly "Y/N loves you.... she's in love with you you idiot! She has been for a while"
"She never said anything....."
"Neither did you! She was hoping that after Alaska things would change"
"But then i ignored her and pushed her away...how could i have been so stupid!!!"
"She's convinced herself that you regretted it, that you could never love her and so she's trying to be your friend..."
"What do i do Steve?"

I huffed falling back against the sofa, was Steve telling me the truth?? Was is possible that Y/N loved me??
"Can i ask you something?" I asked turning my head to face Steve, he nodded and waited for me to ask my question "do you have feelings for her?"
"W..what??" Steve stuttered as his cheeks flushed red.
"Its a simple question Steve"

That night i was in bed laying on my side watching Evie sleeping in her basket next to me. The bedroom door opened and closed gently and i already knew it was Bucky, i felt the bed dip as he laid down and then his arm wrapped around my waist as he pulled himself closer.
"Hey doll" he mumbled quietly before pressing a kiss to my neck.
"Hey"
"How was your evening with Nat?"
"It was nice, i ordered some nipple pads so no more embarrassing leaks!" I said chuckling, Bucky was laughing quietly behind me "and i figured out that damn pump.... the weirdest feeling ever!"
"Oh yeah? Even weirder than what we had to do earlier?" He laughed and tightened his hold on me.
"Definitely! your way was more enjoyable" i teased but also felt my cheeks burn at the confession, thank god it was dark so he couldn't see!
"Well I'm always happy to help".
We laid in a comfortable silence both watching our daughter sleep, Bucky was stroking my stomach where his hand rested, i wasnt even sure he knew he was doing it.
"Hey Buck?"
"Yeah doll?"
"I need to ask you something...."
"Okay"
"I dont want you to get mad though, im just curious...."
"Spit it out sweetheart, you can ask me anything"
I took a deep breath gathering my nerves, i had to get this over with!!
"Why did you act like nothing happened that night in Alaska?"
His hand stilled on my stomach for a few seconds and i felt him hold his breath.
"You know what, forget i asked..." i said starting to get up but he pulled me back down to the bed holding me close again.
"Dont go" he said quietly "you just caught me off guard.... you really wanna know why?"

"I acted like nothing happened because when i woke up i realised you deserved better than me doll. After everything I've done in the past.... i don't deserve someone like you. Id only be a burden on you"
"What....?" I asked not believing what i was hearing, i turned around so i was facing him "how can you say that?"
"Its true" he said giving me a sad smile.
"You’re an idiot James Barnes" i shook my head "you’re not a burden, you are the best man i know" i admitted cupping his face in my hands.
"Well thats not true.... you know Steve"
"You’re still the best man i know" i smiled at him meaning every word.
"But the things ive done...."
"That wasnt you, that was Hydra! If you had been in control of your mind you would never had done any of those things"
"But i still did it" he said sadly.
"It. Wasnt. You" i said again looking him in the eyes "you are a good man Bucky, i know you find that hard to hear but its true. And i will tell you everyday for the rest of my life if i have to" i smiled at him before leaning forward and gently kissing him.
"Doll...." he said pulling away from the kiss, shit! had i really just kissed him??
"Im sorry! I shouldn't have...."
"I love you!" he confessed instantly shutting me up.
"What did you just say....?"
"I said i love you.... im IN Love with you. Ive loved you since the second i met you" he admitted, i could tell by the look in his eyes that admitting this terrified him.
"I love you too" i told him truthfully, if he was being honest it was only fair that i did the same.
"You do?"
"Yes" i whispered before his mouth came crashing down on mine. His hands felt like they were everywhere and it was the best feeling in the world right now. It quickly became heated, i could feel his hardness rubbing against me.
"Buck....as much as i want you inside me right now i cant.... not yet" i pulled away gasping for air.
"I know baby, this is enough for now" he said as he trailed kisses down my neck and continued rubbing up against me.

When the team got back from their mission Natasha went straight to Y/N’s room to check on her. When she opened the door and found the bed empty she started to panic, she had told her to go see Bruce if she got any worse.
"F.R.I.D.A.Y where's Y/N?" Nat asked the A.I.
"Agent Y/L/N was taken to medical by Captain Rodgers and Mr Stark"
"Shit!" Nat cursed as she turned and started running towards the medical floor.
"Nat? Whats going on?" Bucky asked seeing her running towards him.
"Y/N was taken to medical! I knew there was something wrong with her before we left! I should've trusted my gut and taken her there myself!"
"Well lets go check on her then" he said getting into the elevator with Nat.
Nat rushed out of the elevator and saw Tony and Bruce standing at one of the doors looking in while they spoke quietly to eachother.
"Hey, what happened is she okay?" Nat asked quickly wanting answers.
"Shes fine, we handled the situation" Tony said truthfully "did you not get my message? I tried calling you"
"My phone got trashed in the fight...."
"Its been an interesting night lets just start there" Bruce said running a hand through his hair.
"Interesting is the biggest understatement of the year Banner! It was literally the shock of a lifetime!! Especially for that girl in there" Tony said pointing towards the room behind him.
"Does someone wanna tell me what the hell is going on??" Nat snapped.
"You should probably take a look for yourself.... you’d never believe me otherwise".
Natasha walked over quickly, as she looked into the room Y/N was sleeping soundly.... Steve was sat in the chair next to her..... with a baby??!!
"What the fuck...... she.... she was pregnant???" Nat said turning to face the men behind her.
"What??" Bucky asked walking over to see for himself.... when he saw Steve holding the tiny baby in a yellow blanket he turned to the others looking horrified.
"Yep, a healthy baby girl. Born at 04:34am weighing 5lb 9oz delivered by yours truly!" Tony said sounding pleased of himself.
"How is that possible..... theres no way...." Nat was saying quietly to no one in particular.
"If you’re this shocked, can you imagine how shes feeling?" Bruce said nodded towards the room.
"Is it Steve's?" Nat asked seeing him holding the tiny baby and smiling.
"They say its not, she wont tell us who the father is until shes had a chance to tell him first"
"So she didnt know she was pregnant?" Bucky asked from beside Nat, his eyes glued to the tiny baby in Steves arms.
"Not a clue. She thought she had bad stomach flu" Bruce answered looking over her chart.
"She had been sick, she told me she thought it was stomach flu before we left. This is huge!"
"No shit" Tony rolled his eyes "she's gonna be out for a while, you want me to call you when she wakes up?"
"Yeah that would be good" Nat nodded
"I'm gonna check in with Steve quickly and make sure he’s okay" Bucky said and walked toward the room.
"just keep it down i don't want her waking up yet, shes had a tough night"
"Sure" Bucky nodded and headed inside.
Steve looked up when he heard the door open and smiled at his best friend.
"Guess you guys heard about the unexpected visitor we had" Steve said looking down at the baby in his arms.
"Yeah.... they just told us.... a..are they both okay?"
"Yeah they’re both perfect. Y/N is wiped out but after what she went through i cant say i blame her. It was amazing Buck!"
"You were there?... for the birth?"
"Yeah she wouldn't let me leave" he chuckled "that woman has got one hell of a grip i tell ya! Nearly crushed my hands. And this little lady..... i cant stop staring at her Buck! Shes so tiny and perfect. Look!" Steve motioned for Bucky to come and take a closer look at the baby.
"Wow.... shes beautiful! Look at her tiny little hands...."
"She keeps making the cutest little cooing sounds i swear my heart is melting for this kid" Steve gushed as Bucky pulled up a seat "You wanna hold her?" Steve offered his friend.
"No.... no i might hurt her" he said looking down at his metal arm.
"You wont, it'll be fine. Besides i really need to go to the bathroom"
"Oh... Okay" he said letting out a shaky breath as Steve stood up and passed him the baby.
"You good?" Steve asked checking with Bucky before he left.
"Yeah.... i got her" he nodded settling the baby in his flesh arm.
"I'll be right back" Steve assured him before slipping out quietly.
The room was quiet as i slowly opened my eyes, i could already sense there was someone else in here with me but just assumed it was Steve still. When i turned to look i was shocked to see Bucky sitting in the chair holding the baby.
"Hey..... you’re back" i said quietly so i didn't surprise him.
"Hey, Yeah we got back about an hour ago" he replied with a small smile "you had a busy night huh?"
"You could say that" i said pulling myself up in the bed so i was sitting up against the pillows.
"She's perfect Y/N" Bucky stated looking down at the yellow bundle in his arms.
"Yeah she is" i agreed "Buck....she's yours" I added quickly, there was no easy way to tell him that he was a dad "you know that right?"
"I had a feeling she might be" he nodded slowly and gave me a smile. Bucky seemed surprisingly calm about the whole thing actually.
"I swear i had no idea i was pregnant! I would've told you if i did. Having this dropped on you is huge.... i mean we're not even together! It was a one time thing and now we're parents!" I rambled away nervously "i was still going on missions for christ sake!"
"Y/N you didn't know, of course you'd still go on missions"
"I don't expect you to be okay with this, i can do this on my own.... no one needs to know shes yours, if thats what you want?"
"Is that what you want?" Bucky asked looking at me with sad eyes.
"No! Of course i want you to be apart of her life.... she needs her dad too. Im not ashamed to tell people she's yours Buck" i added knowing that was what he was really asking. He was asking if i was embarrassed about people finding out i had slept with him "but if you’re not ready for this i completely understand, i wont pressure you into it".
"Hey, you’re awake" Steve said smiling as he walked back into the room again interrupting whatever conversation i was having with Bucky.
"Yeah" i nodded with a quick smile before looking over at Bucky holding our daughter.....It really was a beautiful sight, he was being so careful with her. Steve must have noticed something in the way i looked at Bucky and Bucky was looking at his daughter because he suddenly let out an "oh my god....".
Bucky and i both looked up at him with wide eyes "what?" We said in unison waiting for Steve to tell us what was wrong.
"Is.... is she...." he pointed at Bucky and looked at you for confirmation.
"Yeah, she's Bucky's" i confirmed casually trying my best to act like this wasn't a huge deal.
"I didn't even know you two were a thing.....you never said anything Buck?"
"We're not together Steve thats why he never said anything" i said to save Bucky having to explain to his friend.
"So it was just a one time thing?"
"Yeah" i said with a shrug, i was trying my hardest to kept my shit together and keep calm. Keep my heart from trying to explode from my chest, i was pretty sure the two super soldiers could hear my heart racing though.
"Hey Steve, could you ask Nat to bring me a change of clothes down i really need to take a shower i feel disgusting" i said changing the subject before it became any more awkward.
"Sure, i know shes waiting to see you and meet this one here" he nodded to the baby in Bucky's arms "speaking of.... shes gonna need a name, have you thought about it yet?"
"Not yet, i don't want to rush into it and regret it. Parents normally have 9 months to decide on a name not 9 hours"
"Fair point" Steve chuckled "i'll go get Nat for you".
"Thanks.....hey Steve?" i called getting his attention as he reached the door.
"Yeah?"
"Thank you for being there for me today, it means a lot"
"Of course" he blushed before leaving me alone with Bucky and our daughter.
"I wish i could've been there" he said quietly "I'm sorry doll".
"Its fine, we didn't know what was going to happen Buck".
He nodded slowly but looked kinda sad that he had missed it, or maybe it was because Steve had been there and not him.
"I should go and let you get some rest"
"You can stay, you can watch her while i take a shower if you want?"
"You don't mind? You trust me with her?"
"Of course i do! Buck you’re her dad you’re not going to let anything happen to her".
"Id die before i let anything happen to her" he stated staring lovingly at her.
"See" i said with a chuckle "ive got nothing to worry about. Well almost nothing"
"What do you mean?"
"I have nothing for her, no clothes, diapers....no nursery. All i can do is feed her right now. Tony said he'll take care of it all but i feel bad leaving it all to him"

"You would've kept her then? If you had found out you were pregnant?"
"I would" i nodded happily and truthfully.
A knock on the door pulled my attention and i turned to see Nat making her way in with a bag.
"Hey sweetheart, i leave you alone for a couple of hours and you go and have a baby?"
"Yeah sorry about that, who knew?" I laughed as she wrapped her arms around me and gave me a tight squeeze.
"Let me see!" She cooed as she walked over to Bucky to get a good look at the tiny bundle in his arms.
"Oh my god shes so precious! Absolute perfection. Y/N.... Can i hold her?"
Bucky looked like he didn't want to part with her but eventually handed her over to Nat gently.
"Hey I'm your auntie Nat. Uncle Bucky doesnt get to hog all the cuddles does he" she said rocking the baby gently.
"Erm about that Nat..... its not Uncle Buck.... she's his daughter"
Nat looked up at me with wide eyes and then looked at Bucky "what?? When did that happen??!" She said loudly causing the baby to stir slightly "shhhh im sorry baby girl go back to sleep" she said quietly.
"I'll give you two a few minutes to talk, i'll come back to watch our girl while you take your shower"
"Thanks Buck" i smiled and watched him leave the room.
"Sooooo, spill! You never told me you and Barnes were a thing!"
"We're not a thing, it was just the once"
"When?? You didn't even tell me you two slept together! We're supposed to be best friends!"
"You remember that mission we went on, the one where we had to stay at that safe house for the night to make sure they weren't tailing us?"
"Alaska?"
"Yep that would be the one. We were both beat up and were helping each other clean up.... one thing led to another and here we are" i said pointing to my baby daughter in Nat's arms.
"And it was just a one time thing...."
"Yeah, it never happened again. He acted like nothing had happened the morning after so i didn't make a big deal about it. We just carried on as normal" i shrugged.
"Did you want things to change? With you and Bucky i mean"
"Honestly? I was hoping it would" i finally admitted "i had liked him for ages Nat and when we finally.... i thought maybe he felt the same way. But clearly i was wrong"
"Y/N..... you should tell him! You guys have a daughter now"
"Thats not gonna make him suddenly want me Nat" i laughed "it doesn't matter anyway, I've already accepted that we'll only ever be friends" i said as i slowly climbed out of bed to grab the bag that Nat had brought with her.
"Hey be careful!" She said taking a few steps towards me.
"Im fine Nat just a bit sore, i can get out of Bed by myself" i told her as the door opened and Bucky came walking back in.
"take it easy doll, should you even be up and about yet?"
"Guys I'm fine, really" i tried to tell them "i just need a shower"
"Okay, Buck you wanna take your girl and i'll get momma to the shower" Nat said handing over the baby, he soon had his daughter settled against his chest and took a seat again.
"You’re a natural Barnes" Nat said sounding surprised walking over to me and taking the bag "lets go get you cleaned up".
"I wont be long Buck, you okay with her?" I asked wanting to make sure he felt comfortable being left alone.
