Hello! I've decided to get a puppy (miniature poodle, sd prospect) from a breeder who lives 6 hr away by car (13hr by bus/train, as I don't drive myself). The breeder is very sweet and considerate, and she seems to know what she's doing etc. The thing is, I probably won't be able to meet the pups before picking him up, and I think I'm in need of advice regarding buying a puppy prospect you haven't personally met before? Is there anything in particular I should ask about? They're 3,5weeks old now
My SDIT came from a breeder in Texas and I didn’t get to meet him before I brought him home! I did a ton of research on my breeder, got a lot of references, talked to a lot of puppy buyers (she has a group for all her puppy buyers), and spoke specifically to a couple people who have service dogs from her. She was responsive, answered all my questions, sent videos and pictures, etc. She also did the Volhard test on them. I made sure I covered all my bases so I wasn’t going in blind. I think if you’ve done your research, it isn’t necessarily horrible that you haven’t met the puppies. Especially if the breeder has placed service dogs before.
