Same statute (public art of little girl in raincoat, Columbus, Georgia) is hosting the real-life carcass of an unidentified, butterfly-sized bug inside a spiderweb inside her hat behind her head...

I fail to see how a tiny spider caught this monster???

I was walking by my living room window when I saw a smear. I stopped and realized it was moving. So I grabbed my camera. I'm not sure what these babies are, but they just hatched.

This poor halved creature was dying by my front door. I wonder what killed this insect, and why is it still alive despite the injury. I contemplated putting it out of its misery since it appeared to be suffering, but I didn't want to disrupt nature if there was good reason why this had happened- like, it was a host, etc. Does anyone know what bug this is? It looks like a wasp of some sort, but I've never seen this kind before. It's pretty, fuzzy, red and black.
