Docker and unikernels
The use of unikernels (which are a type of Virtualized Library Operating System -- see this ACM queue article ) in conjunction with containers looks interesting. The container seems to serve to address the main short-coming of a single-address space OS (SASOS)< namely the lack of resource isolation. The talk at DockerCon seems to be positioning this combo as a basis for the next cloud operating system
We're at the point now where we can look at the system as a whole and start to refactor it. We can eliminate unused components and invent new ones, more tailored to our current context.
