i logged into khux one last time to say goodbye and got to click around and look at some of the screens i hadn't seen in a while before i got the notice about maintenance 😭😭😭

put together a little compilation of kay's style journey, from baby keykid who barely ever spoke to full-time keyblade sass-master and part-time fashion icon

kay's very first baby photo!!! i remember choosing this outfit specifically it was my og outfit in the khx beta

kay went through a phase with the bob haircut bc it mirrored my irl look at the time. also, the mix of red and yellow hues in her wardrobe (plus the mouse ears!) is so iconic for her, it's still what i consider her signature color scheme

this ponytail has always been one of my favorite hairstyles in the game, so i had to include her first time wearing it

i somehow managed to never post a screenshot with this outfit in it, so i had to take a new one just now, but this ensemble is so near to my heart. of the 5 outfits you're allowed to save, this is the only one that has never changed, so it's been a constant in kay's closet since practically the very beginning. if you're interested, here's my sketch of her wearing this classic getup!

i wish i had a better screenshot in my archives of this look, because it is peak kay, but it's still a nice memorial of her first words. but the soft autumn color palette, the off-the-shoulder sleeves, the flower crown, ugh, this style is so good. this was when i also made the definitive decision that her favorite color is red!

i still like this joke but i cannot believe that even after 6 years, the devs never made individual avatar parts for the shoes, even though the tab has been there in the avatar menu this whole time. bonkers. anyway, kay's wardrobe started moving in a decidedly pink direction around this time. also, this is when freckles were added to the game so she has some now!

and here is when she started experimenting with her hairstyle a bit more! from here on it basically just starts getting longer and more wavy haha

i'm not positive, but i think this was the first time she dyed her hair, and it turns out she really liked having flowy pink locks lol

kay miiiiight be a kairi stan. in any case, she has definitely committed to drowning herself in pink at this point. good for her tbh

basically an upgraded form of the previous outfit haha. it was originally coordinated to optimize kay's skill perk bonus for coliseum tournaments, but she ended up keeping this look throughout the entire endgame!

and that is where this journey ends. how fitting that kay's 6-year long metamorphosis culminates in her donning a pair of sparkly butterfly wings, the ultimate symbol of transformation and over-powered anime nonsense 💕
