Corporations Always Cry Poor
Corporate CEOs and other bosses have been crying poor over every proposed benefit for the worker since the very invention of corporation or just companies.
"We can't afford a higher minimum wage.... we'll go bankrupt."
Now.... "We can't afford overtime wages.. we'll go bankrupt."
Like with the recent auto union strike and the writers' strike and considering corporate America is making RECORD PROFITS...
"We can't afford it!" Is a lie!
They will make profit, perhaps more profit with the greater productivity of happy workers but.... bosses want EVERY LAST DAMN CENT they can squeeze out of labor for short-term gain at the cost of product quality, at the cost of low worker morale, at the expense of their employee's lives.
Most bosses don't care if you die poor. That's your problem. They feel they're doing you a favor allowing them to pay you far less than you help them to earn with your labor.
You're just another machine to be manipulated to create a product or service for their profit. The less they pay you ... the more they make because you always CREATE MORE VALUE than they are willing to PAY you.
A Fox News anchor claimed that overtime pay amounts to “forced income redistribution.”
Isn't NOT paying overtime just shifting the cost of having an insufficient number of workers onto the employees themselves?
If you were hired on the idea you'd work normal hours at a certain rate, but now are asked to work half again as long, they just CUT YOUR PAY! Because at SOME POINT you work to live, not just to work. Giving up your precious free time is a huge sacrifice which deserves higher pay. Now you are offering your free time, beyond a regular work day, for their benefit.
Cutting overtime pay IS "forced income redistribution" from the WORKER to the FILTHY RICH who don't even need it.
This level of greed is disgusting and inhuman. Then again, so are the filthy rich.
