About Perfume Records and UNIVERSAL J

For those who don't know yet, longtime Universal Music Japan sublabel UNIVERSAL J has been renamed Polydor (Polydor Records Japan) and has removed its Johnny's Entertainment-related sublabels from it (they were grouped into a new sublabel named UJ).

Japanese girl group Perfume's imprint label Perfume Records will remain under the renamed Polydor label.

All these changes were announced last December 26, 2022 and took effect last January 1, 2023.

So, my theme for Go-Lingo this week is Japan and I'm trying to include different elements of Japan into it: its language, culture, music, media etc. Though of course, I won't go overboard - my affinity for Japanese pop can be found on my personal blog, hehe. :)

Here is a video for Japanese electropop group, Perfume's latest single 'Spring of life'. Recently, when I told someone I liked J-Pop, they found it to be really odd. But, my motto for music is always to just give it a go. I'm sure there's something for everyone's tastes, you just have to search for it. I've found my niche in J-Pop aaand now, I'm going to *attempt* dancing along to Perfume... alone of course, where no one can see such atrocity. :P
