REAL QUICK - Today at 4 PM on Universopolis on East Village Radio, I'm hosting the illustrious, talented and extremely entertaining ZUZUKA PODEROSA. Homegirl grew up in Rio and the West Indies, but moved to Brooklyn a few years back to study music, and now she's coming up quick as the illest, if only, NY-based funk carioca vocalist in the WORLD. By all accounts this chick is a badass but I've never interviewed her before, so if you tune in (4 PM! EVR.COM!) you will hear the first sparks of the meetings of two brains deepset in power chica status. WHAT DID THAT EVEN MEAN? I DONT KNOW, I'M WRITING THIS SUPER FAST, GOTTA GET TO THE STUDIO! Until then, watch her latest jam above. Track is called "Dona Sandra," produced by Ireland's Orqestra, and is apparently about a heartbroken Mozambican lady. FILE UNDER: GLOBALIZATION, NON-EVIL. I'll ask her about that and more, plus I think we get a special guest appearance by Dapwell of Das Racist aka my man-piece; we'll be talking about the newish "Latindian" phenomenon, in which Latin America is going bonkers over Indian culture in part due to Bollywood. YO MY SHOW IS ILL!
