Making this its own post instead of a reblog just because:

My username unknown-ends and how it came to be.

I mentioned it before but I will talk about it again because I'll never get tired of talking about it.

The inspiration behind it is these two songs from Hozier's album Unreal Unearth: Unending

Now, it's not just because they're my favorite songs in the album; they're the ones that hit the closest to how I live and view life.

I know Unknown / Nth is inspired on Dante's poem The Divine Comedy and that talks about distance and betrayal, but I didn't see it that way the first time I listened to it.

When I was little, I used to be mocked for being too sensitive and crying too easily. Classmates, friends, family, my tears were never soothed or welcomed because of how easily they came. Some classmates would even tell me that I was too forgiving, too laid back, that I should defend myself instead of letting people mock me, but I didn't know how to do that back then (I still don't sometimes, I'm not built to be witty in the moment or clap back in a funny and burning way, that only happens in my writing) I'm also very easily pleased because I don't really want for much, whether it's due to trauma or other shit is yet to be defined, but that's for another day. Not to say I don't have standards or self respect, 'cause I have a very trigger happy finger when it comes to blocking people and ending shit, but I am quite lenient with the people I care about.

Distance, mistakes, things they fall short on and all that stuff; they're no big deals for me because I don't really expect people to be perfect, I just expect them to be, in whatever way that is. I'll walk with you anywhere, help in any way I can, carry whatever it is because I care and I want to be there, even if it might hurt me. It might be rotten work, but I think it's worth it.

Has that selfless and sensitive attitude of mine backfired on me? Yeah, it has, multiple times throughout my life. But that pain didn't take the love away. It didn't make me less sensitive or caring, less willing to go to the ends of the earth for the people I love, because those are the settings I came with. Naturally, I had to learn to disconnect and leave even though my heart wanted to stay. It's why I hold the bridge of the song so close to my heart.

How do I even begin to talk about this one?

It's quite simple, really, that's the way I see life. Everything will end, whether you want it or not, so you shouldn't let that stop you from doing what you want. It kind of ties back to unknown / nth for me, especially on my leniency.

Yes, I know things will end and maybe it won't matter at the end of the day, but I still care. Even if we're no longer in each other's lives, I still care, you still have a piece of me with you and I will think back on our past fondly just because. I might be forgetful to a concerning degree, but I will remember.

Sometimes it's even the opposite of that: everything will end and it won't really matter at the end of the day, so I don't care. I'll forget what we were fighting about not even an hour after it happened. I'll forget about the pain in a couple of minutes, and I'll be laughing about some stupid shit I saw on the internet or a joke a friend made.

Nothing is meant to last, that's why you should make the most of it.

And that's how we get unknown-ends, cause we also don't know how (or when) it's going to end.
