Pale Lights Book 3 - Thirteenth Lineup

I've been working on this for 1½ months, but it's finally done. Fanart for the online book Pale Lights, with a lineup of Thirteenth. And their very close associates. Also comes with a hunting crew and library delve variant.

Some amusing facts: Ishanvi's small size combined with Izel's height and Angie's growth spurt means we're finally starting to have real height variation among the human members of Thirteenth.

Working on this, I learned a lot about historical uniforms and weapons. First thing is that the Watch really isn't meant to be an organised army with uniforms within the stated inspirational time period (1500-1700). That's just too early. In relation to this, even early uniforms were lacking elements we Today take for granted on uniforms. Like shoulder straps and rank insignias.

As for weapons. Well, turns out something as basic as straps for guns only really became common around the WW1 trench wars. Generally, earlier firearms would be carried in the hands of the user if planning to go into use. You can probably see remnants of this in military parades, where soldiers are carrying their rifles as if they didn't have straps.

As an artistic side note: Getting room for all those weapons AND cloaks really is quite challenging.

A crop of my favorite ‘panel’ from a guest episode for @shensation ‘s webcomic Unluckies! It’ll be a bit before it’s out, but Shen asked me to illustrate an in-universe folktale about two goddesses and an abyssal creep who isn’t great at romance.
