Day 5: last day in Rome. This morning we started out by passing some ruins which served as a cat sanctuary (adorable) on our way to see the Pantheon. - After that we went to Piazza Navona and saw the Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi before splitting off into our own separate adventures. - I wandered around the plaza and into a baroque church called Sant'Agnese in Agone, and then meandered around until I found a nice little café in the shade to sit and eat lunch. - This afternoon, we were fortunate enough (thanks to @adrianrduranphd) to be able to see the studio of an incredible Art Historian who's lived in Rome since 1959. He shared a few of his many maps from different points in history and his exhibition of prints from a point in time when Rome was isolated from the rest of a newly united Italy. It was so amazing to be let in on a sliver of the wisdom of such a knowledgeable scholar. It really allowed me to stitch together all the experiences I've had over the past few days. - Tomorrow we set out for Orvieto in the morning, where we'll spend some time before arriving in Florence tomorrow evening.
