everyone is either getting fit or getting married that is to say that they are also letting loose and having kids while i count steps and a balanced caloric diet weighing micros and macros and tracking noticeable patterns so before i am compelled to bring out the tape to measure my waist every saturday morning stepping on the scale butt naked (because i’m too busy worrying about the mortgage and bills on other days) and keeping up with social affairs for the sake of communal “goodness” but more so solely because it is the path of least resistance before any or all of this i choose for now the role of the onlooker growing old or at least older in a more peculiar fashion, unperturbed by the weight of it all in no particular hurry to count down my remaining days
